Revision as of 13:57, 26 August 2021

To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.

  • Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
  • Offer a correction if possible.
  • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
  • Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 21:15 on 19 August 2024) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
  • Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
  • Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
  • No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
  • Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
  • Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

I don't disagree, but they are separate articles. Gog the Mild (talk) 12:45, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm, somewhat Obscure. OTH there weren't many 7-minute rock hits with such sublime lyrics as na na na na na na na na na na.

(August 19, today)

Most of the blurb of today's POTD is unreferenced. In particular:

  • "the secondary central business district of London" - unsourced (I'm also not entirely sure what this means).
  • "one of the main financial centres in the United Kingdom and the world" - unsourced
  • "One Canada Square, which opened on 26 August 1991" - this date is mentioned in the Canary Wharf article at all, even though I'm assuming this makes the POTD a date-specific one.
  • "third-tallest in the UK" - this seems to be outdated. The source now has it as fourth-tallest.

There seem to have been an increasing number of POTD issues with unsourced prose on the main page lately, which is slightly surprising as I think we had reached a good place with this earlier this year. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 08:07, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We had one a few days ago which I noted and was simply ignored for about 14 hours. It's not good enough. The Rambling Man (Keep wearing the mask...) 08:14, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed. Well it doesn't look like we're going to get much response here, so I've fixed it myself by tweaking the lead to reflect what sources say, and updating the POTD blurb accordingly. We are probably due another chat on the project's talk page over how we avoid unsourced material appearing on the main page going forward. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 10:55, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
