The DYK hook for [[strandflat]] is not supported by the source within the article. The hook says, "that strandflats are the most studied coastal landform in Norway?" |
|||
The article says, "Despite being the most studied coastal landform in Norway as of 2013, there is no consensus as to the origin of strandflats.[8][7][not in citation given]," which is not the same. |
|||
This factoid is not in the citation from 2013; it is mentioned in the 1982 citation that strandflats are the most studied coastal landforms in Norway, but the 1982 source does not say "as of 2013." The 2013 article does not appear to say this at all. |
|||
Are they still the most studied coastal landform in Norway? Was this only true as of 2013, but the wrong citation was attached? Was this true as of 1982, but has since changed? What information is being transmitted all over the Web courtesy of Wikipedia DYK? |
|||
This hook should be removed from the main page or accurately supported within the article and within the article attached to the correct citation. |

Revision as of 16:39, 26 March 2018
Please post error reports regarding only what is currently or imminently on the Main Page. For general discussion about the Main Page, please use its talk page. |
Most issues relating to national variations of the English language have already been discussed here at length:
|
To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.
- Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
- Offer a correction if possible.
- References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
- Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 07:08 on 26 August 2024) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
- Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
- Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
- No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
- Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
- Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

Millions globally? I saw that claim, currently unsourced, in the article. But I doubt its accuracy and we need some RS sources, ideally more than one, to back it up. I've been looking around and I'm not finding any reliable sources claiming millions. The estimates for the Washington march run from low to high six figures. And I have not seen anything suggesting that the other marches were exceptionally large. -Ad Orientem (talk) 15:11, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- Estimated at 1.2 million, potentially as high as 1.8 million.[1] – Muboshgu (talk) 15:45, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

- Pinging Borsoka, who added the sourced March 13 date and might be helpful here. I see the March 27 date in several other webpages, but they might have taken it from us. Newyorkbrad (talk) 07:23, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- I suspect (but haven't fully checked) that the difference in dates may be due to one source quoting the Julian calendar and the other the Gregorian. The hook should specify which, ideally. Careful With That Axe, Eugene Hello... 11:04, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- I looked at that possibility, but the Julian-Gregorian discrepancy in 1613 was 10 days, while the difference here is 14. Regards, Newyorkbrad (talk) 11:30, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

- If we don't get clarification above then I think the higher priority is replacing the Bathory item, as we really shouldn't risk posting an OTD on the wrong day. Newyorkbrad (talk) 15:32, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- For Praed, the library links in the bibliography section serve as the references, but I'll add another one to the National Library of Australia if it will make you feel better. —howcheng {chat} 16:08, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
