Requests for page protection

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Upgrade to extended-confirmed indefinitely: Related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, and to the recent 2024 Lebanon pager explosions. ѕιη¢єяєℓу ƒяσм, ᗰOᗪ ᑕᖇEᗩTOᖇ 🏡 🗨 📝 22:57, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

Declined: no recent disruption, and not really that closely related to the conflict. Elli (talk | contribs) 23:23, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 23:07, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of three months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 02:54, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Multiple IP users repeatedly make changes and insert brand names and related content for those brands. Contrary to WP:MEDMOS. Also WP:COI, WP:NPOV. Whywhenwhohow (talk) 23:24, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of three weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 02:58, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated addition of logo that is nearly identical to current logo by several IPs, including two blocked as LTAs, without consensus. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 00:17, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of three months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 03:02, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:RUSUKR due to his past work as recruiter. LilianaUwU (talk / contributions) 00:20, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. And RUSUKR is a real stretch here IMO. Daniel Case (talk) 03:04, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Vandalism edits by Anonymous IP Address. Gunther :  Talk  00:27, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Daniel Case (talk) 03:05, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Non-EC users participating in EC-only discussions. Would suggest one month as that probably will be enough time for this to get out of the spotlight, can always be extended later. Awesome Aasim 02:53, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 03:08, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Still, the election is going on and some people are trying to change the president. PLEASE PROTECT THIS. IDB.S (talk) 13:21, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:PIA. ~~2NumForIce (speak|edits) 15:28, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protected indefinitely. Will log at CTOPS. Daniel Case (talk) 03:27, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Protection requested atleast until December 2024 to avoid unsourced additions by both IPs and new users. Eviction status keeps on getting updated based on speculations without any sources despite advicing not to do so. Even before premiere the speculations are being updates. The article was semi-protected twice in the span of 21 days. Thewikizoomer (talk) 15:33, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Also edit warring on the eviction issue by IPs too is observed. Thewikizoomer (talk) 15:34, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of three weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 03:31, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Long-term sockpuppetry by autoconfirmed accounts and IPs of WP:GENSEX POV-pusher Raxythecat since July 2023.

Here is a list of socks:

  • How I could just edit a wiki article (edited from July to August 2023; confirmed sock, same pattern of using "fixing"/"fixed" on edit summaries while removing content and editing on mobile devices)
  • 2804:431:F73C:AD80:3591:2D22:DADB:C459 (August 2023; started editing the article shortly after the account above was blocked for socking, same pattern of editing on mobile devices, same interest in mythology/occult religions articles as other socks of raxy)
  • 2600:6C4A:717F:B637:348B:313C:B838:E42E (Jan 2024; same pattern of using "fixing"/"fixed" on edit summaries while removing content and editing on mobile)
  • 107.77.209.82 (Jan 2024; same pattern of using "fixing"/"fixed" on edit summaries and editing on mobile, same range as multiple IPs listed at this spi section)
  • Big Money Threepwood (Feb 2024; confirmed sock, same pattern of removing content from the article)

Raxy has a high degree of interest in this particular area of GENSEX and has been using autoconfirmed accounts to POV-push in this area for a long time, as seen at A person from nowhere, How I could just edit a wiki article and Underwoods Witch. He is an experienced sockpuppeteer and, judging by his reappearances in this article for the span of at least 8 months, he seems to have this page on his "watchlist", so I'm asking for an indefinite extended-protection. Badbluebus (talk) 17:24, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protected indefinitely. Daniel Case (talk) 03:37, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Loafiewa (talk) 21:46, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Reason: High level of IP vandalism. Javext (talk) 22:19, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP addresses continue to add unsourced content. CNMall41 (talk) 23:39, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Reason: High level of IP vandalism. Protection for the article talk page may be necessary since IPs have stated derogatory terms about editors who have reverted them.

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Rollback

I would like access to rollback for more efficiently combating vandalism. I have gained experience in patrolling RecentChanges. I also make sure to always warn (and welcome new users) after reverting their edits on their talk page. I declare that I have read through all the policies regarding vandalism. Bunnypranav (talk) 11:01, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

Not done I noticed you started actively reverting vandalism a few days ago. While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I'd like to see you spend more time gaining experience fighting vandalism before assigning you advanced permissions. Keep up the good work, and consider reapplying in a month. Also, please ensure that you are consistently warning editors when you revert their edits (I recommend using tools such as Twinkle or Ultraviolet which makes this extremely easy). Thanks, Fastily 07:36, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for the positive advice. In all of my reverts till now I have always left a warning without fail. Bunnypranav (talk) 07:57, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Autopatrolled

A good editor and content creator, they have created a total of 133 articles. One was deleted via G14 in 2022, and another was deleted via A3 back in 2014. Since then, they have created many BLPs and other topic articles, none of which have been deleted. I think they are good to go. GrabUp - Talk 16:44, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

Not done. I think it's been some ten years User:Hansmuller, since we interacted on nl:Lise Meitner. It's nice to see you here. I see you've been blocked indefinitely in the Dutch Wikipedia for various conflicts in Wikipedia space unrelated to article content, but this did not impact my decision.
I've checked ~10 creations and have noted & tagged one major issue (an uncited short para in a BLP), and a few minor ones (formatting, which I've corrected). You tend to WP:OVERCITE (having 4-5 citations after a paragraph, for instance in Sol de Carvalho), which makes it more difficult to connect sources to specific content. It might be better to put additional citations in a Further reading section if there is unused information in them. I'm also a bit concerned with the Car speed and energy consumption AfD, which resulted in a redirect. Created end of December, it shows essay and textbook tendencies which I don't expect in articles from autopatrolled editors.
Overall, feel free to nominate yourself when you've created another 8-12 clean articles, as we're not far from the threshold. —Femke 🐦 (talk) 14:08, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

GnocchiFan has made 5,000+ edits this year alone including seven Good Articles. They make extensive use of WMF Library to improve sourcing and prose. I believe they are both an excellent editor and also communicator, evident at sensitive article topics at 1984 anti-Sikh riots and Gender and sexual minorities in the Ottoman Empire. In short, let's reduce NPP backlog by giving them auto-patrolled status. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 12:11, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

Also worth mentioning GnocchiFan created 84 non redirect articles. One article was deleted Sophie Ottaway 8-months ago. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 12:25, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

has created 36 articles, of which over 60 percent (!) are B-class or higher. This was requested and (rightfully) turned down last year, but they have created many more articles and there's no need to patrol. Charlotte (Queen of Heartstalk) 05:17, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

 Done —Femke 🐦 (talk) 08:37, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

I would like to introduce another editor with a strong history of editing and article creation. They have created 2,114 articles, including 2 GAs. Their creations include BLPs, which are essential for obtaining the AP flag. Only one of their articles was deleted in 2023 via AfD, and others are G6. Since then, no articles have been deleted. I believe it would be beneficial to grant them this right to help reduce the NPP backlog. GrabUp - Talk 13:27, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

I found out after nominating that they had previously been granted AP by MusikAnimal, but it was later revoked in 2022 by Primefac due to copyright violations. I am not withdrawing the nomination, as it was two years ago, and the issue may have been resolved, so let’s see if they can be trusted now. GrabUp - Talk 13:42, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
