Miss World 2019 will be the 69th edition of the Miss World pageant. It will be held on December 14, 2019 at the ExCeL London in London, United Kingdom.[1] Vanessa Ponce of Mexico will crown her successor at the end of the event.

Background

The official announcement was made on February 19, 2019, in Bangkok, by Miss World President Julia Morley, CEO Tanawat Wansom of TW Pageants and guest Ashwani Kumar Rai. They announced a mid-December date for the contest.[2] However, on July 2, 2019, Morley and Vanessa Ponce, the reigning Miss World, appeared on Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan. Morley officially announced that the pageant will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at ExCeL London and that Miss World 2020 will be held in Thailand in order to celebrate Miss World’s 70th anniversary. The 2019 opening ceremony will be held in London on November 20. Contestants will then compete in a series of fast track events around London.[3]

Designation

  1. ^ BELARUS – Anastasia Laurynchuk was appointed to represent Belarus, after no national pageant was held because the Miss Belarus pageant is a bi-annual event. It was last time held in 2018. Anastasia was 2nd runner-up at the Miss Belarus 2018 pageant.
  2. ^ GUYANA – Joylyn Conway was appointed Miss Guyana 2019 by Natasha Martindale after Miss World Guyana Pageant move to 2020. Conway was 1st runner-up at the Miss World Guyana 2018 pageant.

Replacements

  1. ^ FRANCE – Guadeloupean Ophély Mézino was appointed to represent France, after the original winner Vaimalama Chaves announced that she would not represent at Miss World 2019 and Miss Universe 2019 but instead she would rather accompany the contestants of Miss France 2020 during their trip in Tahiti, which would have conflicted in her preparation for the international pageants. An interesting fact is that Mézino will compete against her countrywoman Anaïs Lacalmontie who will be representing the franchise of her native island.
