SA Army articles[edit]

It seems to me that the two of us make a pretty good "tag team" fixing up these articles. Cheers! I'll now add a summary text under each corps heading in the main SA Army article - we can't have sections that contain only a "main article" link. Roger (talk) 11:03, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Adding categories[edit]

I've had to revert some of the categories you added to a few SA Army articles today. The problem is that you were adding parent categories of categories that were already on the articles concerned. I'll illustrate the issue with a simplistic example: The article "Poodles" would be in category "Dogs". Adding Category "Mammals" is redundant because Category "Dogs" is already listed as a subcategory of Category Mammals. The idea is to add articles to the "lowest" possible relevant level of Categories - they are then automatically included in the entire string of "parent" categories - Dogs > Canines > Carnivores > Mammals > Vertebrates > and so on... Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Montsalvat – A Symphony of Mud and Stone[edit]

Hello Gbawden. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Montsalvat – A Symphony of Mud and Stone to a proposed deletion tag. It should certainly go - I'm amazed it has survived so long - but it doesn't really fit any speedy category. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 11:54, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

South African military topics.[edit]

If you're really interested in keeping in touch with happenings in and around the SANDF there are two websites that are absolutely essential reading - DefenceWeb - a news website and the Unofficial SAAF Website particularly the forum on the SAAF site. It's run by one of the Defenceweb journalists. In spite of its name the SAAF forum covers the full spectrum of defence topics and also civil aviation to some extent. Just be aware that while DefenceWeb is a reliable source, the SAAF forum is not, though it does often point out new developments and the members are very good at digging out good sources on a very wide variety of topics. Cheers! Roger (talk) 07:09, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks - have come accross both via google but will add them to my list of sites to visit daily or at least regularly. Gbawden (talk) 07:17, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

44 Parachute Brigade[edit]

Dear Gbawden,

Please I respectfully request that you restore 1 Parachute Battalion back under the umbrella of 44 Parachute Brigade. All the content pictures were compiled and collated by myself and was created with the combined help of all the members of 44 Parachute Brigade. I am going to take this matter up with the membership will also be posting this to the other admins. Please restore it as the entire Brigade and it's context is written in relation to all the Battalions. I would also like to know the rationale for this in not requesting permission first as I am but a custodian of the whole group having put this together with the guidance of those who contributed (See references) Please restore kindly. Smikect 14:10, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Dear Gbawden, I see you have split off 18 light regiment as well. Please the context of these units need to be read in relation of the entire Brigade. 18 Light Regiment is a reserve unit of the brigade. You need to consult with the original content provider and compiler before you split things off please. The entire Wiki took me many many months to compile with much collaboration of content providers and putting pics together. In a few minutes you split off what took alot of effort to put together. Please restore back to 44 Parachute Brigade as it waters the entire brigade down if its individual units are split off. Smikect 14:30, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

You must leave at least a brief summary about each sub-unit in the brigade article. A link alone is not acceptable. An easy way to do this is to basically copy the lead of the subunit article into the brigade article - I've just done this. Please also never put "content forthcoming" in a "live" article. An article's integrity as an independent entity must never be compromised by having "holes" pointed out like that. Roger (talk) 17:23, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Talk page stalker[edit]

I just saw the note you left on my review and I'd like to clear up something. The phrase "talk page stalker" is a widely used and recognised way to refer to people who watch each other's talk pages. It is not a derogatory term at all, in fact it's meant as a friendly term. Please see WP:TPS. Roger (talk) 20:45, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

digitalreasoning.com searches as sources[edit]

I noticed you added at least two of these. Both are currently dead links. Could you look through them? That are the documents you're linking? Are they reliable sources? --Ronz (talk) 16:39, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! The other you added is in Gilbert Ramano. If you saved a copy of the source for Johan Retief, what is the actual document? There are a number of others like this that other editors have added that I'm trying to figure if they belong regardless of whether the link works or not. --Ronz (talk) 15:29, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Some of the others are government press releases. I expect that other copies are available, in any case. Looks like digitalreasoning was (is?) just keeping copies of information found elsewhere.--Ronz (talk) 15:48, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject Wikify and the future of wikification[edit]

Solution[edit]

File:Vice Admiral A. P. Putter SAN.jpg Select this photo which I have uploaded and copy the license conditions used. Re-use them in an edited form (names and Wiki-page links) for the other personalities you want to upload. This license description is usually acceptable on Wikipedia, but not on Wiki-Commons - so ensure you are uploading to Wikipedia. Then, also important to note is that the photo must be linked to a Wiki page. Non-free use images which are not linked to pages are batched for speedy deletion (note the red-link in the photo description: That link should be edited to point to the appropriate page where the image is used). I have not linked this one to a Wiki page - so it will go down the tubes soon if not linked. And, well done on your efforts on the SADF pages! Farawayman (talk) 20:48, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

SA Army recruiment forms link[edit]

I removed it because it violates the WP:NOTGUIDE rule. Curing the stupidity of readers is not our role. The Official website link is sufficient - if readers of the army's website can't find the information they want, it's the army's problem, not ours. IMHO most of the "Feedback comments" are complete crap and should be ignored. It seems to me that most WP readers are barely literate. Roger (talk) 20:03, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

How to rescue all these images[edit]

Use {{Non-free symbol}} to explain the copyright status of the file and then use {{Non-free use rationale logo}} to justify each use of the image. Roger (talk) 09:33, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. Also I think I will avoid uploading on Commons! Apparently commons doesn't do Fair Use. It does seem though that there is a new admin who is like a 19yr old in the army with a bit of rank! Farawayman had images on commons since 2009 without any issues and now those images are being targeted. Gbawden (talk) 09:37, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Take a look at the conversation I started at WT:Non-free content#Fair use rationales for official logos, I hope they consider my suggestions seriously. Yes Commons is only for totally free stuff, fair use is not allowed there. Roger (talk) 09:48, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Once the logos have been deleted off commons I will re-add them on WP using the templates you suggest. Thanks for your work on this, you hit the nail on the head. Gbawden (talk) 09:59, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Rather add them to en:WP now and change the links in the articles before the deletions happen, so that the articles are not damaged by the deletions. Article readers should not notice any diffence when the images are replaced but if they first dissapear and themn only later get replaced that "damages" the credibility of the articles. Roger (talk) 12:06, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Good point. I have started with the rank images. Just hope no-one complains that there is a duplicate on commons Gbawden (talk) 12:36, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
After uploading images to WP and adding them to the rank templates to replace the ones on commons marked for deletions, our overzealous admin friend is now going behind me deleting the images from the templates. Ai tog Gbawden (talk) 14:25, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Per WP:NFCC#9 and the Foundation's resolution on non-free media, the only place where non-free media can be used is in main case. You cannot use non-free images in templates, period. --MASEM (t) 15:22, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
In that case we expect you to prove your fairness and neutrality by deleting the military rank insignia templates for all the other countries too. Roger (talk) 15:46, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
If those ranks are using non-free images, sure. You'd have to point which templates are at fault to show that. If the images are free, however, that's just fine, but that begs the question if they really need to be put into a template like this. --MASEM (t) 16:55, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Well the template contains just a simple table, so I don't really understand why wrapping a table in a template makes such a difference to the fair use status of images in the table? Roger (talk) 17:13, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Also, how would we go about obtaining free images for these images? Is it even possible? Would it count as free if we were to convert them into self-created SVGs? I find this all quite confusing. Darren (talk) 19:39, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Please read WP:NFTABLE: non-free images are not allowed in tables, regardless of whether the tables are in a template or not. And for the record, I'm not an admin. --Stefan2 (talk) 19:43, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
The insigna have creative elements that make it impossible for those to be free images until they fall into the public domain, redrawing them will not help (that makes them derivative works and still copyright protected). --MASEM (t) 12:46, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
It would have been nice if Stefan2 had explained that I can't use it in templates when he went around deleting. Glad to see we have such diligent users out there. Such a pity we can't put it into tables - going to look hound ugly Gbawden (talk) 12:56, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
In fact WP:NFTABLE does not totally prohibit NF images in tables. It allows a case to be made for exemption. I believe arranging a number of closely related images (rank insignia, which need to be displayed in a fixed sequence) in a tabular layout is a strong argument for such an exemption. The alternative does indeed look "hound ugly". Roger (talk) 13:40, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
Roger the risk here is that if I add them to a table and the over zealous type then deletes the images from the table, the images become orphaned. I am away next week and if they aren't used in an article they get deleted, so I would have to upload them all over again. Gbawden (talk) 13:42, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
I would like to know why none of the other articles that use rank insignia tables based on the NATO rank templates are getting this treatment. Why are they picking on SANDF articles only? Is this a case of WP:Wikihounding? Roger (talk) 13:49, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
I suspect so. It is unusual for a user/admin to mark items for deletion on Commons then go to each template and delete them (and infoboxes and and), normally they wait for the bot to do it! Things have become a bit more sensible since Masem has become involved. I didn't want to make a fuss and start an all out argie bargie. I need a drink Gbawden (talk) 13:52, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

We do have an interesting problem then. I suspect one reason why certain other images in tables, such as NATO rank templates, are ok is because any creative work by the US government enters into the public domain in terms of copyright, to my knowledge. I think it may be worthwhile trying to ascertain the exact legal status of works created by the South African government, though I suspect they'll be licensed under terms incompatible with Wikipedia. Still, worth a shot, does anybody have any legal contacts in this area? Darren (talk) 16:07, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

The Nato rank templates are used for articles covering the whole of NATO and quite a few other countries - not only the US. South African government copyright is based on British Crown copyright as used by the UK and other countries under the British crown, such as Canada, Australia, etc. so their tables should be "attacked" just like ours. Roger (talk) 16:55, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

A. J. C. Jooste High School[edit]

Please note that a WP:PROD is a one-use only thing. Once deprodded, an article should never be prodded again. Take to AfD if you still want it deleted (although also note that it is virtually unheard of for a verified secondary school to be deleted there). -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:18, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks wasn't aware of that. I am still not convinced that this school is notable. As I see it it fails the Significant coverage and Sources requirement. A google search just generates a name and address listing across multiple websites, nothing useful that can fill out this article Gbawden (talk) 13:55, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Andreas Raab was the brains behind a number of extraordinary advancements in the fields of Object Oriented Programming, OO UI design, 3D Immersive Collaboration Croquet, and he was the father of the Squeak community. He was also the person that brought Alan Kay's Squeak program to the Windows Operating system. His code is the basis for a huge number of production programs. I will try to add more content to ensure that his accomplishments are better appreciated by someone reading the article. itsmeront —Preceding undated comment added 16:23, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Dennis P. McCann, proposed deletion due to lack of reference[edit]

I've added a reference. A link to a Turkish Ministry of Culture Page. Unfortunately, because I live in Turkey, any press references to me or my work from the past 8 years will be in Turkish. The press I received in the US when I lived there is unfortunately not online, though I do have scans of much of it. I'm a painter - what sort of references would you want?

Also, please keep in mind that the article is simply a stub. It will be fleshed out later, with exhibition information, paintings in collections on several continents, affiliations such as UNESCO...

Please let me know if you require anything more, and please keep in mind that fine artists are not exactly front page news (sadly).

I'm reading "Chinese Revorushion (1946−1952)". My sincere apologies: we both are trying to fix up unambiguous WP:VANDALISM, and yet my better judgement went off in la-la land and/or Cocteau Twins fandom. Peter aka --Shirt58 (talk) 11:22, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

Mr Hare[edit]

I have removed your {{speedy deletion-significance}} tag from this article, as it is adequately referenced in local news, and via two articles in The Guardian. This is probably enough to survive an AfD, let alone a CSD. In general, you should not tag an article with sources for speedy deletion unless you are very confident every source is self-published (eg: Facebook, YouTube, other Wikipedia articles) and no reliable sources easily turn up on a search. Cheers. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:52, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for your comment about Mr. Hare. I do not agree that Mr. Hare should be taken down. I have a few questions for you if you don't mind? I'm new to this so would appreciate your help - Mr Hare is a great brand and I think they deserve to be on here.

'It is adequately referenced in local news, and via two articles in The Guardian. This is probably enough to survive an AfD, let alone a CSD. ' I'm not sure what you mean by AfD or CSD - please could you explain in more detail. I was under the impression that any relevant press, especially from respected press is great to support the article.

'In general, you should not tag an article with sources for speedy deletion unless you are very confident every source is self-published (eg: Facebook, YouTube, other Wikipedia articles) ' So should sources be coming from Mr Hare's social media pages?

'The article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.'

They have a large fan following, a respected list of stockists and brands that they have collaborated with. All press comes from a respected source. Is this not enough to carry the case? I would appreciate any help.

Thanks, Steph — Preceding unsigned comment added by Steph Davies (talkcontribs) 18:58, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

Scott Holland Memorial Lectures[edit]

While Scott Holland Memorial Lectures is a clear copy-paste, it is a list, and non-creative lists are not subject to copyright. This one isn't as clean-cut as some I've seen, if you disagree user:moonriddengirl is not just our copyright expert, but our list expert.

I think the article should be considered for deletion on other grounds, mainly notability. It may even fail importance, which would qualify as CSD, but I haven't looked closely. However, while happy to accept if MRG disagrees, I've declined this speedy and urge you to pursue other grounds.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 13:12, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi. :) I just wanted to let you know that I disagree with the speedy deletion of this under WP:CSD#A7. This article suggests its subject is discussed in several reference works about artists and indicates that his art is or has been displayed in several of the most important museums in Hungary. For starters the Bosnian Premier league is in fact listed at WP:FPL, but in the list of leagues that are not fully pro. This is not the only reason why I PROD'ed but it is part of the reason. Failing WP:NSPORT, a footballer may still be notability if he passes the general notability guideline, by having received significant coverage in reliable sources. Article Feedback Tool update[edit]

Hey Gbawden. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 21:38, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Paul Haddacks.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Paul Haddacks.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 01:14, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

Honours[edit]

Just noticed and reverted this edit you made back in January. Actually, the DCM is lower than the MC. One of the peculiarities of British decorations - although the DCM was a "second-level" decoration and the MC is a "third-level" decoration (and thus the DCM was awarded for a higher degree of gallantry), medals (awarded to other ranks only, except for the GM and QGM) are always ranked lower than crosses (awarded to officers and warrant officers only, except for the VC and GC) in the order of precedence and wear. Cheers. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:22, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for that. I learn something new every day! Appreciate the constructive feedback. Gbawden (talk) 12:10, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

Please take a look at Talk:South African National Defence Force[edit]

Hi. I took the liberty of moving a very incomplete and poorly written secion of the article (about external ops) to the talk page so that it can be tidied up and completed. I'd apreciate your assistance with this. (BTW - How about archiving the older sections on this page? It's getting very long.) Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:24, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

Will do - been a while since I looked at that page. Some of the deployment stuff should end up on a History type page Gbawden (talk) 09:46, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for November 29[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited History of the Cabinet of South Africa, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Barbara Thompson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A challenge[edit]

If you're looking for something to do, how about having a go at expanding Union Defence Force (South Africa) and South African Medical Service? Both topics are in your field of expertise. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 07:50, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

I will. I need to find the motivation though :) I am taking a bit of a break from military stuff and thinking about doing an article on Selborne Dry Dock in Simonstown. I am studying part time this year as well, although working on WP is a useful distraction. Gbawden (talk) 09:05, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Better source request for File:Alexander Picton Brereton.jpg[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 03:07, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 18[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Keith Coster, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Union Defence Force (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Non-free rationale for File:Harold Willmott.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Harold Willmott.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:02, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Guthrie Wilson[edit]

Yes Guthrie Wilson got the MC not the MM; have added links to the official histories about the action Hugo999 (talk) 11:39, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

Your recent deletion nominations[edit]

Mate, you appear to do some really good editing and research - I believe you got that photo of Simonstown that really adds value to the article - but honestly, can you not see that lists of organisations/units/people are valuable not just as of right now, but at key historical points in time? Personally I would really like to have a listing of units and command structure of the SA Army at the height of the war in the 1970s or 1980s. That would be really valuable to see what the strength of the army was in relation to SWAPO or the Angolans, or the Cubans or Mozambique? Would you not think that a detailed listing of the Cuban expeditionary force in Angola in the 1980s would be WP:Notable? Well, the only thing that stands between us and having such a listing is that we haven't done the research yet.
But for other articles, there's no mention of deleting the RAF's listing of fighter squadrons at the height of the Battle of Britain, is there? Even if a war did not actually take place, carefully compiling historical data about such forces and their organisation serves important historical research purposes, and builds our knowledge in general - and it's all GNG and RS etc.
So please, should you wish to continue nominating these kinds of articles for deletion, would you mind pausing while I start a thread on the WT:MILHIST page? What you're doing so far is advocating wiping away the fruits of tens of thousands of hours' work by User:Noclador and others. Please, if you wish to do this, pause for 36 hours while I start a discussion on the main page. Regards from New Zealand, Buckshot06 (talk) 01:52, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
Point taken. I understand a list per conflict but not necessarily per year during peace time. If the article wasn't an orphan I probably wouldn't have nominated it. It does bug me that my most notable work seems to be that photo :) Gbawden (talk) 06:31, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
Not per year in peace time, heavens, no, roughly every five years. Yeah, getting that photo puts you in the category of the people who go beyond the normal round; you really get a sense of how capable the base is.... Buckshot06 (talk) 08:06, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

I do not understand why my artice 49th Precinct was taken down. It is not an "orphan" article if you understand New York City where each precinct has a unique character befitting its neighborhood. BxPilot (talk) 20:14, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Wincham[edit]

Have you completed your editing of this article? Because, I don't know what you think, but to me it looks (and is) a mess. Do you have a special interest in this particular parish, or more information about it? I can see what you were trying to do but IMO your attempt has not been successful. There is no reference section; there is no explanation of what a listed building is. And the project banners are now stuck on a redirect page! If you look at Category:Lists of listed buildings in Cheshire you will see that each of the parishes and districts in Cheshire with more than one listed building has a stand-alone list of those buildings. By combining a list with the parish article you have created inconsistency across the work being done by the Cheshire wikiproject in this area. For this sort of action to produce consistency, the other 290 lists would have to be integrated (properly) with the articles. Are you prepared to do this? Is it necessary? If not, I intend to return the article and list to how they were before your editing, for consistency and better presentation to the reader. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 08:32, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply on my talk page. Yes, I agree that when looked at in isolation the list was rather small to stand alone. But in the context of the category, where do you draw the line? Three listed buildings, five, ten, twenty? I decided that each of the parishes should have its own list, maybe small, with a link to the article. Then we would have consistency across the Project, and I did not see that any harm was being done or any sin perpetuated. (By the way, I do not get excited about "orphans", and see little point in the tag - but that's only my opinion.) As I said above, I intend to return the situation to where it was. If anyone thinks better, there is a lot of work for them to do on the other lists, and IMO to no real purpose. Cheers. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 09:02, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

AfD[edit]

You nominated Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/United States Army Reserve Center, Rio Vista on then-perfectly valid grounds; it was an unreferenced stub. I invite you to take another look at the article since I have expanded it and added references. --MelanieN (talk) 22:06, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Kochek Oloom[edit]

I've declined your speedy there, and changed the W in the infobox link to an E as per the article text. That moves it from the Atlantic to Iran. Whether or not the place exists or is notable enough, I leave open. (After teaching map reading to young people, some of whom reckoned they lived in the Irish Sea, I'm careful about E and W, and the even harder + and - used in some GPS. Why couldn't they just use all 360 one way instead of having two 180s?) Peridon (talk) 11:30, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Incidentally, the map that now comes up has an interesting feature on it - a place called Carl E. Duckett. We don't seem to have an article on that place, fortunately. Might be an idea for someone to tell Google Maps, though. Peridon (talk) 11:38, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Schools in Cape Town[edit]

Thanks for the tip. I created the list as I had just returned from Wikimania where the South Africans were talking about doing a Joburgpedia in Cape Town. They did show a nice video based at a cape school. I'm not sure what the right classification was for SA schools as Im not sure which are State run and which are private.... so its tricky for me to add too many. Hopefully others like you will add a few and sort out a system, although I wanted to avoid a wall of red links. Keep me on the SA interest list. Cheers Victuallers (talk) 10:01, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

Nomination of List of countries without ice rinks and ice hockey for deletion[edit]

Excuse me, but are you nominate for deleting my new page I created? No offense, but is this page horrible? AaronWikia (talk) 13:47, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

Yes. 64.4.93.100 (talk) 18:12, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Well, that's not fair. Postdlf deleted my page I created because of unreferenced hockey-related junk articles such as Pakistan national ice hockey team, Indonesia Ice Hockey Association or United Arab Emirates at the Winter Olympics. AaronWikia (talk) 21:02, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

Webdesign international festival AfD[edit]

Thanks for working to clean up the encyclopedia. In case you're not aware, WP:PROD is usually a more efficient way to deal with articles like this. ~KvnG 03:42, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Nowhere Men[edit]

Hello there! You opened an AfD on Nowhere Men (comic) last week, which got relisted because no one commented. Since then, another editor and I have (independently of each other) heavily expanded the article and added quite a bunch of references. I'm hoping that you would consent to take a look at the article as it now stands and let me know if you still have concerns, whether on the front of notability (and thus AfD-related) or otherwise, as that would give me some direction in deciding what, if anything, to tackle next in regards to that article, especially as comics-related articles are rather far from my usual working area when it comes to content. If not, that's quite okay as well, just figured I could ask.
Have a nice day,
AddWittyNameHere (talk) 01:20, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for the response! I am glad that all concerns have been addressed. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 06:42, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Seeagand[edit]

Why do you say that this page it`s a copyright text, it's an interpretation of the poker variant seeagand rules. if is normal than text structure is similar and that should be the same steps.

How i can post this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CMMR 74 (talkcontribs) 09:33, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi the text is write for me and my own words, the only similarities are the steps, as it is the rules of a game and can not be changed, can be rewritten but not changed. In fact in other languages there has been no problems.

Victoria West[edit]

Hi - I see you've been removing links to Victoria West from Canadian articles as the main link is for the South African town. There is an article on the Canadian one (Victoria West, Greater Victoria) in case you'd rather link to that, rather than delink? Cheers, Number 57 09:38, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

PS, I see you also removed it from numerous South African articles, presumably by mistake? I hope you don't mind that I'm rolling those edits back. Cheers, Number 57 09:39, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
No problem. Number 57 10:06, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

Louisa Fennell I note you have recently added a notice on the article re Louisa Fennell that the article is being considered for deletion. I have just carefully re-checked the item and would be very pleased to hear your more specific comments as to why. The article is short, as public knowledge of her private life appears to be lacking and scant, but the citations and verifications appear to be in order. In what way would you suggest it should be cleaned up Whereas I accept that the subject is not a world renown artist like Goya or van Rijn (ALIAS Rembrandt) and is probably not very well known in Outer Mongolia, but she (or rather her name and her works) are well known and respected in the West Yorkshire area. Thanks in anticipation Alan M Alanfromwakefield (talk) 14:40, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: Future for Religious Heritage[edit]

Hello Gbawden. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Future for Religious Heritage, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 14:18, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Electronic Recycling Association[edit]

Hello Gbawden. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Electronic Recycling Association to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. Thank you. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 13:11, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
