Rayachoti is a town in Kadapa district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

It is a municipality in Rayachoti mandal of Kadapa revenue division.[2]

Geography

Rayachoti is located at 14°03′N 78°45′E / 14.05°N 78.75°E / 14.05; 78.75. It has an average elevation of 1200 metres (3,900 feet).

Demographics

As of 2011 India census,[3] Rayachoti had a population of 1,73,266. Males constitute 50.9% of the population and females 49.1%. Rayachoti has an average literacy rate of 61.6%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 73%, and female literacy is 51%. In Rayachoti, 18% of the population is under six years of age.

A very old temple dating to the Chola dynasty is situated in the heart of the town
