This is a List of shopping malls in the Philippines. The retail industry in the Philippines is an important contributor to the national economy as it accounts for roughly 15% of the Philippines' total Gross National Product (GNP) and 33% of the entire services sector. It employs some 5.25 million people, representing a significant 18% of the Philippines' work force, which means roughly 2 of every ten (10) workers is employed in the retail industry. The Philippine Retailers Association is its association of retailers, mall and shopping center operators.

Cagayan de Oro City is the shopping capital of the Northern Mindanao region. Residents from nearby provinces visit the city to shop and enjoy the mall facilities, with numerous department stores, supermarkets, retail stores and modern public markets.

Among the biggest malls in the city is Limketkai Center. It was established more than a decade ago. SM Prime Holdings and Robinsons Land Corporation are drawing plans to further expand their mall operations in the city proper.

Shopping Center and Malls

  • Limketkai Center is the Pride of Cagayan de Oro which covers around 25 hectares making it one of the most expansive commercial complexes in the country. It is located in Barangay Lapasan, near the National Highway. It is the first mall in the city and outside Metro Manila. It is owned by Limketkai Corporation, a local company. It has a supermarket and department store operated by Plaza Fair and Robinsons. There are several boutiques, food outlets and small shops (Tiangge) operating. The Atrium (Entertainment Hall) can accommodate over 3,000 people and has already hosted several local and foreign concerts, conventions, exhibits, and other events. Events held in the Atrium include concerts by local and foreign artists, beauty pageants, including the annual Miss Kagay-an Tourism, local and national conventions.

  • Divisoria Night Café and Market is set up on Friday and Saturday nights. Locals and visitors gather in the streets of Divisoria to have barbecue and seafood, among many choices, and enjoy the music, beer, and also the great bargains from the nearby Night Market.
  • Ayala Center Cagayan de Oro [9] is a proposed shopping mall located in Barangay Indahag, Ayala Business Park and it would be the biggest Ayala malls on the island of Mindanao.

As the center of commerce in Western Mindanao, the City of Zamboanga are now serving five shopping malls and major campanies expressed their interests to invest the city of Zamboanga. Zamboanga City surrounded of numerous department stores, supermarkets and retail stores. Alta Mall, of Zamboanga City, was the first shopping mall in Zamboanga Peninsula region in the 1980s. It was turned into a barter center after most of the shops are closed. Alta Mall was closed in 1996 and remained vacant at the present time.

Originally owned by Shoppers' Chain of Stores Inc. based in Zamboanga City Business District. In mid-1990s the company was divided into two companies: the Huylian Development Corporation and ACLEM Properties, Inc. after the owner's death.

Shoppers' Mall owned by the Shoppers' Chain of Stores, Inc. (Huylian Development Corporation) located between Ledesma St. and Climaco Avenue, Zamboanga City. The 10-story commercial complex id to be probably the tallest mall in the philippines.

Pagadian City Malls

Peoples' Plaza in Pagadian City is the first major shopping center in Zamboanga del Sur. The recent investor in Pagadian is the Gaisano Capital Group, Gaisano Capital Pagadian is the biggest mall in Zamboanga Peninsula. Best Emporium a dominant retail owner in Zamboanga, has now its own mall in Pagadian, The Best Emporium Megamall it is large as Gaisano Capital.

Currently the local government is constructing a new multi-million shopping mall in Pagadian, with a total budget of 500 million the mall is also utilized as the site of most regional offices in Pagadian, it will be called Pagadian Shopping Mall. It was later changed to C3 (City Commercial Center) after the proposed project, designed by Palafox and Associates, was changed into a new structure locally designed.

The NCCC mall, has highly expressed to the Pagadianon, that they are proposing their first mall in the region. The NCCC management are now having negotiation with the Eton Properties, for they are willing to put-up a mall to the Proposed Hotel Grande to the city itself.

Zamboanga del Norte (ZANORTE) Malls

In Zamboanga de Norte, the recent mall operator that has opened its door to the public is the Lee Plaza City Central in the capital city of Dipolog own by Dynamic Development Corporation, a Dumaguete based company. Gaisano is also set to construct a mall in the city within this year and mall operators SM and Robinsons have scouted lands in the city where they proposed to construct their malls soon as these two giant mall operators saw the business potential of the city with its proximity to the cities of Dumaguete, Oroquieta, Ozamiz and Pagadian. [3] Its twin city, the Shrine City of Dapitan is also having its major development in retail industry due to increased in tourists arrival. The Shrine City's prime commercial complex, Gloria de Dapitan is undertaking a major expansion with the sprout of new investments like the under construction Teatro de Dapitan which is proposed to have 2 cinemas, a BPO office, supermarket, Jollibee, Tokyo-Tokyo, Mc Donalds, Chowking, KFC, Figaro Coffee Shop and a lot more with its leasable spaces. New food kiosks were also constructed inside the complex as investors anticipate increase tourists arrival in the complex with the opening of a theme park, Fantasy Land this April.
