Good articles in Wikipedia

Currently, 39,845 [update] (about 1 in 171) articles are listed below as good articles (grade GA in the Wikipedia article grading scheme). They should all meet the good quality article stadards and have passed through the good article nomination process. In short, they should be well written, stable, accurate, and referenced, have a neutral point of view, and show relevant illustrations with an appropriate copyright. Good articles may not be as thorough and detailed as a featured article, and they may be unlikely to reach featured article standard soon due to a variety of reasons, but they should not omit any major facets of the topic (compare good articles v. featured articles here).

Currently, 6,527 of a total of 6,844,153 Wikipedia articles (about 1 in 1,040) are featured articles, which have been thoroughly reviewed and designated as the very best of Wikipedia. When a good articles is promoted to featured article status, it is removed from the list of good articles below.

The process for designating an article as a good article is simpler than designating one as a featured article. If you find or contribute to an article meeting the good article criteria, you can nominate it on the good article nominations page for an impartial reviewer to assess and, if it is accepted, it will be added to the list of good articles.

Articles are delisted that have become degraded and no longer meet the criteria. Anyone can delist an article by following the delisting instructions. If an article's nomination fails or it is delisted, an explanation and possible improvements should be suggested on its talk page by the reviewer. Disagreements can be resolved on the reassessment page, which WikiProject good articles helps to maintain.
