.is is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Iceland. Foreign entities must appoint a local representative in Iceland (Administrative Contact of the domain).

.is is derived from the first two letters from the Icelandic spelling of Iceland: Ísland.

Foreign entities which use .is include my.is, a message board about the Lexus IS 250 and IS 350 cars.[1]

As of October 2008 there were 22,327 registered .is domains.[2]

According to McAfee, .is was amongst the 5 most secure TLDs in the world in 2007 and 2008.[3]
