Wikipedia:WikiProject Ukraine

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Seiya (talk | contribs) at 07:02, 13 July 2018 (→‎20px Good articles: Removing the Kievan Offensive (not a good article anymore), adding Crimean Tatars (new good article)). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome to the Ukraine WikiProject, a collaboration area and group of editors dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of Ukraine.

(For more information on WikiProjects, please see Wikipedia:WikiProject and the Guide to WikiProjects).

Goals
  • To improve and assess Ukraine-related articles.
Scope
  • Any article that is related to Ukraine.
Note
  • This Wikiproject does not substitute but complements the Ukraine Portal. While their functions somewhat overlap, the Portal is primarily aimed at generating the readers' interest to Ukraine-related articles and help navigate the Ukrainian topics. This project is more like a working horse while the portal is the product in itself.

Guidelines

This page includes helpful resources, guides, and standards for creating and editing articles within the scope of the Ukraine WikiProject. If you need help on an article you're working on, look here first.

Hermitech Laboratory (Zhytomyr, Ukraine) develops mathematical software tools. It's now up for AfD for lack of sources, a situation that always leaves me uncomfortable, due WP:BIAS, Cyrillic alphabet, Argument from ignorance etc. Could somebody please confirm lack of independent mention in Ukrainian media -- please comment on the AfD page. The article Mykola Mazepa was translated by machine from the article in the Ukrainian Wikipedia. Comments and additional references would be appreciated. I can't tell whether the person’s accomplishments add up to notability. — Eastmain (talkcontribs) 23:41, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yanukovych and wreath

On May 17, 2010 during a ceremony where the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev was present, the Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych was hit by a pine wreath picked up by a gust of wind.[1][2][3][4][5][6] The wreath "assault" was later aired on several national channels (1+1, STB, Shuster Live, others).[7] Even though the accident was censored as much as possible on the Russian internet it continues to be shown through other non-Russian electronic media.[8] The incident stirred numerous creative ideas in Ukraine and abroad[9] and was named as the Pine Struggle (Ukrainian: Ялинковий спротив).[10] The event coincided with Yanukovych's intent to sign an agreement with the Russian Federation to give up some of the Ukrainian territories in Crimea.[11][12] Viktor Yanukovych called it demilitation (Russian: демилитация).[13] The Kievan Brotherhood society filed criminal charges on the presidential escort for their negligence.

Apparently some Garik 11 does not like this fact and keeps on deleting it. He calls it gibberish. That incident also is mentioned on the other versions of Wikipedia. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 18:18, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
