Revision as of 14:12, 27 February 2014
The use of crowdfunding campaigns for video game development had been one means of securing funds prior to 2012 though had remained a less-popular option. When Double Fine Adventure (now titled as Broken Age) completed its successful Kickstarter campaign in March 2012 and raised nearly ten times the target funds, the crowdfunding mechanism became a viable options for some developers.[1]
The following is an incomplete list of notable video game projects (in hardware, software, and related media) that have undergone crowdfunding attempts for funding. The list includes the amount of requested funds set by the campaign and, if successful, the total amount obtained (in monetary values at the time of the crowdfunding campaign).
