Ghaniaan is a village in Mandi Bahauddin District, Punjab, Pakistan. It is located at 32°4029N 73°649619E with an altitude of 205 metres (675 feet), lying seven kilometres from Phalia in the direction of Ranmal Sharif on one side of the Chenab River near Qadirabad.

Overview

Ghaniaan has all basic facilities; hospital, schools, telephones and good roads with transport to the nearest city Phalia. Most of the people are farmers by profession but since a couple of years ago, a lot of people have been employed in European and Gulf countries, which has raised people's life style. There are two main crops; rice and wheat. Local farmers make lot of money from 'Colonel Basmati' brand rice. The literacy rate is also going up, specially in women. The most popular personalities of Ghanian in elders are Jalala Khan, Haji Ashraf, Muhammad Arif Iqbal Tarar, Muhammad Shafie, and Jehan Khan. The people from Ghanian like many others have contributed their part at international level in the fields of Engineering and medicine etc. In Robotics Mr. Shahid Tarar represented Sweden in USA for worlds most high tech competition called RoboCup.
