Highway system

National Highway 216 (NH 216) , according to new numbering system ,starts from Kathipudi ( junction of NH-16 , formerlyNH 5) , near Kakinada and ends at Ongole ( junction of NH-16 , formerlyNH 5) , both places in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The highway is 397 km long and runs only in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The Roads and Buildings (R&B) department handed over the single-lane road to National Highways department for development as coastal highway.[1][2]

The construction of bridge across Krishna river near Avanigadda completed which provides easy access to coastal villages between Guntur and Krishna districts. Another bridge across the drain at Lakshmipuram which connects Machilipatnam with Narsapur also completed. The single-lane curved road needs much improvements.
