Manoj Sinha is the current Telecom Minister and the member of 16th Lok Sabha , the lower house in the Indian Parliament representing Ghazipur Lok sabha constituency. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.[1][2]

Early life and education

Manoj Sinha was born on 1 July 1959 in Bhumihar Brahmin family[3] in Mohanpura, Ghazipur District, India. He has a B. Tech. and M.Tech. degree in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, BHU (earlier called IT-BHU).[4] Manoj Sinha has taken over as new Minister of State for Railways. The President administered the oath of office and secrecy to Shri Sinha as Member of the Council of Ministers on 26 May 2014. Shri Manoj Sinha is Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Ghazipur Constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

Politics

From 1989-1996, he was a member of the National Council. In 1996, 1999 and in 2014 he was elected to Lok Sabha. He was among the best performing member of parliament of the 13th Lok Sabha with a very high attendance and asked many questions on various topics related to public welfare. He was among the seven most honest members of parliament according to India Today, he used all the money allotted to a parliament member for public welfare, which is rare. For all of his qualities and a spotless character he became an obvious choice in Narendra Modi's ministers. He is currently holding Minister of State with independent charge (Communications)and Minister of state (railways) in Narendra Modi's government.[5]

Personal life

Shri Manoj Sinha married Shreemati Neelam Sinha(Sultanganj,Bhagalpur) on 8 May 1977. They have a daughter married and settled in USA and a son.
