Ecobank Uganda is a commercial bank in Uganda. It is one of the commercial banks licensed by Bank of Uganda, the central bank and national banking regulator.[1]

Location

The headquarters of Ecobank Uganda are located at 4 Parliament Avenue, in the Central Division of Kampala, the capital and largest city in Uganda.[2] The coordinates of he bank's headquarters are:0°18'47.0"N, 32°35'06.0"E (Latitude:0.313050; Longitude:32.585000).[3]

Overview

The bank began operations in Uganda on 19 January 2009 as a full-service bank providing wholesale, retail, investment and transaction banking services and products to governments, financial institutions, multinationals, international organizations, medium, small and micro businesses and individuals.[2] As of 31 December 2014, the bank's total assets were $81.3 million (USh278.8 billion), with shareholders' equity of $13.7 million (USh46.9 billion).[4]

Ownership

Ecobank Uganda is a subsidiary of Ecobank Transnational, a banking conglomerate headquartered in Lome, Togo.[5]

Parent company

Ecobank Transnational Inc. (ETI) is the parent company of the Ecobank Group which includes the following specialized subsidiaries:[6]

The stock of ETI is traded on three African stock exchanges, namely; the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BRVM stock exchange in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Management team

Micheal Monari is the Managing Director of Ecobank (Uganda). He was appointed to that position in October 2011, replacing Dele Alabi, who was relocated to Ecobank Nigeria.[7]

New branches are planned in Mbale, Arua, Mbarara and Gulu.[12] A branch is planned in Amuru in Northern Uganda, but has not been opened as of May 2014.[13]
