'''Semi-protection''' Both {{U|84.60.235.168}} and {{U|2605:8D80:628:D24C:CA71:A4AB:7A51:6DF6}} only edited [[Abdul_Latif_Pedram]], specifically, a passage that included being a Professor among Pedram's occupations. A google search confirmed he was a Professor, the article's existing references confirmed he was a Professor. I am going to assume {{U|84.60.235.168}} edits [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Abdul_Latif_Pedram&diff=prev&oldid=886782100] [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Abdul_Latif_Pedram&diff=next&oldid=886782100] were made in good faith. However, I am sure {{U|2605:8D80:628:D24C:CA71:A4AB:7A51:6DF6}}'s long record of disruption, documented at [[Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Renamed user 49274c4c204245204241434b/Archive]], proves that their only intent is disruption. Note their second edit summary ''"[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Abdul_Latif_Pedram&diff=886782100&oldid=883282390 Reverting BLP violation. If you are going to edit here competency is required.]"'' is patent nonsense.

Note: Advice to ''"seek dispute resolution"'' would be pointless, as that only works with good faith contributors, willing to be accountable for their edits. It doesn't work with long term vandals who are using sockpuppetry specifically to evade being held accountable. [[User:Geo Swan|Geo Swan]] ([[User talk:Geo Swan|talk]]) 00:15, 9 March 2019 (UTC)

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – High degrees of sock puppetry and IP vandalism from blocked user. — Czello (music) 06:55, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Lowell High School (San Francisco)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Two IPs (3 edits) insist on placing new principal's name before old's resignation takes effect June 30th. Suggest protection until July 1. Dhtwiki (talk) 07:41, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Second inauguration of Nayib Bukele

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Per my previous request, the admin who rejected it did not understand it. An autoconfirmed sock just pulled the same bullshit their other socks have been doing. There is very little room for improvement in a redirect, so we should just stop the sockpuppetry now. Air on White (talk) 08:15, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Persistent sockpuppetry by WP:BE banned user Orchomen (long term abuse). Following bans of accounts, using IP sockpuppetry. This is one of their go-to pages. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 12:45, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Mamitha Baiju

Reason: A user and their IPv6 WP:LOUTSOCK repeatedly adding their own name to the article (and making other unsourced changes to this BLP). 81.187.192.168 (talk) 13:16, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Some random people are coming and vandalising the content on the page. This page need page protection. MRRaja001 (talk) 16:40, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Balika Vadhu (TV Series)

Reason: This redirect to Balika Vadhu has been recreated into an article three times in the past week by IP editors, making it a near duplicate to the article about the television series. Aspects (talk) 16:55, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Sdrqaz (talk) 22:40, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. User:Namiba 18:48, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. @Namiba: Unsourced edits appear to be an issue, but I only see a single user talk page notice about that issue for any of the IP editors touching this article in 2024. And there are no warnings for vandalism. I've warned the editor who vandalized the article today. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 21:39, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Yasuke

Reason: High amount of contentious editing, lots of potential to be brigaded and have inflammatory text considering the unusual topic of the article. Yasuke, a black retainer in medieval Japan was one of the only black men in the country, and him being featured in the new Assassins Creed has led to lots of back and forth, as can be viewed in the page history. I'd request at least a semi-protection, and if some admin deems it necessary, an extended confirmed would be great. daruda (talk) 22:31, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Fleetwood Mac

Reason: Edit war going on regarding if the group is still active or not. Lots of back and forth editing. Urbanracer34 (talk) 22:40, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    MOS:LEAD

Reason: There is basically no reason this should be edited, ever, and breaking this redirect is highly disruptive. Although IP vandalism is infrequent, it comprises all edits since January 2021. Requesting semi-protection. Toadspike [Talk] 22:59, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Full protection: Used in fully-protected Module:Toolbar (this is currently cascade-protected via the main page, but that will lapse soon as it is due a template in one specific on this day entry). {{3x|p}}ery (talk) 02:02, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Declined already TE-protected which should be sufficient. There are only few more TEs than admins after all and all of them should be trusted enough. SoWhy 21:22, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Template:Anchor

    Full protection: Used in MediaWiki:Category header. {{3x|p}}ery (talk) 02:46, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Declined see above. I see no reason to bar template editors from editing these pages. That's why we have that usergroup. SoWhy 21:24, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Gugudan

Semi-protection: A user is edit warring using his IP socks despite being reverted by two users. Snowflake91 (talk) 22:53, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is directly related to the WL notice, so admin-only is reasonable. — xaosflux Talk 02:40, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    Added template-protection for Module:ConvertNumeric. — xaosflux Talk 02:37, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect this can have other uses, and though it could break WL, it's not that bad, so am OK leaving it at TEP. — xaosflux Talk 02:40, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Someone want to figure out what is going on with the 'to word' templates and their relation to Wikipedia:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2018_November_13#Template:Cardinal_to_word? — xaosflux Talk 02:40, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Same note as with ConvertNumeric though, TEP protection should be enough if needed. — xaosflux Talk 02:40, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Xaosflux: What it looks like to me is that no one bothered to clean up the orphaned subpages after implementing the merge and luafication, but otherwise the TfD is done. {{3x|p}}ery (talk) 02:56, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Various new or unregistered users have been periodically adding mentions of unscientific names for several weeks without a WP:RS. There appears to be a consensus against such inclusion (see page history, talk page, and Talk:Moscovium/Archive 1#Motorhead), yet the pattern of writing names and reverting such additions (i.e. edit warring) continues. Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
