Welcome![edit]

Hello, Theworldgymnast1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Bailie Key, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! smtchahal(talk) 15:58, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Bailie Key has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. smtchahal(talk) 15:58, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Peyton Ernst has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not appear to meet criteria of WP:NGYMNASTICS as she has not won an individual medal in any of the major competitions. I am also unable to find significant coverage of her career in reliable sources per WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ... discospinster talk 21:34, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Alexys Nycole Sanchez requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Information icon Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Alexys Nycole Sanchez. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion, which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. July 2014[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Alexia Umansky. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Electric Wombat (talk) 23:03, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello, here is what those templates mean. Note, they are not meant to be disparaging, but rather problems that other users can help fix:
    1. Orphan: That means that no other article links to this one. Generally, it's not a good idea to have an article that no other article links to, as it sort of isolates this article from the rest of the encyclopedia.
    2. Notability: This means that the subject may not meet the General Notability Guidelines. Basically, you'd need to find reliable third-party sources that discuss her (newspapers, magazines, websites unrelated to her, etc). It is also important to note that having famous relatives does not count. She would have to show her own notability based on those sources. If indeed you have used all available sources, then perhaps she does not in fact fall into that definition. Hope this helps, Electric Wombat (talk) 23:12, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • But seriously, please don't remove those tags. They indicate problems needing to be fixed to prevent the article from being deleted (in the notability case). Removing them removes that visibility, and that may result in the article being deleted if notability cannot be established (and fairly quickly, since it it an article about a living person, which are taken more seriously). Speedy deletion nomination of Chris Burdette[edit]

Hello Theworldgymnast1,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Chris Burdette for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

Hi there. Please stop removing the {{notability}} template from the above page. More than one editor now has raised concerns about her notability according to WP's guidelines on the topic. Mostly she seems to have "inherited" her notability because she's someone's daughter, rather than through anything she's done on her own. If you can find reliable sources that discuss her accomplishments, by all means please add them to the article. Esrever (klaT) 05:11, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Steven Parsonage for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Steven Parsonage is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steven Parsonage until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Fram (talk) 09:35, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Article creations[edit]

I note that many of your articles have been deleted, and it looks like many others have similar problems and may end up deleted as well. Please make sure that the subjects of the articles meet WP:N (our notability guideline) and for biographies WP:BIO. Make sure that biographies of living people have at least one good source.

It looks as if your focus is on college gymnasts. While many of them are notable, often their greatest claim to fame is not in college gymnastics but elsewhere, e.g. Olympic Games and the like. Make sure that the articles give the most weight to the most notable facts, and not to your area of interest only (or mainly). An article like Grace McLaughlin focuses nearly exclusively on her college career, while her notability rests solely on her elite career (and the medal at the Panamerican Games). She should be in Category:Pan American Games gold medalists for the United States, and that medal should be in the infobox. Fram (talk) 09:35, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Sofia Kenin[edit]

The article Sofia Kenin has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This player is not notable by project standards; she has no Fed Cup or WTA main draw appearances, has not won any ITF tournaments above the $25,000 category, had no remarkable junior career (neither a Grand Slam champion nor ranked within the world's top 3), and there are no further claims that she is otherwise, at present, generally notable.

Women's gymnastics[edit]

Hi, TWG1. I've been following some of your work on gymnastics articles because of my interest in the Florida Gators sports program. I'm also very active at Articles for Deletion (AfD), and I noticed when an article you had recently created, Dana Duckworth, was nominated for deletion for lack of notability under Wikipedia's general notability guidelines per WP:GNG. Knowing the history and importance of the Alabama gymnastics program, I went to work on the article several days ago, including properly sourcing it with mainstream news coverage of the subject to satisfy GNG. Happily, the nominator withdrew the AfD nomination yesterday, after reviewing the new sources added to the article (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dana Duckworth). So, we saved one.

In any event, I've been wanting to upgrade the Florida Gators women's gymnastics and Rhonda Faehn articles for a long time. You seem to have access to gymnastics references, and I wanted to ask if you would be willing to work with me to improve these two articles. Given the recent success of the Gators, they certainly deserve better articles. Please let me know your thoughts. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 07:29, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Kaitlyn Clark requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

File permission problem with File:Alicia Boren at the 2015 Nastia Liukin Cup.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Alicia Boren at the 2015 Nastia Liukin Cup.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 11:38, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:GAGE Gymnastics Logo.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Hello, Theworldgymnast1. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Laurent Landi, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

I'm certainly not going to get into an edit-war over whether Atlanta Falcons should be wikified, though I think it violates WP:WORLDVIEW to not do so since people outside the US and even non-sports-fans in the US don't know what the Atlanta Falcons are.

However, it is clearly incorrect not to italicize the name of a TV show, so I am restoring that edit. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:31, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Do not create pages that attack, threaten, or disparage their subject. Attack pages and files are not tolerated by Wikipedia, and users who create or add such material may be blocked from editing.

A page you created has been nominated for deletion as an attack page, according to section G10 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Please read the important policy WP:Biographies of living persons . Read all of it, but note particularly that it includes:

"Contentious material about living persons... that is unsourced or poorly sourced – whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable – should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion."

This article was pretty well entirely sourced to Facebook, Twitter and other social-networking sites, which are not reliable sources because anyone can write anything there. JohnCD (talk) 20:47, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

College gymnast articles - notability[edit]

Before you write any more articles about college gymnasts, please read the notability guidelines WP:Notability, WP:Notability (people) and WP:Notability (sports). The requirement is for references that show "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject... 'Significant coverage' addresses the topic directly and in detail... Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention... "

Your article Randii Wyrick had thirteen references, but four of them were about her brother, four about her sister, three about her mother. Even if they were about Randii, most of them were social-media like Facebook and Twitter, which are not reliable sources because anyone can write anything there. The "Southern Nevada Athletic Press" reference did not, as far as I could see, mention Randii, or indeed any of the Wyricks. The only reference of any relevance for notability was the "usagym.org" one, but that seems a routine listing and certainly shows that she is not at the level of WP:NGYMNASTICS (that shortcut does not always work, you may need to scroll up or down to find the heading "Gymnastics").

Piling up trivial or irrelevant references like that is called WP:BOMBARDMENT, and does not help an article.

Please understand that the point of the notability guidelines is that Wikipedia is selective about subjects. It does not want to have articles about every college gymnast. Trying to create them is just wasting everyone's time. If you want to document them all, consider using Wikia, which runs on the same MediaWiki software, but is not so choosy about subjects. You could set up a "College Gymnast Wiki" there, write them all up, and transfer articles to Wikipedia if and when they become really notable in Wikipedia's sense. Proposed deletion of Lauren Hopkins[edit]

The article Lauren Hopkins has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of WP:notability. Directory entries for her parents and a face book page are not references.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The article Ericha Fassbender has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. noq (talk) 12:43, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Use of the Gator head logo for Florida Gators gymnastics articles[edit]

Hi, TWG1. Please do not use the Gator head logo on articles other than the Florida Gators women's gymnastics main article (and the other 15 main articles for Florida Gators sports teams); the use of the logo is not authorized for any articles other than the main team articles. The creative content logo is a non-free image subject to copyright, and as such its use on Wikipedia is restricted only to the primary team articles -- and specifically excluding other Florida Gators articles for seasons, rivalries, bowl games and championships. We routinely remove all such unauthorized uses on sight. Your improper use of the logo has already created problems by breaching the original compromise which permitted its restricted use on the main Florida Gators team article, and has attracted the attention of the Wikipedia copyvio enforcement folks. Please do not restore the logo to the 2016 Florida Gators gymnastics team article [1]; if we lose the ability to use the logo on the main team articles, you are going to be hearing from a lot of angry editors who work on Florida Gators sports articles. Please, please, please cease and desist. For more information please see the restrictive language on the file talk page: [2]. Thank you. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 08:50, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Lindsay Mable requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://speedydeletion.wikia.com/wiki/Lindsay_Mable. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. We noticed though that when you edited 2016 NCAA Division I women's gymnastics season, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Division III and Division II. Your contributed article, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Leonardo DiCaprio. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Leonardo DiCaprio – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. —Largo Plazo (talk) 18:26, 1 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article Relationship of Suzanne Yoculan and Sarah Patterson has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. PamD 22:04, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Dan Kendig has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails to meet WP:NOTE. Subject does not have significant coverage; the only sources in this article are his LinkedIn profile and a local newspaper article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. An article you recently created, 2019 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championship, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Hello, Theworldgymnast1. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "2019 Utah Red Rocks gymnastics season".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 22:47, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Halle Hilton[edit]

Hello, Theworldgymnast1,

Thank you for creating Halle Hilton.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

First off, please forgive my starting the feedback with a critical point, but I thought I should be plain with you that there is a major concern with the sourcing of the article which may cause it to be nominated for deletion if it is not addressed. Specifically, you have only one source which provides anything like detailed coverage of the subject by a reliable source, and that is a single brief piece about the subject in local newspaper's online edition. I'm therefore concerned that the subject will be found to not meet our general notability guideline, and of further concern is that the subject may also not meet even WP:NATHLETE, which could possibly given temporary presumption of notability while you find additional sources or wait for them to develop. It is my opinion that if the article were put up for AfD right now, it would probably not be maintained, as the remaining four sources are only ranking data in online indexes. If possible, I would therefore augment the sourcing, particularly with any RS that discuss the subject in some detail. In all other respects, the article, though very short, is competently written: citation style could be tighter, though, as URLS alone are problematic and you have no citation markup. In any event, I hope you can preserve your work here. Please do not hesitate to let me know if I can be of further assistance.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Snow Rise}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.
