Requesting a Biography: Before placing a request for a biography, make certain that the person meets the notability requirements for inclusion in Wikipedia (see notability criteria). Why do you want to know about them? Why would anyone else want to know about them? Also, if you are requesting an article on a living person, please see Wikipedia's policy on biographies of living people and neutral point of view.

To make a new request, add the person's name under their profession or nation (or in both categories). Place it in alphabetical order by the person's last name. If an appropriate nation or professional category is not listed, then one should be created -- or the requested name can be added to the uncategorized listings at the bottom of this page.

Information to include:

  1. Name - be certain of the spelling
  2. Date requested - so that older requests can be more easily tracked.
  3. Identifying information -- There are lots of James Smiths in the world; which one are you asking about -- the Scottish architect, the American rapper, or who?
  4. Notability -- if it isn't already obvious from the identifying information, describe precisely what makes them notable. Be concise.
  5. Reference -- add a link to a reference which identifies the person and/or highlights their notability
