Lokhandwala Complex Andheri, also known as Lokhandwala, is a large residential and commercial area in Oshiwara village of Andheri, 28 km from Mumbai, India. It is approximately 8 km from Andheri station. The name Lokhandwala comes from the name of the developer with the construction firm of Lokhandwala Constructions Pvt. Ltd. This was the primary developer of the suburb of Versova, which was previously basically a marshland. The official name for the area is Samartha Nagar as there is Shree Swami Samartha Temple near the Complex entrance.

Development

When Siraj Lokhandwala, proprietor of Lokhandwala Constructions, spotted the vast marshland in the area of Oshiwara, Versova in 1978 he decided to purchase the area for a development. He was discouraged by every broker in town from buying the land simply because they felt that no one would want to live so far from the center of Mumbai. In reality the Lokhandwala Complex is built on the land of Oshiwara.

Bollywood lives here (Actors, Film Directors, Film writers,Producers and most of the people who are working in Indian Film and Television Industry). Most of NRIs Non-Resident Indians also live here. This area of Oshiwara or Lokhandwala complex has many Shopping Malls, Multiplexes, Clubs, Jogging Parks, Fitness Centers etc. etc. Biggest Malls are on Link Road Oshiwara/Lokhandwala. Mega Mall is the biggest Mall in this area and is on New Link Road Oshiwara.

Small to very large, modest to luxurious apartments. Well connected by public transport. 10 km from airport, 5 km from Andheri Station. Trains both slow and fast from Andheri Station to Churchgate which takes 33 minutes.

There are several gardens in Lokhandwala which reserve a green patch in the middle. They also serve as venues for a yoga club, laughter club, senior citizens activities, sports meets for children, etc. Developer Vikas Walavalkar has developed Walavalkar Park which is adjudged as the best park of 5000 meters and more. This is very popular among health-conscious residents of area. There is a jogging track adjoining the Lokhandwala back road.
