Freebird Airlines (Turkish: Hürkuş Havayolu Taşımacılık ve Ticaret A.Ş.) is an airline based in Florya, Bakirköy, Istanbul, Turkey.[1] It operates holiday charter flights in Europe to and from Turkish holiday resorts. Its main base is Atatürk International Airport, Istanbul, with hubs at Antalya Airport and Dalaman Airport.[2]

History

The airline was established in June 2000 and started operations on April 5, 2001 with a service between Istanbul and Lyon using a McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft.[3]

In November 2003 the airline received its first Airbus A320 aircraft, and today the fleet is made up entirely of this aircraft family.

Freebird Airlines is wholly owned by Gözen Air Services and has 242 employees (in March 2007).[2]
