Revision as of 16:34, 25 February 2024

To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.

  • Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
  • Offer a correction if possible.
  • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
  • Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 03:59 on 19 November 2024) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
  • Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
  • Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
  • No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
  • Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
  • Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

Errors with "In the news"

Errors in "Did you know ..."

  • ... that the principal of a high school in Taiwan resigned after students held a Nazi-themed parade, complete with mock uniforms and a cardboard tank? I'm curious to hear if this focuses too much on negativity on a living person or not? Therapyisgood (talk) 16:34, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Errors in "On this day"

  • For the entry on the Cave of the Patriarchs massacre, "Muslim Arabs" should be changed to "Palestinian Muslims" for better specificity and accuracy. It also better reflects the article, as it refers to the victims as "Palestinian Muslims" instead of "Muslim Arabs".

  • Monday 26 Feb - A few tweaks needed here pls...
1. "One hundred and thirty-three five-wicket hauls have been taken by 118 different players in Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket."
MOS:NUMNOTES says "Adjacent quantities not comparable should ideally be in different formats". If anyone else thinks the current format is maybe awkward, (and remembering "Avoid beginning a sentence with a figure"), two suggestions are:
a) There have been 133 five-wicket hauls taken by 118 different players in Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket.
b) In Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket there have been 133 five-wicket hauls taken by 118 different players.
2. The list now has 137 entries (last haul 15 Feb). Bs1jac has kindly corrected other editors' errors in the list's latest entries. So now, "One hundred and thirty-three" (or 133) becomes 137
3. "118 different players" becomes 121. (An increment of only 3, not 4 per list, because one bowler already appeared on the list.)

Also pinging FL nom Vensatry, in case you'd like to review before this runs on the main page. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 13:40, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
