Discovery+ (stylized as discovery+) is a streaming service owned and operated by Discovery, Inc., which features a catalog of programming from Discovery's linear and digital networks. It was first launched on March 23, 2020 in India, and is currently available in the United States and Europe.[1]
History
Discovery, Inc. originally launched Discovery+ in India on March 23, 2020, and included content from Discovery's various brands.[2] In September 2020, Discovery announced plans to launch an international version of Discovery+ in early 2021.[3]
In October 2020, it was announced that Dplay would be renamed Discovery+ in the United Kingdom and Ireland in the following month.[4]
On January 4, 2021, Discovery+ launched in the U.S. with both a paid ad-supported plan and an ad-free plan.[5][6]
Device support and service features
Discovery+ is available for streaming via web browsers on PC and Mac, as well as apps on Apple iOS devices and Apple TV, Android mobile devices and Android TV, Amazon devices such as Fire TV and Fire HD, Chromecast, Roku devices, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and Series S.[7]
