Ramayampet is a town and mandal in Medak district in Indian state of Andhra Pradesh with a population of 61,809.[1] It is the biggest town in Medak district and is 80 km away from Hyderabad.

Geography

Ramayampet is located at 18°07′00″N 78°25′47″E / 18.116609°N 78.429766°E / 18.116609; 78.429766.[2] It has an average elevation of 475 metres (1558 feet).

Ramayampet is centrally located between Hyderabad and Nizamabad also between Siddipet and Sangareddy. It has got both National highway, state highway and Rail transport system.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Ramayampet had a population of 63,849. Males constitute 66% of the population and females 33%. Ramayampet has an average literacy rate of xx%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is xx%, and female literacy is xx%. In Ramayampet, xx% of the population is under 6 years of age. xx Gram Panchayat wards are there.

Rivers

Komati Cheruvu & Yerra Cheruvu, sub-river of Manjira (which is sub river of Godavari) is located at this place. In Komati Cheruvu recently Boating also Started by Yellu Ravinder Reddy the Sarpanch of Prashanth nagar Grampanchayat. Komati Cheruvu is one of the famous tank (just Like Mini Tank band) in Ramayampet.

Transport

As Siddipet is near by Hyderabad, the main retail business people travel to Hyderabad frequently. Siddipet is almost mid way to reach main towns and district head quarters like Karim Nagar, Manchiryala, Godavarikani etc. Most of the people live in Ramayampet use two wheelers as personal transport vehicle. There was a plan of railway track connecting Hyderabad and Karimnagar via Siddpet but still it is not reaching to the implementation. There are so many Engineering and Post Graduation colleges around siddipet, those students use buses and autos to reach them. Recently the traffic rules updated and started using traffic lights at the main junctions.

Temples: Sri Bhogeshwara Swamy temple is very old temple located at old town. Paripally Sri Seetha Ramaswamy Temple also an old temple located at 5th Ward (Macha Venugopal Reddy, councilor) the above both were constructed 600yrs back. Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temples, Kotilingala Swamy temple, Gadi Maisamma, Borra Hanuman, Sri Sharabeshwaralayam, X Road X Hanuman, Naga Devatha temple, Sri Sathya Narayana Swamy temple, Ragichettu Hanuman, Sri Neelakanteshwara Swamy temple, Shri Shiridi Sai Baba temple, Gita Bavan, Panchamukhi Hanuman, Ayyappa Swamy Temple, Yellamma temple, Markandeya Swamy temple, Jai Santhoshi Mata temple, Bangaluru Maisamma and Shri Sathya Sai Baba Prashanthi Nilayam, etc., Nearly we can find 50+ more temples in Ramayampet alone and nearly 25+ temples surrounding to the Ramayampet, in ramayampet they will celebrate their religious festivals very grandly like mahankali matha iathara, yellamma jathara, mallanna jathara, and narasimha konda jathara. they celebrate telanganas religious festival BATHUKAMMA festival very grandly.

Masjids: Badi Masjid is a very Old Masjid located at Lal Kaman, Makkah Masjid located at Charwadan Street(Shafeeq-ur-Rehman, Councillor) and Sufia Masjid located at Qadarpura and many more in list.

Churches: A very old church C.S.I church located in the heart of the town.opp to MRO and RDO office Ramayampet it was constructed 130 Years back.

Entertainment

Ramayampet has 4 (70mm), 1 (35mm) and 1 (Video) theaters, which put up latest Telugu and at times Hindi movies too. In addition to theaters, Public Servants Home (NGO's), Citizens Club, Mini Tankbund (a.k.a. Komati Chervu) are few very entertainment centers for common public entertainment purposes.

Hotels: Ramayampet people love food. Many DHABA hotels are available in Ramayampet and its surroundings. Grand hotel is famous for irany tea, it is first oldest and biggest hotel in Ramayampet. Hyderabadi Biryani at Green Bawarchi, Ruchi, Reddys Biryani etc., are well know hotels to name few which you can find here. But most of these hotels carry food which is equal to Hyderabad Biryani. Diamond Hotel is located at Karimnagar road, Sajidhpura. it is famous for fast food and in ramzan they serve ramzan special dish HALEEM & HAREES. Chat is Very famous here, we will found chat bands in every streets.

Industries

Rice mills, oil mills, poultry, aluminium utensils, steel utensils, copper and brass utensils, poha mills, para-boiled rice mills, fried gram mills, biscuit industry and many types of industries are established.
