Iraqi Beauty Pageants

The Iraqi Beauty Pageant contest started in 1947. All of the beauty contests are still held in Baghdad in Al-Alwaiyah center. Sources disagree on the location. According to the website The History of the Miss Iraq Pageant: "The 2011, 2012, 2013 Miss Iraq Pageants were held in Kenya. 2014 Miss Iraq was held in Istanbul-Turkey, the 2015 edition will take place in Cyprus on December 16th". In 2013, Erbil started holding the first beauty contest for Kurdish speakers only organized by a Lebanese management group. 
Renee Dankour (Arabic:رينيه دنكور), was the first beauty pageant winner to be crowned as Miss Iraq in 1947. Dankour came from a famous Iraqi-Jewish family in Baghdad. She was born and raised in Baghdad. 
Kamila Barak was crowned as Miss Iraq 1950. She was born and raised in Baghdad.
Aya was born and raised in Baghdad of Iraqi Arab parents. She was crowned Miss Iraq in 1962.
Wijdan Sulyman was crowned Miss Iraq in 1972. She was the first Iraqi Pageant winner to participate in Miss Universe.
Sandra Amer Hamad
Sandra was born in Denmark to an Iraqi father and a Bulgarian mother. She was crowned Miss Iraq in 2011.
Safaa was born in Baghdad of Iraqi Arab parents. She moved to Cairo with her family after 2003. She studied at the International Academy for Engineering and Media Science University in Egypt and graduated with a degree in Journalism and Media. She was crowned Miss Iraq 2012 and the first runner-up in Miss Arab World 2012.
Shameram was born in Baghdad. She was crowned Miss Mesopotamia 2013 in a beauty contest based in Australia.
Klodia Khalaf was crowned Miss Intercontinental Iraq 2014 in a beauty contest based in Europe.
