A list of films produced by the film industry based in Mumbai to be released in 2012.[1] Several commercially and critically successful films have been released by the Bollywood film industry in 2012. As of November 2012, Ten films have made it to the top 30 list of highest grossing films at the Indian box office. This year saw the highest number of hits in a year and also the highest release count.
2012 has also seen many films released worldwide. Some are commercially successful like Ek Tha Tiger, Rowdy Rathore, Agneepath, Housefull 2, Barfi!, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Bol Bachchan, Oh My God, Dabangg 2 and some got critical acclaim worldwide like English Vinglish, Gangs of Wasseypur, Kahaani, Paan Singh Tomar, Talaash and Vicky Donor.
This year also marks the first time in Bollywood history that eight films Ek Tha Tiger, Rowdy Rathore, Agneepath, Dabangg 2, Housefull 2, Barfi!, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Bol Bachchan grossed more than ₹ 100 crore domestically.

- Ek Tha Tiger an action film directed by Kabir Khan starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. It grossed 186 crores and is the highest-grossing film of 2012. Ek Tha Tiger broke many record at the box office, netting Rs.32.95 crore on in its opening day, it also broke the opening weekend record with collection of 57.85 crore and 143.25 crore in its extended week of nine day. It is the fastest film to cross the ₹ 100 crore mark, doing so within just 6 days, breaking Bodyguard's previous record of 7 days. The film made a total of 307 Crore worldwide making it the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time in India after 3 Idiots .[4]
- Rowdy Rathore is 2nd highest grossing-film this year by doing business of ₹133 crore (US$16 million) at the domestic box office in 2012. It broke first day non holiday record by collecting 16 crores at domestic Box Office earlier created by Housefull 2 14.8 crores. This is the first film of Akshay Kumar, John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez to cross 100 crores mark, Asin Thottumkal's third film to cross the 100 crore mark and one of the two films of the year to do that so. Total worldwide collection is 164 crores worldwide and total net grossed collection is 182 crores. It is the sequel to Housefull (2010).[8]
- Barfi! is currently the 6th highest-grossing film of the year having collected ₹ 106 crore at domestic box office. This is Ranbir Kapoor's first and Priyanka Chopra's third ₹ 100 crore film.[9] It is also Priyanka Chopra's second film of the year to cross the ₹ 100 crore mark.
- Jab Tak Hai Jaan is a Romance film directed by the Late Yash Chopra and is currently the 7th highest grossing film of this year. It stars Sharukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the lead role. It is the last film of Yash Chopra who died 3 weeks before the film release.[10] It was released with Son Of Sardaar. It is the third film of Shahrukh Khan, the second of Katrina Kaif and the first film of Anushka Sharma to cross the 100 crore mark.
- Bol Bachchan is a comedy film directed by Rohit Shetty. Bol Bachchan is the 8th film of the year which crossed 100 crore mark. This is Ajay Devgan and Rohit Shetty's third film, Asin Thottumkal's fourth film and second film in the same year after Housefull 2 and Abhishek Bachchan's and Prachi Desai's first film to cross 100 crores.
