This year saw the highest number of hits in a year and also the highest release count (around 155 films).

  • Dabangg 2 is 2nd highest grossing movie of the year 2012 and is a sequel to the 2010 film Dabangg.The film features Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha reprising their roles from the previous film, whilst Prakash Raj plays the antagonist. The film broke the record of highest first day grossing 19.21 crore for a non holiday release.[5] The film crossed the 1 billion mark in just 8 days and is the fifth film of Salman Khan, in a row to cross 1 billion.

This is 5rd highest grossing-film this year by doing business of ₹133 crore (US$17 million) at the domestic box office in 2012. It broke first day non holiday record by collecting ₹15.06 crore (US$1.9 million) at domestic Box Office earlier created by Housefull 2 148 million. Rowdy Rathore has been most appreciate movie of this year having Best Word of Mouth. It is Akshay Kumar's and Sonakshi Sinha's 2nd film to cross 1 billion at the Domestic Box Office this year.[6]
  • Agneepath is a 2012 Bollywood action drama film produced by Hiroo Yash Johar. This is the 4th highest grossing of the year having collected ₹123 crore (US$15 million) at Domestic Box Office and ₹193 crore (US$24 million) worldwide. This film broke the highest opening day record by collecting ₹22 crore (US$2.8 million) on first day at domestic box office (it was later beaten by Ek Tha Tiger) due to government holiday. This is Hrithik Roshan's first film & Priyanka Chopra's second film to cross the ₹100 crore (US$13 million) and was first film of the year to do so.[7]
  • Housefull 2 The Dirty Dozen is the sequel of Sajid Khan's earlier film HOUSEFULL which is full of super stars of Bollywood. This Movie is the 3rd highest grossing film of the year & the 5th highest-grossing film of the year having collected ₹113 crore (US$14 million) at domestic box office and ₹186 crore (US$23 million)worldwide. This is the first film of Akshay Kumar, John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez to cross ₹100 crore (US$13 million), Asin Thottumkal's third film to cross the 1 billion mark and one of the two films of the year to do that so. It is the sequel to Housefull (2010).[8]
  • Barfi! is currently the 6th highest-grossing film of the year having collected ₹1.06 billion at domestic box office. This is Ranbir Kapoor's first and Priyanka Chopra's third ₹100 crore (US$13 million) film.[9] It is also Priyanka Chopra's second film of the year to cross the ₹100 crore (US$13 million) mark.
