KKDD is a commercial radio station located in San Bernardino, California, broadcasting to the Riverside-San Bernardino, California area on 1290 AM. KKDD airs children's music programming syndicated by Radio Disney. The format consists of music and other entertainment popular among children and preteens.
History
The radio station was hugely popular playing top 40 music in the 1960s as K/men 129, and battled crosstown rival KFXM (590) for ratings. A number of radio personalities, who were later heard in San Diego and Los Angeles, were featured on K/men. These include, but are not limited to, Johnnie Darin, Huckleberry (Chuck Clemans), William F. Williams, Jim Mitchell, Ben e. McCoy, Harry Scarborough, Bruce Chandler, Mark Denis, Dave Sebastian and Mark Ford. Before it joined Disney in 2001, this AM outlet (still as KMEN) played a variety of formats, including adult standards, oldies and talk. When the Oakland Raiders played in Los Angeles, KMEN was the Inland Empire affiliate.[citation needed]
