Need to get a life.

Revision as of 16:47, 18 December 2009

For those who need more eye candy

Meatpuppet?

Bouncehoper: What the crap is a meatpuppet?

Baegis: A marionette that subsists on a diet solely of meat and its derivatives.

Bouncehoper: ...How is that different than a sockpuppet? (also, makes me hungry....)

Baegis: Sockpuppets, of course, eat cotton products, which are severely lacking in nutrition and deliciousness.

Bouncehoper: How....strange....lol. thanks!

Badagnani RFC

Perhaps you can participate in it here? It seems that you clearly have a history of "rivalry" with Badagnani. Eugene2x►talk 23:46, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Objective

I'd be happy to know in what way you feel I'm not being objective. -GTBacchus(talk) 00:19, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For the record, I have no doubt of your good faith, nor have I suggested that you have failed to assume good faith in any other editor. I pretty much trust you on that count, implicitly. -GTBacchus(talk) 00:46, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good night

Thank you for correcting my rating for bacon in popular culture. I may have been slightly over-enthusiastic. It's fortunate that I can rely on the good judgement of my fellow editors to keep things in check if I mess up. Take care and have fun! ChildofMidnight (talk) 06:49, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is how Badagnani behaves

You are still following my edits[2][3], then you think you deserve to falsely accuse me of hounding you? Don't play a victim card. I want you to stop chasing my contribution to Korean cuisine. There are "many" native speakers of English who can fix my English per my request, so I don't need your special care as long as you demonize me and make bogus accusation. I've tried to assume good faith on you regardless of your various wrongdoing to me, but you are the one re-igniting the old animosity with your disruptive behaviors. When you attacked me with the racist attack on the admin's page and accused me of being stalking you for my good faith advice on OTRS images, you clarified your position against me. To be clear, the alleged stalking of mine was done right after you stalked to my newly created articles? So your hounding of me is okay to continue? To sum up, do not follow my edits any more. I'm done with you.--Caspian blue 00:48, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

Hi. I noticed your recent post at Badagnani's page, which he removed. You may have noticed that I'm working with Badagnani. I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve with a post like that... do you really think that telling someone to leave you alone on the internet will make them leave you alone? As part of this dispute resolution, do you think you could moderate your tone, or if that's not possible then please ask me when you're having a problem before you go to Badagnani's page with another angry post that doesn't accomplish anything, except perhaps that you feel satisfied making it.

Unfortunately, your satisfaction is not prioritized ahead of encyclopedia writing, and combativeness — regardless of who started it — never helps with encyclopedia writing. Combativeness is a really bad idea, and it hurts the project. If you respond to combativeness with more combativeness, then you've just doubled the problem. Rather than doing that learn to de-escalate. If you cannot or will not do that, then I strongly urge you to get my attention when you're experiencing trouble with Badagnani, and then let me handle the situation. Your reactions to him are part of the problem right now. Think hard about that. Thanks for understanding. -GTBacchus(talk) 01:26, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what Viriditas is up to, but I've left him a note. Your comments about my efforts at "education" show how little you understand of what I'm doing. Stay tuned though. The last two times you told me how wrong I was, you turned around and apologized later. I don't expect any more of that; I'm just sayin'. -GTBacchus(talk) 01:55, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Images and usefulness

In terms of this, I think the image can be removed altogether... there's not much value in a picture of a kid holding his head. Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 03:59, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh balls, there's drama behind this? I thought that was a silly image added in by some good-faith newcomer, had no idea there's an edit war behind this. I guess I'll join in the discussion (I was using an IP because life is too hectic to log in :P). Thanks for the speedy reply! Re: RfA BlueCaper Opposition

Hi, it's BlueCaper. I do not see why your opposition includes the "problems" of Harry J. Lincoln. Just because I created it does not mean the sole responsibility of the article should be on me. The page does not belong to me; it belongs to Wikipedia. It is everyone's job (not just mine) to make an article efficient.

But I am not here to rant and rave. Let me show you some gratitude for helping me and thousands of others make Wikipedia a better place.

Thank you.

Much ado

Hi I see you also had some trouble regarding User:Ironholds. I lost my temper with him earlier as I'm sick and tired of people criticising the articles I create. I really hate the overlook of some people on here it has to be said, I'm sure you feel exactly the same way in such discussions when you are branded all sorts of clearly untrue things. Sometimes we think "Why do we bother?" huh? And for the record your English is excellent, igore the tripe. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:43, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, how you doing? Actually I don't have any problem with Ironholds as long as he is not an admin. I noted that he is quiet uncivil to editors though. The fiasco was a conflict between my interpretation of his experimental RfA and (not objection) oppression by others to think me the way they think. I could not do that. I counted the experimental RfA as one of his failed trials because it taunted the RfA system and he should've done it on Editor's review, not on RFA page. But well, sometimes, when I oppose somebody, saying "per whose comment" is much easier to be here. Anyway, thank you for the kind words.--Caspian blue 19:21, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RFA thanks

My RFA passed today at 61/5/4. Thanks for participating in my RFA. I appreciate all the comments I received and will endeavor to justify the trust the WP community has placed in me. Have a nice day. :-) AdjustShift (talk) 21:31, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My Nom-Statements...

Hey there Caspian,

I know you and I have some philosophical differences on what makes a good nom... my philosophy is basically contained in this essay: How to nominate somebody for RfA. As your opinion at RfA has (surprisingly based upon our first interactions) become one that I am growning to respect... basically, my belief it that you highlight the weakness(es) of your candidate for three reasons:

  1. It shows that you did vet the candidate and despite finding a flaw (and there almost always is a flaw) you didn't deem the flaw substantial enough to overcome the good.
  2. It takes away from the potential damage if somebody is familiar with the flaw were to otherwise uncover it down the road. By raising it yourself, you undermine potential criticisms down the road.
  3. By revealing what *I* know to be the biggest flaw in the candidate, you might get others to accept the flaw as the worst case and not look deeper.

I have the same belief about politicians. A politician who admits his/her failings will, IMO, do better than the same politician if some reporter breaks the story. I also reveal the flaws because I once glossed over them... and I vowed never to nom somebody without being upfront with any weaknesses that I knew about. I did that once, and never again. If their track record is such that I can't look past their biggest flaw, then I won't nom them. If there is a reason that I think a flaw can be over looked (a single incident of bad judgment from half a year ago is such) I will do so and explain why I don't think it is an issue with the candidate in particular.---I'm Spartacus! NO! I'm Spartacus! 03:02, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the sincere answer. I'm gonna reply later --Caspian blue 22:55, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Forgot a fourth reason, suppose I nominate a candidate who clearly is unworthy, but I don't address the issue, it indicates that I was unaware of the problem. While I try to do my best to vet candidates, I cannot possibly know everything that has happened with said account. There have been a few cases where I was surprised one of my candidates said/did.---I'm Spartacus! NO! I'm Spartacus! 13:38, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just one thing to say before answering, I was under the impression that the candidate looks very like you. No offense intended, but both you and his statement address negative aspects first (it's like a very bitter chocolate)--Caspian blue 13:41, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's the Machiavellian in me... hit them hard with the negative then show why it isn't important and then show the positive ;-)---I'm Spartacus! NO! I'm Spartacus! 16:14, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Spinnspark reminded me of the fifth reason why I'm open about character flaws... people at RfA like to latch around an item that is negative about a candidate. When there is a surprise, people instantly start wondering, "What other surprises are we missing." By recognizing the flaws, people aren't wondering what they are missing. They get to say, "Hey I supported a person with these flaws before."---I'm Spartacus! NO! I'm Spartacus! 21:04, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But do you think that all voters READ given questions/answers or CHECK candidate's contribution history? I don't think so. Unless voters have previous interactions with candidates or have observed, in many cases, candidates could be new to them. Sometime, I'm too lazy to investigate or dig diffs, just decide by the nominators' statement/ and candidates' answers. The brief edit summary on RfA talk just gives a basic frame of their contributions which exclude quality of content building and candidates' attitude. And most candidates are regarded good enough to run for adminship (or at least one editors think so in case of self-nom), so I think the support part's flowery praises do actually not indicate how good candidates are to get the bit. And they often say "per nom". That' why the "first impression" provided by the nominator is I think very important.--Caspian blue 21:13, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Caspian Blue

I have read a number of articles about Korea and found that you've made quite a few contributions, and I am assuming that you are both Korean and possibly live in Korea.

I have made some discoveries about Korean cars that are only available in Korea, such as the Hyundai Equus, the Dynasty, the Grandeur, and the Centennial. I was wondering if you have a digital camera and might have an opportunity to take a few photos? Now that Hyundai has become a major player in the automotive world, I thought it would be nice to see older Hyundai's and other Korean cars that the rest of the world isn't aware of.

If you can't help with this request, do you know of anyone who might be able to help?

Thank you for your time, (Regushee (talk) 16:17, 10 April 2009 (UTC))[reply]

I glanced through the mentioned articles of Hyundai cars, but they have images. If you want better images, well, you can ask help to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Korea.--Caspian blue 19:47, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Korean Cuisine references

Hi Caspian,

I have been working on correcting the references in the Korean cuisine article and would like your help in completing them. I have separated the sources that are in Korean and would like you help in translating such things as article titles, authors and other information. This would be a great help as all I have is Google language tools, which is a non-contextual translator that leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks, Jeremy (blah blah) 18:31, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the notice.--Caspian blue 19:23, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I posted a question for you at Anonymous Dissident's RfB, but I forgot to let you know, which is not very polite. Sorry for that. Anyway, you'll find the question below your !vote. Hope you don't mind the question. If you do mind it, drop a response here or on my talk page - let's not clog up AD's RfB page. --Dweller (talk) 15:34, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User:Tenmei and Teeninvestor's ArbCom

ArbCom

I believed you once had a dispute with Tenmei, resulting in you filing this dispute: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/IncidentArchive471#User:Tenmei.27s_abusing_AfD_and_personal_attacks, Would you care to give more details at ArbCom?Teeninvestor (talk) 21:41, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just to tell you, I'm not on the side of the troll; in fact, I condemn him. By the way, I remember that sources do not have to display notability; they only need to display verifiablity.Teeninvestor (talk) 23:37, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, ArbCom won't save time, considering there was no problem to begin with; just Tenmei's obstinacy. ArbCom cases are lengthy and I'm not very happy being involved in all of that.Teeninvestor (talk) 22:17, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Note that the problem with the article is solved, and there wasn't any edit warring for a while????? And what do you mean that "this is not limited to this case?"Teeninvestor (talk) 22:23, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How would emailing you help???? Also, note how links have been provided to the source, as well as standard bibliographical information, which would make it verifiable, eh? That isn't exactly "controversial", or else the editors of said articles would have said so.Teeninvestor (talk) 22:26, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, there is a very similar RfAr case regarding "sourcing" and many other cases regarding nationalistic disputes (to be correct, didn't you edit war not only with him, but also Mongolian editors over the descriptions on the sovereignty during the ancient time?) I will tell you more if you take my advice.--Caspian blue 22:32, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The "edit war" with "Mongolian editors" was very strange. I was adding sections to the article, and they deleted it without explanation. Then they left. It was one of the strangest disputes I went through. i wouldn't say it was a nationalist dispute; they didn't even say why/what they were deleting it? Then Tenmei came in with his "rhetorical skills", and you know what that leads to. Oh ya, what's your email? I'm not too good with the emailUser feature. Teeninvestor (talk) 23:22, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I can't expose it on the public place. You need to go to Special:Preferences first and then fill in your address into Email section. Then scroll down page, you check the box, "Enable e-mail from other users" and save the change. Then, you will receive a message "you have to verify the address to use the function". Then open the message on your email account. Then your email sending/receiving are set up. After you finish the procedure, you either can tell me you're ready or look at the left side of the bar on my talk. There has "What links here and E-mail this user" and others. Then you can send me mail as well as others. --Caspian blue 23:32, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As for the deletion without rationale, I clearly saw their message. Didn't they say "We, great ancestors were never ruled by Han Chinese!" Didn't you really catch that? Well, the article was actually created by the banned user to convey this message too "Even though Mongolian can say that they ruled Han Chinese for some period time, Mongolians were also ruled by our Han Chinese." Those are clear nationalistic feuds--Caspian blue 23:43, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your advice, Caspian Blue! I was not aware of this feud. I just saw this article as an ARS member and wanted to improve it.Teeninvestor (talk) 21:19, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I've decided not to use the emailUser feature. I was spammed.Teeninvestor (talk) 14:44, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Did you set up the function? When???? Who gave you spam mails? Well, reconsider my suggestion though....--Caspian blue 14:47, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Block by Georgewilliamherbert and its background

  • Slightly related to the ArbCom case in which I did not be involved but did comment.
  1. (Background) Ever since I reported Tenmei (talk · contribs) to ANI for his personal attacks, he has been hounding me whenever I have a dispute with others even though those are totally irrelevant of him. After another horrible experience with him on Yonsei for his more attacks, he even wikistalked me to Tznkai talk page to harass me when it comes to matter between me and Roux (talk · contribs). When Inner Asia during the Tang Dynasty article was created by ㄏㄨㄤㄉㄧ (talk · contribs) who is a block evading banned user and also has been harassing me, I noticed the fact. On the other hand, Tenmei caused the similar degree of disruption to others. After Tenmei (talk · contribs) filed a RfAr case against Teeninvestor (talk · contribs), the case did seem to be rejected just like Tenmei's last year RfAr case against Admin Nick-D. I left a statement to WP:Requests for arbitration page and the case was accepted.
  2. Tenmei began to spread his curiosity over my intention of writing "favorable statement for him" to arbitrator Jayvdb (talk · contribs)[4] and clerk Tznkai (talk · contribs)[5]
  3. 2009-03-30T20:57:57 Tenmei even left a message about me to non-clerk and non-admin Roux (talk · contribs)[6] who has very bad histories with me for each other.
  4. 2009-03-31T03:30:59 Roux left a very nasty comment

About your information at ArbCom case

Hi, I noticed that you posted some information about a problem editor at [[11]].

Given the long-term problems that have been going on with the user in question, I believe that it is time that a WP:Long term abuse thread be started on this user, regardless of what his or her primary account might be (more than 100 socks have been recorded as of writing).

As you seem to know a lot about what this editor has been up to, I think you might be in a position to alert the Wikipedia community at large in relation to the said user.

I had originally intended to post evidence in the said ArbCom case that would demonstrate that many of the problems at the Inner Asia during the Tang Dynasty article have been repeated elsewhere due to the persistent addition of highly inappropriate material to a large number of pages that are not as frequently patrolled as "popular" articles are by the vandal and a failure to recognize long-term abuse. However, given the complex nature of the abuses and the danger of "feeding the troll", I have refrained from doing so.

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the "toxic" IPs (as another user described them) in question appeared to have posted veiled racist comments at a number of user talk pages. A notable example can be found here: [12]. In this case, I believe he was trying to denigrate a large number of other editors by engaging in pointless debate.

I am a little puzzled though as to why he or she made rude comments at User talk:Arilang1234, considering that the comments seem to go against the very ideas that the troll had been trying to push.

I had reported this user earlier to User:Ryulong on account of the fact that edits by IP accounts involving Nazi themes had been made this year, suggesting that the little known but highly disruptive User:RestoreTheEmpireSociety is still active; unfortunately no action was taken.

As suggested in various checkuser requests, this editor also appears to impersonate some other persona frequently in order to make fun of editors from certain ethnic backgrounds (particularly Arabs); I also suspect he or she edited Talk:Tang Dynasty under a username in order to mock Korean editors. I think you should check the user account out to see if the person behind it actually a serious editor or just an impersonator.

There is one thing that I am almost certain about: the editor involved is not the aptly named User:Nationalist (who also caused chaos across a large number of articles).

By the way, I wonder why the ArbCom case is titled "Tang Dynasty" even though it is really about "Inner Asia during..."? Alpha77a (talk) 12:12, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alpha77a, thank you for the alert and visit. You seem to be able to track down his history, so I don't think my submission would do better. You can consult the matter with checkuser, Nishkid64 who has routinely range-blocked underlying IPs used by the banned user. I've been harassed by the user ever since my ANI reports/RFCU on him, so I don't want to be increasing the chance for him to revenge me. And I have other things to be dealt with in my limited time for editing, but thank you for the visit any way.--Caspian blue 13:43, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm...

I think I might have to take up your offer in the near future. I do love East Asian ceramic wares, especially celadon. Plus, you are right, there is a lack of good quality Korean articles. I'll see what I can do, but I won't feel comfortable creating a new article unless I have gathered at least four good scholarly sources that I can cite. Cheers.--Pericles of AthensTalk 13:56, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocks, although often needed, have an unfortunate and horrible effect on anyone who is on the receiving end; the experience is not at all pleasant, and administrators and even arbitrators fail to truly comprehend the precise effect. I would not wish to compound the effect on anyone. I think we will still have disagreements even in the future, but hopefully, they can be resolved more amicably - if we can achieve that much, then that's certainly worth it. Thank you for the note, and apology accepted. :) Ncmvocalist (talk) 15:58, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Revert

Re this: sorry if what I was reverting was actually accurate. I'm not familiar with this period in history, I just noticed what appeared to be a major change that could have been motivated by nationalist POV-pushing and figured it should be reverted unless there was discussion. If you think the new wording is better, though, that's ok with me, since you know a lot more about it than I do. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 15:35, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I initially thought the UK anon could be Wondergirls' incarnation given the same old inserting of "cheerleading passages". However the anon's edit to Joseon Dynasty was at least fixing the problem caused by another anon's POV edit[13]. So you inadvertently reverted to problematic edit. That can happen.--Caspian blue 15:45, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Caspainblue, the intro is modelled after the Japan article, which is a featured article. I think it is important to mention the Seoul capital area so I think it's fine. If you have any other issues with my edit, please talk to me. Thanks. 86.138.60.93 (talk) 15:39, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
86.138.60.93, it is not necessary to mention Seoul in the first paragraph of the article, especially just mentioning something random like its size. Anyway, like I said, please continue this discussion at Talk:South Korea, and post the reason why you think your additions should be included, so that we have one centralized location to discuss this. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 15:42, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Caspian-- 오래간 만이에요. (I realize I was a bit of a horse's ass in our last encounter, but I hope you can understand my feelings on the situation too...) Thanks for translating the KMDb biography of Kang Dae-ha. I was working through it myself, but wasn't confident enough to post my translation yet. The only difference I had with your translation was with "찬가 / 讚歌". I thought that this was a type of poem-- like a hyangga... Anyway, thanks again for helping out with the article. Regards. Dreadful supporters

I thought you were talking about me. I guess I'm vain like that. V?... I do think those editors need to leave the other editor alone. It's one thing to have a difference of opinion, but to follow an editor around and to keep going after them is pretty bad form. There are enough articles that need work without that kind of drama. Anyway, I hope you're having fun. I took a picture of a jellyfish dish this past weekend. Probably it isn't needed, but it's the thought that counts! My future

Caspian, when I was briefly in Seoul there were birds used to pick fortunes, a lot of veggie soups in stoneware or earthenware bowls, and some kind of sea slug that didn't look tasty to me. Do these things have a particular name or names? Thanks. ChildofMidnight (talk) 20:25, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your future is a mémoire of your past or Wiki's future that would have a new article? :-) Well, it is hard to tell. The bird used to pick fortunes seems like Korean magpie, but a soup made with the bird sounds eek. Well you can try to search through Commons:Category:Soups and stews of Korea.--Caspian blue 20:34, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, three different questions on three different things:
  • Name of fortune telling method using a bird to select the fortune?
  • Name for that type of cooking served in pottery bowls?
  • Sea slug, or was it sea cucumber?, name and name of dish or dishes that use it?
Thank you very much for telling my fortune though. There is an amusing discussion on the RfA discussion page about how there are no noms right now. I'd like to throw mine up now, but it's going to take some time to answer the questions and I've been doing other stuff and still need to internationalized steamed clams since you won't do it for me.  :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:03, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, that's good because I can not imagine the bird that people consider an auspicious messenger from the heaven could be a mere ingredient. That thinking is awful. Well, as for the question 1, I'm not sure. You need to give me more description or situation question 2, oh, you mean ttukbaegi (뚝배기) Commons:Category:Ttukbaegi[15]? 3. Haesam? Gaebul? Hoe (dish)? Well, could you say about where you saw these things? Do you start dating a Korean girl? (curious).--Caspian blue 23:16, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Are you going to add taehap chim/daehapp jjim to the steamed clams article? Here are a couple sources [16], [17]. Those commons photos look nice. There were so many of that type of dish. I found it very interesting. I think Seoul is the soup capital of the world. Korean food is very interesting to me. So many pickled dishes too. As far as the sea cucumbers I just remember seeing them at street stands and I was in awe that people would eat them. Then I wandered near the president's house, I think, and got escorted away by secret police. :) The bird is used to pick out from a bunch of slips of paper or tiles or something with fortunes on them. It was interesting except I couldnt' read my fortune. I think I saved it somewhere... ChildofMidnight (talk) 03:31, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Casp. Thank you for your support. Please don't get caught up in any of the nastiness. There are many more opposes to come. I'm a big boy and I can handle it. The examples are interesting to me because as with the sources for Michael Jackson being a "businessman" and the Tina Turner opening paragraph, I still think the other editors are mistaken. But we learn from our mistakes and I could have been more tactful in dealing with the WP:OWN and other issues. ;) Anyway, please don't worry or feel that you have to defend me. My bad jokes are getting me in a lot of trouble, but my sense of humor is a strong defense. I've made mistakes, so many of the concerns are legitimate. Cheers. I am researching on Wiki. Cound you help me?

Dear Caspian blue,

I am a student in Seoul National University in Korea doing a research project on Wikipedia. I am very impressed about your insight. Reading your page, I see you are truly concerned about a variety of issues, and I appreciate your contributions. So I thought you could provide some opinions really worthwhile. So, would it be possible for you to take some time off and give an online interview via E-mail or online messenger? It would provide my project a lively voice of an actual editor, and this will be of a great meaning; your experience, concerns, opinions and ideas would add a lot to my project. Actually I'm in real need of something concrete; for my project is about the mechanism a biased version of explanation is settled, and as you will probably guess, understanding such things involves a lot more than just watching explicit process. Again, I would really, really appreciate your help.

It will not take that long; in fact everything will depend completely upon your will. If you are willing to give some help, would you mind mailing me within April? Thanks a lot.

Sincerely, Bongeun bongeun319@hanmail.net

Thank you for caring. Yeah, ironically, the strong provocation made me finally get out of my long hesitance and decided to give my evidence. If he would not be poking on me, and not go to George, I might've remained silent except commenting a few to the Workshop. However, I don't know why I have to be afraid of his forthcoming harassment (sigh).--Caspian blue 23:00, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
From my experience with this editor it's well worth keeping an eye on his recent contributions (and keeping records of any relevant diffs). As well as canvassing distruptive editors against me at the same time that he was claiming willingness to enter into good-faith mediation, I found that he was also going through my old posts on talk pages and cherry-picking sections which he thought would be useful and saving them in his user space. He also sometimes revises his old posts if they attract criticism or get proven wrong (by removing/changing text rather than striking it out) and has fiddled with other editors' posts. Nick-D (talk) 23:25, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the concern. Ah.....yeas, when he hugely reduced his evidences (of course including attacks against me), he tries to focus to demonstrate how constructive he has been...The statement is the shortest one of his wording that I've seen so far.-_- However, well his attacks yesterday just reveal his color. Can you add your above statement to your evidence section? Thanks.--Caspian blue 23:34, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid that I don't have any diffs for that handy and as it isn't an issue in the RfA I don't think that it would be worthwhile digging them up. Nick-D (talk) 08:06, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, it seems it was a "noble gambit" from Tenmei's part. I seriously think ArBCom should place sanctions against this guy; at least a topic ban on asia should be in order. By the way, when are the arbitrators going to look at this? I can just imagine when the look on their faces when they first see our diffs on Tenmei, and then his TLDR comments.Teeninvestor (talk) 00:17, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking of which, when are you going to finish your comment?Teeninvestor (talk) 00:22, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen him pledge so many times to improve his communicate skills and incivility issues. He has asked a favor to admins or editors in good standing or "his friends" in both bad and good standing for mentorship or seeking for opinions on his attitude whenever his edit or comments are heavily criticized by editors. So I don't buy his "another sudden" vague penitence. If he thinks he really feels sorry, he should've apologized to the offended people. He has never did except one pretentious gambit; he offended me more with the insulting passage like "Tenmei apologizes Caspina blue for the comment; you're offensive." Then everybody at the ANI who already were tired of Tenmei's unintelligible and lengthy rambling just said "why don't we just wrap up?" So ANI report on him just makes the reporter's reputation ruined. He has gotten out of repeated incivility and personal attack accusations in the name of excuse for his "lack of communication skills" and "let's believe his good faith", or long-winged text attacks, blah, blah...
Once his habit of harassment and wikistalking are repeated regardless of many warnings, which are beyond AGF, and are his fixed character. I've been fooled by AGF on him. You see what I have gotten through. You need to carefully read Nick-D's observation written above. My first encounter with him is just a "prelude to endless nightmare", and I really don't want to recall another AfD experience and consequence discussions (mainly filled with his trollings) with him. That is beyond disaster. He has met very generous admins so far. As for the supposed time for me to finish my statement, well, writing something against someone is not my type of things and makes me very exhausted and gloomy. But I have to do...
ArbCom cases usually take within one month or one and a half month. So be patient for a little while. There are "many mega hit ArbCom cases", so it might be delayed or finished early. --Caspian blue 00:51, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I hope ArbCom gets this case done fast, and the solutions in quickly. Teeninvestor (talk) 20:25, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, "the two involved editors from your side" have not presented their evidence. If you want to end it faster, they have to reappear soon. None of arbtrators do even comment to the case once. So I guess, you have to wait about 2 weeks.--Caspian blue 20:30, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because this is the English Wikipedia, editors should use English-language sources in preference to sources in other languages, assuming the availability of an English-language source of equal quality, so that readers can easily verify that the source has been used correctly. Where editors translate a direct quote, they should quote the relevant portion of the original text in a footnote or in the article. Translations published by reliable sources are preferred over translations made by Wikipedia editors.

(bolding mine).

I think this bit of info just proved Tenmei shot himself in the foot. Also, it seems they do not want to be involved in the case(though an uninvolved editor has expressed interest). It seems Tenmei included them for no reason.Teeninvestor (talk) 20:43, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, they're actually not involved editors. But in his sense, I have to be an involved editor so that he can "punish me". They heavily criticized Tenmei, so he seems to think that he can "fix" their "wrong" notion by including them as a party. I guess, I have to trim down my statement and more diffs. At that time of writing the "harassment section", I was so pissed off at Tenmei's another attempt to harass me.--Caspian blue 20:54, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've made a start, but have a few questions. I'll have a word with the Arbs to see if they want the Extended Content to stay or be shifted elsewhere. There are far worse ones (one recent case clocked 750k+++), but we will keep an eye on the case to keep it at a manageable level. - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 20:47, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Never ask a question you don't know the answer to; I feel that the latest question should be rephrased a bit, as in "why did you go to arbCom even when everyone else was against it".Teeninvestor (talk) 01:41, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for correcting my grammar. However, I'm very curious about the matter. --Caspian blue 01:43, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bringing the Mongol editors into the case would only cause this case to be expanded, most likely to Tenmei's delight as he gets more ammo to use against me and you.Teeninvestor (talk) 21:30, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, at this point, even if Tenmei requests a motion for them to be a party, everything is too late, and I don't think they are gonna participate in the ArbCom Case. Because once Tenmei crafted the dispute unnecessarily gigantic, they seemed to be tired of the issue. In a sense, they're smart enough not to waste their time on the matter.--Caspian blue 00:02, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Breakfast ‎(second course)
What's the name of the Korean movie where the popcorn pops at the end? The one where Americans are portrayed as warmongering tourblemakers (as usual). Is it any good? I saw the epic Korean War one. It was pretty good. ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:56, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm... movie? The Host (film)? I don't know because there are so many movies with such theme. In Hollywood movies, Americans are portrayed as "heroes" or some cheesy slogans can be found like "we save the world" cliche. I don't see any sort of "XYZ-Man" movies whose characters wear rubber suits, so I don't know. But I can tell you what you ate for your Hors d'œuvre, that is "ojing-eo sukhoe", a variety of hoe (dish), (raw or lightly parboiled dishes). The sauce seems to be chogochujang, mixture of gochujang (Korean chili pepper paste), vinegar, and sugar, and sesame seeds. --Caspian blue 19:13, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kim jin-kyu

I'm just letting you know that I removed over 300 wikilinks on Kim Jin-kyu because most of the blue links were linking to irrelevant pages and I imagine the red ones are unlikely to go blue anytime soon. I would recommend not restoring them until new articles are created because even some of the statistically improbable titles like The Heart is a Lonely Hunter have other meanings. The links that go to the correct films are still intact. --- Best wishes, Soap Talk/Contributions 22:25, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

나비

나비 (na-bi) is the character’s name in There she is!! (Korean: 떳다 그녀!!). 나비 in Korean means butterfly in English, use any dictionary. The Linux software Nabi uses a butterfly on their logo. Cat in Korean is 고양이 (go-yang-i). 납이 (nab-i) or 납 (nab) is the Korean word for lead (plumbum). What evidence do you have that 나비 is used for Cat? --Bejnar (talk) 21:02, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Evidence for cat

For some weird reason I can't not directly response to Bejnar's protest. So I make a new section in response to him/her.

http://kordic.nate.com/dicsearch/view.html?i=6668600
This Korean dictionary page will clear your doubt. Regards. (Tokki 토끼 means "rabbit" in Korean, just for your information[19])--Caspian blue 21:13, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So what you are saying is that a secondary meaning, or idiom, of 나비 (butterfly) is when it is used as a diminutive for a cat, just as 고양이 (cat) is used as a diminutive for 말 (horse). I will make the correction. --Bejnar (talk) 21:31, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • 나비 has five different meanings
  1. butterfly
  2. cat
  3. width
  4. a dialect referring to silkworm
  5. a dialect referring to 'next'

Those have nothing to do with horse. I'm not sure what you're talking about.--Caspian blue 21:38, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Read the definition at http://kordic.nate.com/dicsearch/view.html?i=6668600. --Bejnar (talk) 04:35, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You've been uncivil without reason and the link is what I gave you. What relation does 나비 have with "horse"?--Caspian blue 04:49, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
말 (short) means horse but 말 (long) means speech/word. --Kjoonlee 23:50, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So there's no relation between cat and horse. The catch is just that a typical speaker of Standard South Korean as spoken in Seoul will pronounce horse and word identically. --Kjoonlee 23:54, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Clifton's Cafeteria

Nice find on the photo. Are there any problems using historical images from online sources if I set proper non-free image use? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 20:01, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm...Durova knows better of image-related copyright than I do. I think that could be a problem even if you set them as non-free image use. You may better contact the manager of the cafeteria and get a permission, and then forward the email to OTRS. Anyway, good job on the new article. :)--Caspian blue 20:10, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Except for the curent pictures of the current cafeteria, these no longer exist: Clifton's Pacific Seas exterior, Clifton's Pacific Seas interior, Clifton's Brookdale exterior 1938, Clifton's exterior todayClifton's brookdale interior, Clifton'a Silver Spoon exterior, Clifton's The Greenery exterior, Clifton'e The Greenery interior. I'm going to do some reseacrh on historical useages of such. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 20:37, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Found "historically significant fair use image", which may apply for the older images. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 20:45, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe, but I'm not sure. Anyway, we have images of the current Clifton's Cafeteria.--Caspian blue 20:51, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I do like the second pic you found for Clifton's exterior to be much better. I called Clifton's several times trying to talk to management, but after being always put on hold for 15 minutes and imagining my long distance bill climbing I cut my losses there. I suppose its indicative of how busy they may be. However, next time I am in downtown LA I will personally visit the branch, take a few photos, and approach them about gaining access and specific permision for use of historical images of earlier facilities. Thanks much for helping out! Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 20:49, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Inquiry for ITN

It appears that nobody has yet begun today's section. Did he die today or yesterday? I'm sure there is no harm in nominating him under the 22nd (which it probably still is in the US). The future events section is probably more for things like elections and spaceflights but (having originally created it and not been informed of why items should be removed) I am puzzled as to why something would be removed from it for no reason. It was probably removed from P:CE because it is a death and they expect you to put those at Deaths in 2009 (those IPs don't seem to leave edit summaries, I too find this annoying and confusing at times). However, if it is to be a death debate it should be OK to nominate it at WP:ITN/C under the 22nd. --candlewicke 02:59, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers and happy editing.--kelapstick (talk) 19:00, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was skimming DYK and came across your work on the Voight article. I noted that it is close to the needed expansion to go through (which would be great). I was thinking an obvious area to expand is actually the lead. It is currently one para, and doesn't mention the weight/ loss controversy at all. I think the lead would be better as around three paras rather than the current one. Normally i would jump in and just do it myself, but I know nothing of the topic and you seem to be busy doing a great job, so I just thought I'd make the suggestion here. I hope you don't feel I'm just making work for another editor (ie. you!) :-) If you want to ping me at my talk page and ask me to do it, that's fine, but i may not get to it for about 48 hrs. cheers. hamiltonstone (talk) 00:10, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Within 2 days, I have to insert 2000 characters for the DYK anyway and that task has been a very demanding/challenging job for me (I usually edit/expand articles up to 4500 something within 5 days), so honestly, I'm very exhausted. • All editors on Macedonia-related articles are directed to get the advice of neutral parties via means such as outside opinions and Geopolitical ethnic and religious conflicts noticeboard (WP:ECCN), especially since there are significant problems in reaching consensus.
  • All articles related to Macedonia (defined as any article that could be reasonably construed as being related to Macedonia, Macedonia nationalism, Greece related articles that mention Macedonia, and other articles in which how Macedonia will be referred to is an issue) fall under 1RR whenever the dispute over naming is concerned. Editors enforcing a case where a binding Stalemate resolution has been found are exempt from 1RR.

  • Future Perfect at Sunrise (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) is strongly admonished for displaying a long pattern of incivil, rude, offensive, and insulting behavior towards other editors and failure to address the community's concerns in this regard. Because of this Future Perfect at Sunrise is subject to an editing restriction for one year, and is desysopped for three months as a consequence of poor user conduct and misuse of administrative tools. After three months, his administrator access will be automatically restored.
  • Single-purpose accounts are strongly advised to edit in accordance with WP:SPA and other Wikipedia policies. Diversifying one's topics of interest is also encouraged.
  • Abuse filter 119, as currently configured, logs all changes involving the word "Macedonia" but does not block any edits. The community is strongly advised to consider adding a new abuse filter criterion; any instances of changing the word "Macedonia" to "FYROM" (the five-letter acronym, not the full phrase) shall be prevented.
  • Within seven days of the closure of this case, a discussion is to be opened to consider the preferred current and historical names for the four entities known as Macedonia. The discussion will end one month after it is opened.

Thank you for your insights and suggestions! I want to 'catch you up' the concerns raised. My DYK comment and response:

"Thank you both for your insights and consideration! I've reworked the hook slightly and ask your opinion. Caspian, the issues you mention have been rectified in the "Master Cat" article (thank you for solving the snarl with the title!) and I do agree with you that the two articles need some consideration. There is not much to merge into "The Master Cat, or Puss in Boots" from "Puss in Boots (fairy tale)" as much of the latter article is unsourced and has an OR tang, especially in the analysis section. I suggest a "Variants" or a "Cat as Helper" section in "The Master Cat" article examining the topic from well respected folklorists and retaining only the "adaptations" that are supremely notable such as Tchaikovsky's ballet and the Faerie Tale production. Perrault's Puss in Boots has inspired legion upon legion of "adaptations" over the centuries and it is impractical in my opinion to list every single one of them no matter how insignificant they are in the greater scheme of things in "The Master Cat" article without giving the topic "adaptations" undue weight. Alternatively, ALL adaptations could be listed in a stand alone article called "Puss in Boots adaptations". What do you think of my proposal? Caspain, I'm so sorry you preceive me as using "accusatory tone" with Matisse. Nothing of the sort was intended. I was simply stating a 'right to the point' fact. Kathyrncelestewright (talk) 22:15, 14 June 2009 (UTC)"

Articles about singers

Hi. I saw that you are looking for articles to use as a model for bios about opera singers. You might want to check out bios from WP:G&S: Valerie Masterson, Richard Suart, Kenneth Sandford, Gillian Knight, Ellen Beach Yaw, Rutland Barrington and Jessie Bond. Best regards, -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:58, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, also, for an even better bios about a musical theatre singer, see Elaine Paige (FA class). Also see Sarah Brightman and Bernadette Peters. All the best, -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:01, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message. Best of luck with your project. Let me know if you have any questions that I might be able to answer. Best wishes, -- Ssilvers (talk) 01:18, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Peace offering

Olive Branch of Peace
I come here offering an olive branch in the hopes of coming to some sort of peace with you. I know we have had major disagreements in the past, and I would like to work together with you to sort those out so we can work cooperatively on whatever articles we may work on together in the future. For any rudeness or misinterpretation of your postings on my part in the past, I sincerely apologize. Perhaps that may not be enough, but I do honestly want to work well with you here on Wikipedia, so I'd like to form a peace with you. I think we do have the same goals in mind for Wikipedia: to make it an excellent, free, detailed, and neutral encyclopedia. I admire a lot of the work you have done to improve things (and you really have done a lot), and I hope we can work together in a spirit of mutual respect in the future. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 20:50, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Korean cuisine GAN

Actually, it really does meet the standards of GA. I believe it would need more if it were to be a FAC. --Jeremy (blah blah) 20:52, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I want to congratulate you on the good job you have been doing on getting the Korean cuisine article up to par. Please keep it up, I would love to see this former battle ground made into the poster child for good collaboration. We've come along ways since we first met, and I am glad for that. --Jeremy (blah blahI did it!) 23:35, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to take a closer look at your comment about my perhaps setting the demands for passing GA too far. You'll hear more from me in December.

Macedonia request for comment

Since you have in the past taken part in related discussions, this comes as a notification that the Centralized discussion page set up to decide on a comprehensive naming convention about Macedonia-related naming practices is now inviting comments on a number of competing proposals from the community. Please register your opinions on the RfC subpages 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Fut.Perf. 08:00, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

With regard to your endorsement of the main article naming, I wondered if you were aware of the requirement in WP:NPOV#Article naming that things should be termed by "the common English language name as found in verifiable reliable sources"? "Republic of Macedonia" is neither the common English language name nor is it (by a very long way) the predominant term in reliable sources, the vast majority of which use simply "Macedonia" (per [21]). It would be helpful if you could consider this point, and if you continue to favour the option you supported, if you could explain why you believe NPOV should be set aside in this instance. -- ChrisO (talk) 18:18, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think the proposal B meets NPOV perfectly, and could reduce "dramas" in the muddy situation. The title is also one of the naming disputes, but if you ask how we style the republic within Greek or Macedonian related articles, I'd favor "Macedonia(n)" over "Republic of Macedonia(n)" or FYROM (people)". I've compared this naming dispute with "China" and "Ireland", and I'm not convinced that Macedonia is far prevalent than the ancient kingdom and region in English speaking world.--Caspian blue 18:29, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately this isn't a situation where we can get rid of the "dramas", simply because the hardline nationalists reject both "Macedonia" and "Republic of Macedonia" (see e.g. [22], just a short time ago). Proposal B has the disadvantage of being a full formal name - which contradicts NPOV's requirement to use the common name - and Future Perfect at Sunrise and myself have done a lot of work to establish the usage of the term "Macedonia" in a wide range of general sources. The wider region is actually not very well covered at all in general sources. The ancient kingdom does get wide coverage, but only in specific subject domains - principally history and archaeology. We found that the vast majority of references to "Macedonia" were in fact to the country, which was invariably called simply "Macedonia". Future Perfect put forward proposal A on the basis of that research. Note that China and Ireland are outliers - the way they are treated is different from the way that we treat 99% of the world's other states. The idea behind proposal A is simply to treat Macedonia the same way that we treat nearly every other country, based on the requirements of NPOV. -- ChrisO (talk) 18:44, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm..I appreciate your all effort for the naming dispute, but as far as I've known Future Perfect has tried to "resolve the dispute" with reliable sources, not "to establish the usage of the term "Macedonia" in a wide range of general sources". That gives an odd impression to me.--Caspian blue 22:28, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Inugami-bargho. Thank you for creating the useful and interesting article to Wikipedia. However, I'm not sure why you're so agitated by my simple tagging.[23] I think the sentence The population of wild living domestic dogs in Australia is now probably higher than ever before. is vague because the intro does not reveal when the research was conducted, and "ever before" is also not clear. I think "as for March 2009" or "According to a 2009 research" would be fine if you can add. And everyone could not know the intro is already referenced by existing sources. The tags are only for clarification, so I hope you're a bit more familiar with these. I love reading the article by the way, so keep up the good work. --Caspian blue 04:58, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was just a bit hot headed that's all because I had to deal a little bit to often with people who want a reference nearly for every sentence although the whole chapter is practically based on the same source, that is all. I know that the statement is vague but that's what Managing the impacts of dingoes and other wild dogs said. Saidly when it comes to the dingoes or better wild living domestic dogs most data is quite blurred. Saidly that's also true for the dogs living with humans. Strange really, there is more research on wolves than on dogs. Even more saidly there are also more myths about domestic dogs than about wolves.--Inugami-bargho (talk) 16:39, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm..thanks. I know exactly why he is doing that on "Korean articles" due to his conflicts with a non-Korean editor working on Korean and traditional Korean music. So I rather would like to spend my time adding references and using the external links that he falsely labels as "spams". He did not take my compromise suggestion and opinions:)--Caspian blue 15:00, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Caspian. I took the article off my watchlist after blowing up over the "notability" tag last night. Tagging Insadong for "Notability" is absurd-- if you don't know the place, you can easily search any source on Seoul. And if you haven't done that, you don't have any business putting the tag up. I didn't want to work on the article at the prodding of an editor like that. But since you've asked, I'll see what I can do. (Insadong is one of my favorite places in Seoul, and one of the places I always visit whenever I'm there.) Cheers! Dekkappai (talk) 17:05, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite, but I've lived here a very long time and am fluent in Korean.

I've been doing some edits on the Roh Moo-hyun, KCTU, and US beef imports in South Korea articles, which have raised the ire of the local activist community.

Jayzames (talk) 05:11, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting, it is very rare to find non-Koreans who are fluent in Korean both inside and outside Korea. Even though those topics are out of my usual interests, I edited the articles a couple of times just for housekeeping. As I edit some articles, they are automatically listed on my watchlist, and the name calling associated with Samsung came up on several articles, so I went to AIV. Are any chance you working for Samsung or Hanara Party as your "fan" accused? (the former could be possible since that is a Chaebul in Korea. :-) I do now know what political position you might have, so I felt the odd at your first message. You seem to know me pretty well.....--Caspian blue 05:56, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, I'm American, and have voted Democrat (NOT the Korean party) ever since I turned 18. I don't really like any party or any politician in Korea enough to endorse one. I did indeed work for Samsung at one time (and liked it when I was there), but do not now work for them or any other jaebeol.

It is typical for Korea's left-wing Internet activists to resort to conspiracy theories and dismiss any dissenters as someone who works for the GNP. I don't really take it seriously and I was more amused than offended by the remarks.

Jayzames (talk) 06:19, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, right wings are also many if you stick here longer to observe the current flow, so Wikipedia can fly higher with their big wings. :) I thought you could be a Korean-American due to your ability to read Korean but a different approach to solve problems at glance.--Caspian blue

For your information

Perhaps I got really agitated by your allegation and I didn't set the right tone when I replied you a moment ago but let me just ask you a question here... did you actually read and checked through the whole thing before you jump to conclusion and accuse me of templating that Sock tag on AO's user page (which is an accusation in its own right)? Edit history doesn't lie, you can check it to verify my claim that an ADMIN (specifically speaking it was User:Stifle) was the one responsible for placing that tag in the very first place, and not me as what you had thought. BTW, I've chosen to disengage from this episode after consulting with another uninvolved admin, so I'd really appreciate if you would review it properly instead of going there to rekindle that spark. --Dave1185 (talk) 21:59, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dave. I noticed in your edit history that a lot of edits are marked with an m indicating they are minor. I've seen in previous discussions that this sometimes happens when someone has their settings off. You might want to look into fixing it, because really only minor edits such as spelling or formatting fixes that are inherently non-controversial should be marked as minor. Cheers. Insadong: In & Sa

Hi, Caspian. What do you think of this sentence in the article: "Insadong was originally two towns, "In" and "Sa", divided by a stream which ran along Insadong's current main street." I'm not a native speaker, of course, but it doesn't "sound" right to me... "In" and "Sa" don't sound like Korean place names to me, and also I know that the syllable "sa" has a bit of a taboo similar to the Japanese "shi". If buildings skip the 4th floor to avoid sounding like "death", I can't imagine naming a whole neighborhood with the syme syllable that means "death"... Although there is "Shikoku" in Japan too, so I don't know... I wrote the sentence based on THIS: "Five hundred years back, this was a sloping residential area for high-court officials, actually two towns with names ending "In" and "Sa," split by a stream that would eventually form the path of the main street." - Wall Street Journal. (I can't access the full article through the link, but if you search "Decision to Stop Building in Insadong" in Google News, that link provides the complete article.) Anyway, that's a long-winded way of asking: Do Korean sources confirm this? Dekkappai (talk) 16:18, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AH HA! I answered my own question-- I mis-read the original sentence. I'll fix it now. Nevermind :) Dekkappai (talk) 16:20, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Has enough content been added for recreation? All of it seems very notable to me. ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:50, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ah...Midnight, may I ask who created the article? That looks a complete joke WP:OR. As soon as I set my eyes on the introduction of the article, I just could not help to burst into a big laughter. Viking vs Korean warrior.....bacon vs beikon.... Why I am reminded of a online game set.... I think you should either keep it in your user space as a souvenir, or delete it and grill bacon for your healthy supper! Caspian blue 00:05, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, perhaps you're right. Once an editor took out the agreement on double taxation the article really started going downhill. Have you seen the bacon emoticon that Law designed? It's very catchy. And it also has applications in new math and Ancient Greek. ChildofMidnight (talk) 00:53, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps, you mean the omega mark with two waving symbols? Cool! (but that can look like somebody bending his back while backfiring...:p )--Caspian blue 01:01, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it could be ironic. What is the bit about bacan and peikon? Is that legitimate? Because it might need to be fine tuned since it's now in article space. ChildofMidnight (talk) 01:46, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah..CoM..That is of course, not a legitimate comparison because that is original research. The article, in my opinion, should've not been moved to the article space.--Caspian blue 12:50, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kirill Lokshin

See Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Advisory Council on Project Development. Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 21:38, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the pointer, but when the announcement on the new council, I read it and have a sketchy grasp of many people negatively responding to it. However, I don't think he should resign for the charge. His intention is in good faith to improve Wikipedia, so I still stand by my position.--Caspian blue 21:50, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that he was acting in good faith, but I, for one, will vote against every person who voted for this, when they come up for re-election. Nobody asked Kirill to resign, that I've seen. Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 21:54, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We can confirm we have a different view on the case. The "every person who voted for this" means by the arbitrators who endorsed the formation of the new council, I guess? This suggestion to improve the community that fails to gain "consensus" is not comparable with the former admin, FT's shadowy conducts, or Sam Blacketer's COI with sockpuppetry (how the latter still have "admin tools" by the way). Krill should not resign in my opinion.--Caspian blue 22:05, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I'm concerned, and obviously this is just my opinion, it shows an appalling lack of good judgement and a total misreading of the community. Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 06:17, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that is your opinion.--Caspian blue 20:29, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Insadong

Updated DYK query On July 15, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Insadong, which you recently nominated. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. (ecX2) You know, Spam is considered something of an exotic delicacy in Korea. According to my friends, when President Johnson visited the country, the Koreans gave him "Bude-jjigae" (hot, spicy Korean soup with Spam in it) as "American food". And actually, though I'm no fan of spam, bude-jjigae isn't bad :) There's also a Korean variant of fried spam, done in a tempura-like batter... Dekkappai (talk) 20:24, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Trying to end the dispute at Joseon Dynasty

Caspian,

If you're interested in getting drawn into an old problem page.... I've made an attempt to end the age-old edit war at Joseon Dynasty, with a suggestion 'here. I'm hoping this suggestion will draw some constructive comments instead of more drama and back-and-forth; if you know anything about this topic, your input would be welcome. Thanks, rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 04:02, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Rjanag, thank you for the message. However, I'm too easily getting burned out during summer, so I've been avoiding getting into editing any articles that need a lot of research and discussion. If the dispute is not going to end sooner or later, well, I will chime in there.--Caspian blue 12:54, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much for the photo. WOuld you be willing to add it to the DYK nom for July 20? The last time I tried to add a photo I almost broke Wikipedia. SPEECH!!! SPEECH!!! ChildofMidnight (talk) 04:59, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Korean Culture Question ^^

First one is regarding my Korean penpal, here. I'm trying to learn conversational language, too. Is it a cultural taboo to call him on the telephone? What are the rules of being pen pals from the Korean vantage point?

Secondly, I love to cook! What is a Korean dish that allows a lot of "chef freedom" for the chef to significantly change the dish? I do not mess with "authentic dishes" that upset people when you don't follow the ingredients exactly. (for example, I made Cuban sandwiches for my friend who is Cuban and I put lettuce and tomato on the dish!) I have looked at the Korean barbecue page and also the Korean cuisine page, as well as searched youtube. I think I can create any of the dishes I've seen; but, I want to know the cultural rules of what dishes afford a lot of creative freedom in the dish and will allow me to infuse the dish with artistic expression. Thanks in advance, for being so helpful! 윤리윤리윤리 (talk) 01:21, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is good for you to have a penpal (email?) friend to get to know Korean culture. If your friend agrees to talk with you on the phone and his speaking English is good enough to communicate with you, why wouldn't be a cultural taboo? However, well, if the person lives in Korea, well, you can use Skype (though I never use it before), so you would not need to worry about the international phone bill charges. As for the food, I edit Korean cuisine articles a lot, but rarely cook for myself in the real life, so I don't know what to recommend to you. Grilling meat does not require hard cooking skills if you do not expect "superb tastes", so why don't you try to have samgyeopsal? ^^ --Caspian blue 19:23, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Or you can try to make Jeon (dish), Korean pancakes. You can chop or slice off any vegetable or mix together, and than pan-fry the ingredient on a pan with vegetable oil. As long as the batter consistency is good, you would have a nice dish.--Caspian blue 19:36, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's good advice. Skype is a lot simpler. I was browsing your user page and was amazed that you have worked on those two articles I have read on Korean food! What a great interest. I listen to Wonder Girls and try to browse some Korean art. I already love the Hangul. I actually picked Korea over the other countries I was considering because the writing system is almost instinctive for me. I like how the characters describe your mouth/jaw/tongue shape to produce the sound. I thought to myself--how thoughtful and helpful is that! I'll come back with my next question in a week. I want to do some culture research myself and get your feedback if I am on the right track to self-learning. Thanks so much; and, I'm so glad to have bumped into you so early in my Wikipedia career! 안녕히 가세요, ttyl, thanks again, 윤리윤리윤리 (talk) 02:51, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

outing

thanks for commenting on that. Only so you know, I was hoping to get quick acknowledgement from the editor and word they wouldn't do it again so I could swiftly unblock. However, I think it was muddled by the nationalist squabbling among all of those editors, whom I thought could be dealt with one by one. Sometimes in trying things, they don't spin up the way we want. Cheers, Gwen Gale (talk) 11:44, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for stopping by. Well, with the blocking, you were invited to join one of the muddiest zones of English Wikipedia....since they are all famous for a tendentious Eastern Europe ArbCom case. Even if you would have changed the block setting to some period of time, none would be against you since his harassment is harassment that should be stopped. However the complainer is not innocent either...as far as I've known by their frequent ANI/AN3/AE activities.--Caspian blue 15:03, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note

FYI, I wouldn't consider myself uninvolved with User:Badagnani given my discussion at Category talk:Polish-language surnames and the like regarding the issues of surnames by country, which was part of his dispute (not that that would stop a lot of admins from acting). Either way, it's all calmed down a bit now. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 22:08, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Big root

Oh and it's very nice here by the beach. I thought you should know. What kind of ice cream is good there? Do you go for the international brands or some kind of red bean variety? Shave ice? Is there some other cold treat I should know about? ChildofMidnight (talk) 05:01, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As for the "big root", did you mean your observation of Koreans eating a big root while you were on trip to Seoul some years ago? Well, some (especially middle aged men) people eat it as a drink for some stamina...
Well, I drank up 12 cans of sikhye, Korean rice punch today, that is really refreshing and palatable. You can find it in any Korean market. I'm heavily replying on naengmyeon (buckwheat noodles in cold clean soup). Although I'm a big fan of Häagen-Dazs, I love patbingsu. The Korean franchise, Red Mango has a shop in LA, so you might try some frozen yoghurt bingsu there. And I'm no mood to edit articles other than uploading images until the hot weather is calming down. I want to visit the place where the Snow Queen would live, but if you want to join me you should be very careful since "the Troll" in the fairy tale could produce a mirror that distorts and freeze anything. :)--Caspian blue 05:41, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Didn't we have a very long discussion about what the very long root I saw was? I think that's it.
I like Red Mango, but there isn't one nearby. But I discovered on here that Cefiore is part of the Todai (restaurant) buffet empire. I like their yogurt. I always liked Haagen Dazs coffee ice cream and coffee shakes. I was ahead of my time, before all this frappacino craziness came about. I'm off to investigate the other desserts you've offered up. Poor Badagnani is blocked. Not a good outcome at all. But I'm happy so see you guys are close friends now. ChildofMidnight (talk) 06:09, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the definition of "friendship" on Wikipedia may differ from mine. He and I have many up-and-downs, but I consider him a colleague whose his general contribution is much more beneficial to the community than those who only tag minor things with automatic tools or harass and accuse people who disagree with their own forceful interpretation of the policy. I did not defend his problematic behavior, but defend "his valid right to defend himself" in the absurd community (and they are involved people) decision. I still think that complainers should be equally judged by ArbCom. I wish he stand firm and defend himself in more calm ways. If I were him, I would have revealed several malicious sockpuppetry cases to harass him not only on English Wikipedia, but also on Commons to ANI. Then, he would have gotten a valid sympathy that he deserves.--Caspian blue 17:58, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if any of my comments weren't helpful (like the one about "blow"). That whole attack on me was so ridiculous it reminded me of the good old days... and I couldn't restrain myself from engaging in some silliness. Anyway, I hope you're doing well and staying cool. I notice that Arbcom seems to be rendering some timely decisions so maybe they are becoming more efficient? I think they should delegate more decisions back to the community with appropriate direction (that's how our Supreme Court works over here) instead of trying to solve everything with sweeping decisions that take months to determine. But they seem to be getting the hang of it now. Once they've addressed the worst of the hellish demons we can have a more relaxing time and a collegial editing environment even among peeps who disagree. :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 03:23, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your guess was right. I was riled up not only for the absurd ANI matter to harass you again and others - yesterday, I received a most disgusting offwiki message in my whole life that the sender certainly would later feel shame of himself for his slurs. If he would not redeem himself, I would more be worried about the person's close people. Pity. I will not forgive such viciousness. Anyway, just the yesterday's ANI case was well.......think like a badge of great attentions to you after the ArbCom. If so, you can have more leeway. :)--Caspian blue 03:48, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ANI comments to Roux

Comments like this "You don't in my observation. Your personal attacks to me speak for themselves. Roux, I really want you to refrain from perpetuating such the typical behaviors to people. You should face that your proposals are not always welcome to people. Instead of personal attacks, you need to focus on the topic. Will you?" ( [25] ) were unnecessarily provocative to Roux.

Please don't poke people like that. The proposals unreasonability was evident to many users - engaging with Roux and getting angry with him didn't help. You crossed the line into being uncivil back and that did not help the situation.

Please be more careful in the future. If the issue is clear to everyone, and I think this was, everyone will see that and others who are not in conflict with that user can respond without escalating.

Thank you. Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 01:40, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the notice and effort to tide down the dispute. I will heed your advice. However, one thing you miss is that Roux's proposal at this point is really unhelpful and he attacked me first. Roux called me many unacceptable names and made unfound accusations as he always did to me (like sockpupetry accusation the other day). If that is my only evaluation on his gross incivility, he would not be reported to WP:WQA "two times" in the recent months. The reports are by two individual admins in good standing whom I highly respect. I wonder why he is not sanctioned for such typical behaviors, so he continues doing so. It is obvious that he and I have a different language and interpretation on incivility and development for Wikipedia, so I've avoided contacting him, but the issue at this time is about several editor's Wiki-career (quite many). Banning all editors who once edited the disputed article in the 90 days? That is a very dangerous idea against the spirit of Wikipedia - Here is a collaborative place that encourage for peaceful cooperation rather than such the punitive wholesome topic-banning without much consideration. Even though he is angry with my valid criticism, that is his job that he should face and acknowledge that his ban proposal is not always welcome. And as for the other day, he was blocked, though not by you, but by other admin. I wish he should stick to WP:CIVILITY and No personal attack. I would of course try to be not provoked by his behavior that I'm well aware. I appreciate your effort anyway. Thanks--Caspian blue 02:07, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Caspian. I've recently set up a new translation project. I haven't started a Korean one yet because I'm sure you said something abotu Korean wikipedia not being very good. The idea of the project is to identify missing articles primarily and then start them if the information is up to scratch and they can be supported by reliable references. Would you be interested in such a project and drawing up lists of missing articles? If so I'd galdy create one for Korean translations. Note the project can also be used as a way to store missing articles in general so if you know of a bank of missing articles from a reliable site etc these can be red linked too. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:44, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Blofeld, I think the idea is a very good one since Wikipedia misses many important subjects on Korea, the project could be useful. --Caspian blue 15:30, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kumdo

Thank you for your revert on kumdo done by User:Globalmartialart. Nanominori (talk) 13:39, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if the editor revers without reason nor any attempt to discuss, then the user would be in trouble soon like AN3. --Caspian blue 13:43, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Although it may be rude to impose such question, what can I do to prevent User:Globalmartialart from reverting articles to his POV/unsourced edits on kumdo? I have continuously reverting and adding references to unreferenced ones with NPOV for the last week, but User:Globalmartialart keeps undoing NPOV+referenced edits. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nanominori (talkcontribs) 13:56, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Then your options would be several things. 1) Request for comments on the issue so that other people could comment on it and gauge the consensus. If he/she is persistently against the consensus then -> taking to ANI 2) File a WP:MED or seek WP:3O if the dispute gets serious but with the assumption that the opponent would give some opinion on the talk, if not that would be useless 3) Or you can report him/her to WP:ANI for the chronicle POV pushing and disruption.--Caspian blue 14:04, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Question

Hiya, indeed, feels like a very long time. Thanks for your consideration (and question) - I hope my answer will make sense. A conflict/dispute cannot exist without at least 2 parties; when only 1 party is available, the conflict/dispute is no longer a conflict/dispute. So if a party is blocked, or prevented from editing in the area of conflict, such a dispute becomes resolved. This is even if the block is for something unrelated - but in such cases, it can mean that the resolution is temporary. Of course, there are exceptions, such as if there are unjustified sanctions, or if two parties are formed by more than 2 editors.
In this case, I've marked it as resolved for the marked reason. However, as the block is short and unrelated (meaning that the resolution may be temporary), and as the etiquette conclusion (re: Taivo) hasn't been written in yet, I haven't put archive tags to close that WQA completely. In any case, I do agree that the current conclusion should specify that the edit-war was a separate matter - will fix that now. Does that help clarify for you? Ncmvocalist (talk) 14:31, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A ref improve tag says unsourced material can be challenged or removed. It doesn't say it can be challenged or removed after a set period of time. I removed specifically the regional variations section only as I thought that would likely be the kind of section that lends itself to OR and edit-warring. If you want to put it back, fine with me, but yes, I saw it from ANI and no, I don't generally care to edit further than that. It really doesn't matter to me since it's clear that tag can be there for quite a while with no real effect. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 04:12, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll admit that I'm no expert in Korean history, but I did bring the article on the Joseon-era official and traveler Choe Bu up to Featured status. That was a fun article. I have trouble finding good articles on Korean history; some can be found on JSTOR. Congratulations for your graduation! You might've been very busy these days. Well, I thought you would pursue academic career, so I thought you would go to a graduate school. You clearly have a talent in writing especially on historical subjects, so you can be a professional writer or academic. Anyway whatever you choose for your career, I believe that would be a best choice for you. As for the Choe Bu article, yes, that is one of a few FA articles in the Korean project. You did the good job, so I look forward to seeing you creating other fun history articles. :) --Caspian blue 23:28, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you kindly for adding the photo! It's lovely. It's interesting because it seems to be both a cocktail hat, and quite literally a hat made from a rooster's tale, ie. a cock tail hat. Does a cocktail (sauce) hat count [26]? This one is really my style [27]! (but copyrighted) :) Have fun. ChildofMidnight (talk) 20:17, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I love "word play" even though I would not catch if the meaning is not obvious. In Korea, squid is used as a mask when a bridegroom's friends go to the bride's house carrying with presents for her before the wedding ceremony happen. They have to bear the smell for a while....Well, I did not know that you have a such fondness of luxurious items! Well I love women in fur though. :) --Caspian blue 20:38, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh. I thought you meant you were attracted to women with hairy armpits. My mistake. But it's all good. Hi. I wondered if you could create a new article like Architecture of Mumbai for Seoul? Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:52, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I really want to but my hands are all tied up to Gyeongju, one of a few Korean FA articles, that faces a delist, so I could not be of help for the potential article right now. I'm actually planning to ask your help to expand the article of Gyeongju to meet the current FA standard and to proofread the article since I'm desperately needing native English speakers' help and eyes. If I had to make an article of architecture of some city in South Korea, that would be Architecture of Gyeongju or Architecture of Andong. For the latter, I'm actually drawn to expand the article of Andong because I've found a file of very good images of Andong, a home of renown Confucian scholars and academies during the Joseon Dynasty. However, until I finish the task of Gyeongju, I have no choice. If you're interested in seeing some rural images of Korea, here is the one. OK. Seriously about yesterday, the whole drama started by my trying to help the Palestinian project. I spent hours working hard at improving the articles and then to read that forum demeaning me and my big efforts to help her really hit me hard that's all. What I don't like is when people are quick to judge you or what you say without trying to see to from my persepctive. That forum is a personal attack on me in the worst possible form inviting people to cut wounds into me. I had just spent a lot of time speaking to her and her friends to try to improve things so when she went and did that I thought "screw it" and called her a beeatch. Completely normal reaction, we all have stinking things happen to us in RL from time to time and has nobody ever cursed or shouted at somebody? There are double standards on wikipedia, I don't care if somebody says something on site or on a related site I won;t be spoken to like that. As it is that link enticing people to attack me as the cause of her departure (yes because I created some new articles) is permitted yet I can't call somebody a bitch without having the ANI brigade gunning down on me. Have you seen this movie?

Hi CB, I'm wondering if you've seen this movie Last Present? An editor had written that the main character was battling cancer, but in the version I watched with English subtitles there was never a mention of the diseases name. I also checked the summary on the RS and its referred to only as a "terminal illness". I'm wondering if you've seen the film and since you're korean if the disease is mentioned by name in the Korean audio.--Crossmr (talk) 05:24, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I tried to find any source that confirms the claim, but could not. I have not seen the movie yet because the theme is depressing. Therefore, I can not confirm whether the female character is dying for cancer. One thing interesting is that no review or newspaper say she has a cancer, but the screenwriter wrote the scenario based on his experience with his mother who suffered a cancer. In many Korean dramas, a (mainly female) character suffering an incurable decease or terminal decease is romantically depicted. Weirdly, some people believe that specifying the decease does not fit to melodrama, so I guess the movie is also in the same category. The article could have the screenwriter's story, but if in the plot, asserting that the character dies of cancer could be original research. I don't know you can read Korean, but well these are from newspaper, movie magazine site, and encyclopedia. [31][32][33].--Caspian blue 19:35, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes those depressing movies can be quite good. Sad Movie is one of my favorites! In the movie the female lead's mother also has died but the subtitles refer to it again as an "illness". I can read Korean, just very slowly, so I'll go through those links, thanks. it sounds like it was unnamed for that reason. In the movie the the husband is seen reading a book about diseases, but the subtitles translate the title of it only as "women's diseases", so it seems to just be a general book on female illness and not a specific disease.--Crossmr (talk) 22:03, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You mean Sad Movie? I thought it is a comedy movie. I like some of sad movies, but I prefer tranquil, costume movies or comedy movies like Someone Special (film) (I can easily empathize the male character's feeling). Anyway, it is good to know that you can read Korean. Knowing a foreign language is an opportunity to closely experience the culture.--Caspian blue 01:41, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Someone special is on my list of movies to watch. I don't think most people would think Sad Movie is a comedy, though there are a couple funny moments in it. I've also been in Korea for the last 15 months so I've been experiencing lots ;)--Crossmr (talk) 07:20, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:"National Treasure" and just "Treasure" are different.

I understand that there is a difference between National Treasure and just Treasure, but I frequently encounter discrepancies among references (that I can read) as to the true status of a subject. For instance, at Geumsansa all the physical signs present in front of the building or pagoda etc. at the temple indicate that all of those treasures listed in the Geumsansa article are National Treasures. Fortunately you are willing and able to identify and correct these discrepancies. I regret that my lack of ability to discern with sufficient accuracy the true status of an object causes extra effort on your part to make corrections.Steve46814 (talk) 06:22, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I understand the difficulty. The sites managed by the government sometime provide inaccurate transliteration or Romanization and do not clearly distinguish the difference between "National Treasures" and "Treasure", both of which are essentially "national treasures". So double-checking the information with Korean sources are required. However, without you, the article would have been stuck as a stub, so please do not feel discouraged with this. Your contribution is really valuable and I just corrected a tiny thing. I will comment more about this issue later.--Caspian blue 13:01, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hwaeomsa article

Greetings Caspian blue! No, I am not Korean. Just a plain old Canadian who has been living in Korea since 2002. The answer to your other questions is yes, I do hope to bring the Hwaeomsa article up to FA level. However, it is still in rough shape right now, as you can see, since I am not really working on it in any systematic way. It will take many more months since I am still tracking some out of print books and other articles on the subject. Then there is also the trick of translating a number of terms (and a bloody poem) that have no ready English equivalents. Thanks for the recognition, it is tough slogging. Waygugin (talk) 08:00, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't going to start work on translating them until much later when the article was nearing completion but if you want to tackle that problem, it would be much appreciated :) 12:44, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Geumsansa

Hello! Your submission of Geumsansa at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Allen3 talk 00:30, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have made some subtle changes to the Geumsansa article which I hope will address the concerns expressed. If this is not satisfactory to meet the criteria then I'm not sure what more to do. Your suggestions would be welcomed. Also, I don't know how to report that these changes have been made so I'm informing you, even though I understand it is not your responsibility to follow up. Thanks. Steve46814 (talk) 00:52, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have spent quite a bit of time working on revising this article. I attempted to use the "detecting software" on the sections I've completed (changed) and also tried the URL of the article as well. I consistently get a messages indicating no problems were found, but I also get a small popup window reporting an error. I don't think I can rely on this, the way it is working for me. I will continue to work on the article. Have to take a break for awhile now.Steve46814 (talk) 00:17, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm.. you just need to "copy-and-paste" contents into the field of the detective program. may of other similar software requires to register (that is quite bordering), so I did not recommend them. If the page shows "no problem", there is no problem, then you are successfully done on paraphrasing. I think you need a break with a cup of tea. Keep up the good work!Caspian blue 00:22, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Update-Have completed going through the treasures sections. Still can not get the "detecting software" to take my input without the error. I tried copy and paste and using the URL option using two different browsers - no luck. The results show no trouble found but I just can't trust it because of the popup error. It is very early in the morning here and I'll have to quit for now (I'm married ;) ). I'll try to look at the history section tomorrow (later today). No mention was made of problems in this section so I have no idea how much work is required here. Steve46814 (talk) 06:03, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, well done. Hmmm. as for the page error, well I don't know how to solve the problem. Mine worked fine. I will let you know other similar software later. As for the history section, don't worry about it. I already paraphraised the section, it just needs "proofreading for fixing my grammatical errors". Since I think the initial problem has been rectified, I will let the reviewers know of this. Thanks!--Caspian blue 12:08, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have just completed making a few very minor changes in the History section. You should probably check my changes to be sure I have not significantly changed the meaning of anything and that you are comfortable with them. Two questions: 1) a date in the text "(r. 600–641)" - what is the purpose or function of the "r." associated with that date? 2) shouldn't the dates be expressed as BCE (or B.C.E) and CE (C.E.) instead of BC and AD? We have both methods used within the article and I think we should be consistent, what do you think, please? Steve46814 (talk) 19:03, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The proofreading is worked smoothly not to change any meaning. Thanks. As for the styling of date, I have no preference either ways. "r." means "reigned". --Caspian blue 12:11, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Some final thoughts: At this juncture I still consider myself very much a novice and still learning. As I'm sure you know, it can very difficult to find reliable information on Korean subjects documented in English on all but the most well known subjects. I, therefore, need to rely on a couple of resources like printed travel guides and internet search results etc. When I did internet searches for this subject I turned up half a dozen or so resources that all pretty much read the same way - even identical. Since none of the resources I found had any indication of copy write notices and mirrored each verbatim, I perceived no issues in reusing using this information. On the surface, paraphrasing seems innocuous enough, but I feel that potentially subtle changes to a phrase or sentence can cause nuances significant enough to alter the accuracy of the text and intent of the author of the reference. And being aware of the "no original thought" policy, I reused some text verbatim. So, let me finish this up by apologizing to you. Regretfully, I put you in an awkward position when you nominated this article. For this I am truly sorry. I will strive to do much better with my next effort.Steve46814 (talk) 22:00, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry too much. Even I'm still learning about many existent Wiki policies such as WP:ALT (if you are aiming for WP:Good article, reading the guideline is necessary, and I've acknowledge it after my participation in WP:FAR). After all, you nicely paraphrased the article with the time and efforts, and I also enjoyed reading and editing the article. As for the sources, yes, I know the problem, and most of them comes from the government site, but that is current situation that you can not do more about. So please chin up. Cheers.--Caspian blue 22:10, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, the cow-patterned one is the one who's still here ("The panda" is sitting a couple of feet from me as I type). The black one's the one that's missing (there's still a picture of him on WP at File:Bolt_thecat.jpg. Grutness...wha? 06:22, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Editor's Help

Hello I am in the process of trying to get asianmediawiki.com removed from the MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist and have been asked to get an editor from the film project to make such a request for the process to be approved. Could you look at our page http://asianmediawiki.com/Geun-seok_Jang page and the wikipedia page Jang Geun-suk and http://asianmediawiki.com/Hye-seon_Ku and wikipedia's Koo Hye Sun and see if it could not provide some help? I can also list many more pages if needed. Thanks -- --RamenLover (talk) 11:12, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm.. the site indeed does not look reliable. It looks like a fan site. Moreover, the concern is beyond my interests, so I think you would better find suitable editors working on such topics.--Caspian blue 12:05, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Civility Award
In a recent RfA discussion, you made a point about civility (in the face of opposition) that I really agreed with. Apparently this award is not for warning about the importance of civility. That said, after looking over your contributions, it looks like you deserve it anyway. Best, IronGargoyle (talk) 19:03, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Geumsansa

Updated DYK query On September 15, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Geumsansa, which you recently nominated. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Image sizes

Hi, Caspian Blue. Sorry I took a while to get back to you, I took the GRE the other day and couldn't spare a lot of time away from studying :) I don't know that the guidelines have changed (mainly because I don't pay that much attention to them), but I do recall in another recent FAC in which I participated (as a reviewer), another reviewer requested that one of the maps be forced to a large size (something like 500-600px), so I guess it's not odd that someone did the same at your FAC. My thoughts on the matter are: if someone wants to see a picture in greater detail, click on it. They're given the "thumb" parameter for a reason, right? Parsecboy (talk) 13:21, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks :) I already got my scores for the 2nd and 3rd sections, and I did pretty well on those; the essay writing section has to be graded by hand, and that'll take a couple weeks. Good luck with the Gyeongju FAR! It looks like a pretty good article. Parsecboy (talk) 13:34, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Joseon Tongsinsa

Hi, you might be busy, but I am also very busy these days. However, this is serious, so I really need help. As User:Tenmei edits Korea-Japan history articles, Joseon Tongsinsa, Taejo of Joseon and Korean diplomats, he ignores Korean naming conventions and names, and removed contents. He also inserted unrelated or trivia and very old outdated sources to articles. So please join the discussion of Joseon Tongsinsa and Taejo of Joseon. Thank you.--Historiographer (talk) 13:52, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm..so what do you want me to do? --Caspian blue 22:12, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Caspian Blue, I read the past discussion on Joseon Tongsinsa, and you participated in past discussion with Tenmei. But why are you so quiet even I asked you last time? Many Korean articles are incorrectly named and important materials before Japanese invasions of Korea were arbitrarily deleted. Only people of North Korea are named in RR. But Tenmei ignores Korean name convention. I'm very busy, but the articles are corrected. I don't know why everyone is quiet. Please join the discussion.Historiographer (talk) 13:41, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Because the reason is very simple - Although I'm well aware of all the problems you've brought here, I do not want any more nightmare and wasting of my time and energy. I just want peace. I do also care about my heath.(my gastric ulcer was caused by some heavy stresses from some vicious long-term harassment and personal attacks) I will answer more later though.--Caspian blue 15:43, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • After checking on the talk pages, and contributions and unsubstantiated accusations on the talk page, it is too obvious that some intervention by others is strongly required. The split articles are in mess and the person in question unilaterally excises and makes articles for his POV and inserts some unreliable and POV source (where non-scholar or any users can edit) as if he read the original sources through. Unfortunately, there are only handful of active editors, most of which are more interested in South Korean pop culture. I think this is a wake-up call.

To sum up, Tenmei has been under WP:ArbCom probation after his disruption and long-term harassment against users including me were pointed out, so one of his ArbCom probation is to have assigned mentor(s) as well as his 6 month topic ban to some Chinese-Mongolian article.[34] Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Joseon_tongsinsa, you already read this AFD, and this is a beginning of the long nightmare. I've tried to avoid editing articles that he edits although those "Korea"-related articles are my common editing articles such as history, Buddhism, culture, Korean terms etc. The Korean source that I inserted was completely deleted by him and he attacked me with very vicious languages on the talk page even though I have been absent of editing or participating in the discussion of Joseon Tongsinsa. He broke his ban in regard to commenting about me, so a block would have been warranted if I had requested for enforcement against his violation. If you have problems with Tenmei, the assigned mentor (I don't know who s/he is because it is not announced yet. That is very odd) is supposed to be assisting you (or anyone conflicting with Tenmei) and Tenmei. I think this matter should get more attention from ArbCom since they are lazy at handling Tenmei's same occurring behaviors. I'd like to say that you have to ignore him, but well... the articles are in total mess. Thank you for bringing up to my attention.--Caspian blue 19:38, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pedestrians

What do you think of this [35]? Seems a little steep, but otherwise I like the concept. ChildofMidnight (talk) 20:52, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It the plan chosen for "a Korean city"? Then, I would like to say the people who chose the design would face criticism in the near future. That seemingly looks nice, but the design does not look like "Korean style" but Japanese architecture and also bonsai is not part of Korean (traditional) culture. There are two cities of Gwangju in South Korea, and if the plan is for this Gwangju city, I'd say, that is more than a terrible idea since the city is known for (at least to Koreans) democratic activism against the dictatorship in the early 1980s, and also known for Gwangju Biennale. However, for what would the bridge serve? --Caspian blue 21:43, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm putting you down as a "weak support" for the project. ChildofMidnight (talk) 16:40, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Humor is always one of your greatest strength. :-) Caspian blue 16:44, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I found out that the designed bride is a part of city development of Gwangju. A Korean source says how coldly Gwangju residents think of the plan. That say the unified and unattractive bridges are a waste of their tax[36]....Caspian blue 16:58, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. From what I could gather, unfortunately google translate doesn't seem to handle Korean very well, people objected to the cost, the artiness and emphatic sculptural qualities of the bridges, and had other priorities. Are those images of bridges ones that have already been constructed there? I thought they were quite striking and fun. I think the issue of stylistic associations with bonsai and Japanese design is interesting. Those are the types of cultural misunderstandings that often trip up these cross-cultural endeavors. I think if I were from that city I would want striking designs, but from Korean architects if possible or at least in partnership with Korean firms, although the idea of an international competition to choose designs in pretty in vogue and does seem exciting to me. Certainly more Korean involvement in the planning of West 8's designs might have led to some aesthetic modification that could have made the designs more palatable. Thanks for the link and your response. ChildofMidnight (talk) 17:34, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A disclaimer, Every time, I learn new things. This Korean encyclopedia says Bunjae (equivalent to Japanese bonsai) has been a long Korean tradition, but I did not know it until now. However, the bridge design does not look like Korean style.--Caspian blue 19:48, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Caring for potted evergreens on those bridges is an issue, but perhaps neighborhood associations would be willing to do that? In the link you provided there are a bunch of bridge images. Are those ones that have already been built as part of a series of competitions in that city or what? I like the idea of pedestrian paths. ChildofMidnight (talk) 19:54, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The photos on the article show already installed bridges in the city, and those are only part of the city project, and about 12 bridges are planned to be built with a budge of 3,200,000,000 South Korean won (2,652,959 US dollar). The images in the link that you gave me look like they are not built yet.--Caspian blue 19:59, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

102 lurkers of my user page

According to this useful tool, my talk page has been marked as one of watchlist of 102 people.[37] This incredible number is almost double of that of several admins's watchlist lurkers. Admins are supposed to be expecting a lot of visitors due to their admin roles. However, my popularity seems even almost compete the number of a recently closed and very heated ArbCom case (which I had nothing to do with, but this is just for a mere comparison). I'm wondering who they are. As many see, this page has a handful of regular visitors, not "unexpected random" visitors. I hope they're not "spooky" wikistalkers of me. :-) --Caspian blue 21:13, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article on Bossam (food) says it is wrapped in a leaf vegetable. But in all the pictures the pork looks unwrapped. What gives? Also, that article and Ssam are almost identical. Should they be merged? The photo for the ssam article seems useless, and yet there is a gallery at Bossam. Who is in charge of Korean cuisine articles??? ChildofMidnight (talk) 17:42, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm.. good point, they are essentially same food, but bossam has to have steamed pork with vegetables. Ssam is a parent category encompassing every ssam dishes. I would expand the article later.--Caspian blue 18:12, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Translation

Hi Caspian,

I was wondering if you could help me with a couple of Buddhist terms I am having trouble translating precisely from this passage:

역시 신라 말의 고승 선각대사 형미(형미, 逈微: 864~917년)도 19세에 관단(官壇)에서 계를 받았고 통진대사 경보는 출가 뒤 공부를 계속하다 18세에 이곳 계단 (戒壇)에서 구족계를 받았다

I have read up on them in the Korean dictionary but I am uncertain of what to call them in English, any ideas?

PS: If there is anything I can ever do to help you, just ask! Waygugin (talk) 01:36, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Waygugin, I forgot to introduce very good Korean encyclopedias such as http://100.nate.com/ The Nate portal site provides not only high-quality Encyclopedic contents from Encyclopedia of Korean Culture (한국민족문화대백과) and Korean version of Encyclopedia Britannica (브리태니커 백과) but also English-Korean and Hanja dictionaries. The According to them[38][39][40] 구족계 (具足戒) refer to Upasaṃpadā, and 계 (戒) means Śīla or disciplines and morals that monks should keep in mind.[41][42][43]. Fortunately, wikipedia already has the articles, so that would be good for your understanding (me too, Buddhist terms are difficult to understand...). I hope this help for your article.--Caspian blue 11:34, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Nate seems way better on this than Naver. Waygugin (talk) 13:30, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you're still editing with this account I thought you might be interested in this article I just created. It got a pretty good review and seems kind of interesting. I think it's in German. ChildofMidnight (talk) 01:54, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As for the article that has only one sentence, I will try to help you if I can find reliable sources. However, I do not appreciate your joke related to User:Law/User:The undertow's sockpuppetry and all the drama with it. I'm not the type capable of swallowing such jokes.--Caspian blue 02:32, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My bad jokes are difficult to swallow and not especially funny, but I find them entertaining. My comment was related to my suggestion that you create a new account as User:Santa Helper or User:Bacon Bit than the present controversies, but I understand your reluctance to get caught up in the undertow. I almost drowned in one once.
The movie is supposed to be pretty good. I saw a review of it and jotted the title down, but I don't know what I did with the article. Apparently there are some interesting wedding traditions involved and the filmmaker is talented (he has his own article and caregory). ChildofMidnight (talk) 03:44, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It is good that you have a sense of humor, but I do not like any joke related to sockpuppetry or somebody's blatant wrongdoing. Your good faith joke could be lost in online conversation or construed differently to people from other cultures. So I want you to respect my stance so would I for yours. I searched sources, but well only three brief news came up from Gnews, so the film may not pass our notability criteria "yet".--Caspian blue 04:00, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you were given an indefinite block or a ban what would you do if your appeals were unsucessful even after weeks or months? I will try to expand the article. It's a new movie so the coverage will grow. I think it's U.S. release is October 12, but it's playing at various festivals and such too. It will probably win awards also. We are all very interested in Korean wedding practices... ChildofMidnight (talk) 04:14, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We're in online relationship, so I really don't know you so do you. I can not change who you're and you also can't. However, "respectful disagreement" is what we try to do here. All I have said to you is that the sockpupptry is egregious and I do not like to hear about sockpuppetry jokes. I would ask the question to you instead. It is understandable for your sympathy toward your friend, the Law meme. My initial sympathy toward him was due to sketchy interactions with him via you However, his ban for 9 month is quite legitimate given his legal threat to a peer admin and WP:OUTing him via making a WP:POINTy BLP article on the admin, and his insistence with White supremacy disruptions. He did not take any punishment at all by creating the sock as soon as his first request was rejected. There are option for him - walking away from "English Wikipedia", and contributing to other Wiki Projects such as Simple English, Commons, other language Wikipedias if he can speak foreign languages. The during the time, he could've built his lost credibility. That's what some banned users have done for their successful unban. So don't even tell "what if you were". What I can not stand from the incident is the "current admins" who nominated him for his RFA do not feel ashamed of what they did to the community. Whenever some "reformed" admins who have interesting histories of POV pushing and vandalism with lengthy block logs in the past, accuse somebody in dispute with them of disrupting the Wikipedia with their block log, I'm reminded of his/her past '...hmm.you're blocked 7 times, so the number even surpasses the editor's record in question, but you're saying like a saint, what a hypocrite' Do you think that the corrupt admins get the same trust that they used to get from the community? Please do not talk about sockpuppetry joke any more. --Caspian blue 04:48, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the great improvements. Since I started the article I get to take all the credit! I meant to ask you if there was an article on the tradition or traditions, but I think you added one as a see also? I'll have to check it out. :) Auf wiedersehn. Let's continue this here, not germaine to the other page

Continuing from your last comment. And I will continue to, whatever my powers may be after this is done, protect you and anyone else from harassment. I am not attempting to excuse my role in this, it was an error in judgement on my part. However, did Law/Undertow harrass anyone? The thing about justice is, it is nuanced. All cases are unique in their own accord. Yes, Law should not have been put up for adminship. Yes, he should not have socked in the first place. Yes, my part in this is inexcusable, given my knowledge of the situation.
However, if we can step outside of this current case for a second, it is simply not useful, fair, or wise to state that every case must be handled identically. That person A is socking and harrassing another user with hundreds of sockpuppet accounts, and that person B creates a single sock and is a productive editor with it are really not the same issue. To say that all infractions must be dealt with identical responses ignores the fact the infractions themselves are not identical.
Again, this is not to state that I am somehow justified in my support of Law because he was a productive user under both accounts, and a good admin under both accounts. I honestly believe both of those statements to be true. However, he did violate WP:SOCK, and I played a part in that (I should also note that there are dozens who played a part in that, but that does not excuse me or indict them.), and for that I accept your disappointment and apall, as well as arbcom's sanctions. However, please do not try to equate what Law/undertow did with the sort of harassment the person who bothers you was. That is unfair assessment of the two situations. --Jayron32 04:02, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I sympathize him a little, however, one of the long block reasons to The undertow was baiting a peer admin which is a form of harassment. I don't know whether The undertow was a good admin given the record, and some good editor seemed to leave the project for content disputes (white pride, supremacy, black pride etc) with him. He and the mentioned sockpuppeters are essentially "block evading unauthorized sock". You lost the community's trust by "aiding" the block evading sock and you said you do not feel any regret for your action. None thinks that persistent sockpuppeters would be reborn as a constructive editor, while The undertow could've had a change to rebuild his credibility, but you did not guide him to a right way. So honestly, I'm more disappointed at you and his friends than Law in the whole mess. Your good standing as an admin would not be the same as you used to have. There are some precedents that blocked/banned "former" admins/editors who had relatively been good contributers but caused big controversies (like Betacommand/ScienceApologiest) were unblocked/unbanned after their time were served with good contributions to other sister projects, or pleas on behalf of your friend. I'm not sure you even tried that given his only few contribution to Simple English, and Commons during his ban (but active as Law). The whole lying thing does make worse to him in the end. --Caspian blue 04:18, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Whoa!

Hey, I'm a bit taken aback ... you do know me and my work well enough, plus you know that I respect you and your own work well enough to know that my comment on that RfA was 150% humourous, and not sarcasm in the least. If you didn't know by knowing me alone, the extra small font and the emoticon would have made it even more clear. If I didn't believe that I could be jovial with you after all this time, I would not have tried ... (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 14:58, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what you know and have no direct interaction with you. My clumsy English has been criticized by many, so if you just would've not said last phrase, I would've thought of your comment as a "funny joke" due to the smiley. However, please do not think that everyone would be okay with that type of comments.--Caspian blue 15:14, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I would never presume to make that comment with people with whom I have not come into contact with in various locations in Wikipedia. Having seen that you do have a sense of humour in the past, I did believe that it was appropriately and accordingly funny. I have never personally criticized your spelling or grammar, nor have I, and I have absolutely no reason to have insulted you intentionally - I'm sorry if you took it any other way. Plus, if you noticed the edit summary (which is explained on my userpage), "+smac" = "add smart-assed comment". (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 16:23, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please understand that I'm not a native speaker, so I can not see what you or other people see on a same thing. I took offense not because of your comment about my typo, but because of the words, "schizophrenic" and "smac" at the edit summary; that is either insinuating that the candidate is as such or "me", but in the case, it was construed to "me" with the "smac" ("smack", could be meaning something to cause hallucination or "punch") Regretfully, your sense of humor is lost due to the words. If you retract your comment from the RFA, I would do mine since we misunderstood each other. Then, the thing would be okay for me, and hopefully for your as well.--Caspian blue 16:38, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I retracted it long ago. My humour is never meant to offend. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 17:01, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I do not intentionally set any RFA page on my watchlist (they are too busily popping up), so checked it after you said to me. Please "take out the whole conversation" including mine.--Caspian blue 17:15, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you do not mind my removal of the whole conversation based on the above misundnerstanding.[44] If you oppose my action, please just post the removed content to here.--Caspian blue
Grammar jokes are almost never funny. Best to stick with math humor and lolz. How's your singing voice? ChildofMidnight (talk) 17:54, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, while the number of my edits can compete yours now, the half of it could be attributed to my attempt to fix/reduce my countless production of typos and grammatical errors. I would be grateful if some bot-smart people make a function like "fg" or "fe" (fixing grammar or fixing English) like "m" for minor edit". Then the bubble of my contribution would be gone--Caspian blue 18:05, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! What a stressful talk page! Let me massage this page's shoulders :^^

Let me give you a sigh of relief. My request is pleasant, humorous, and should "dilute" the seriousness level of you talk page quite a bit. :) Anyways, I've had the most bizarre last 6 weeks of my life! My best friend tells me she's a non-Korean, Azn female (my online MCAT study buddy who I've been mentor/mentee with since March) and then 2.5 weeks ago I serendipitously meet a Korean over the phone and we clicked and had amazing chemistry and I got scared, didn't know what to do, and just blew off both people! I have about a 2 week break from all my friends, and I want to use this time to try and get rolling into the flow of Wikipedia. My last Wikipedia experience was propelled by developing acquaintances and then logging in to see what they've been up to and silently trying to help make small edits to articles that are important to people on my "like list". The only way someone like me can be a loner and stay single and move to Korea without getting sidetracked by more "realistic motivations" is if I become re-addicted into this hellacious RPG which on the outside looking in, seems like an encyclopedia that builds itself effortlessly and doesn't require "special agents" i.e. intelligent, unconventional editors like myself. Anyways, try and "make it obvious" by editing lots of low-quality articles for the rest of this month so that I can feel a sense of duty. Once I get into the flow of things, I'll be safe from the real world. If it doesn't work this kickstart, I'll drop back by in another couple of months and try again! Best, 윤리윤리윤리 (talk) 04:30, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, how have you been? I have not seen you for a while. I've thought some amount of my talk page is filled with playful things, but it could look serious. You had a good opportunity to get to know the Korean girl, so why hesitation, just go for it. And if you have a spare time from your heavy loaded work and studies, Wikipedia is always wide open for you. Good lucks.--Caspian blue 17:58, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, you should feel yourself lucky that I did not report you to AN3 today since you reverted to your preferred version without consensus or any effort to persuade your opponents with a valid logic. I may assume too good faith on you, but your latest reverts (update; you reverted again?) is called "continued tendentious edit warring" on your part, so that is worth reporting to there for asking for your responsibility. I see you've been quiet about "your alley", Gantuya eng (talk · contribs)'s unequal treatment of the situation, so I feel another irony from your conduct at my talk page. You'd better look upon your behavior. Cheers.--Caspian blue 01:16, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bridges over the Han River

Sorry to bother you, but there is one bridge on the Han River that is missing in the category. The Misa Bridge, which opened sometime in July this year is missing. I think it's part of the new highway they built in July. Anyways, I'd add my self but I don't know how. If you could please add it, it would be very helpful. Thanks. Jonathansuh (talk) 00:53, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done. For the next time, you can add an entry to {{Han River bridges}}. -Caspian blue 01:03, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the addition. I also have a question. Wouldn't it be better if we just left the bridges in the template, not sort them into alphabetical order? I liked it the way it used to be. If we had left them as they were, then Misa Bridge wiould be second-to-last. Just an opinion. Again, thanks.Jonathansuh (talk) 02:55, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if the template has a big map showing the bridges and river, the geographical order could be useful. However, the template is too small to show them and I don't know where to put Misa Bridge in the template, so I arranged it by alphabet order. You can open a discussion on the matter at WT:KOREA.--Caspian blue 03:00, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your interest/efforts on my expansion of the Hyanggyo article. First of all, please don't worry about "stealing your thunder". I understand many editors strive to create as many articles and make as many edits as they can. I am not concerned with counts, my motivation is not to accumulate big numbers. I'm most interested in quality, not quantity. So if you think there are benefits to splitting out the Goheung, Daegu and my yet planed, and unfinished addition (I'm slow), of the Jeonju Hyanggyo, I'm fine with that. However, before I/we do that, I would like to share some thoughts with you.

1) The Hyanggyo article is a "Start-Class" article. My objective is to improve that article by expanding it. My concern is that by splitting out the now 2 (expected 3) specific hyanggyo I would be creating 2 or 3 potentially "Stub-Class" articles (like my Ssangchungsa article), and would not do anything to improve the main Hyanggyo article.

2) Of particular concern is the Goheung Hyanggyo piece. References are poor, maybe too poor for a stand alone article (I would be concerned about it being deleted for lack of references and lack of interest criteria). The "east and west Mu" means nothing in English. "Mu" really should have a good explanation in English. And the "style of structure forms a Jeonhakhumyo" bit leaves me a little uncomfortable. Since you have reviewed/edited the article and have made no changes there, that may be okay, I just don't have a high level of confidence in my interpretation of Jeonhakhumyo. With this being part of the main Hyanggyo article, these short comings are more diluted.

3) My research has turned up little data on the Jeonju Hyanggyo yet, causing me concern again about having sufficient data to fill a decent sized discrete article.

As always I will rely on your sagely advice regarding this matter and follow your guidance. One last thing if I may. I am surprised to see that Galbijim Wiki is consider an unreliable source. I read over the "reliable source" guideline but failed to see why this is not a reliable source. I am not questioning you here, but to educate me, perhaps you would be kind enough point out where or how/why Galbijim Wiki fails to meet the required criteria, please. With much appreciation, Steve46814 (talk) 20:10, 31 October 2009 (UTC)\[reply]

Great. More time is fine with me. There is no deadline to meet and I can always use more time to polish the article and find errors. ;) I have a question I would appreciate help with sometime when it is convenient for you. I am finding 3 different spellings of the word for the lecture halls at the hyanggyos. Myeongyundang, MyeongNyundang and MyeongRyundang (caps N & R for emphasis only). Would you please tell me which is the best/preferred spelling. And I still would like to learn what "Mu" means/is, as well. Thank you for being so much help. Chun Doo-hwan article

  • Hello! Please refrain from editing this article for the next ~3 hours. I'm in the process of inserting my translation from Korean. I'm on a crappy internet connection just west of Baghdad and I have to deal with terrible latency and poor throughput, so having to deal with edit conflicts is going to be a PAIN! :( Every time I am finished making serious changes (i.e. when I go to bed) I always replace the message with another one welcoming people to make non-major changes. The changes you made are GREAT, but now is a really bad time for it! I will make sure I leave you a message when I'm done! Check out the Talk Page for more info on the translation/article recreation. Thanks!! FFLaguna (talk) 18:26, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • It is great that you improve the article, but I did not know you're in the bad situation to access internet. The minor edits are all that I wanted to do, so don't worry and keep up the good work.--Caspian blue 18:31, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello, again! Several issues:
  1. Do not remove the template from the Chun Doo-hwan page. Please read the template word for word, and you will see that it is correct for the page.
  2. Read the Talk Page for the article.
  3. View the page history and you will see that I have been adding to the page considerably over the last couple days.
  4. If you want to delete the <br> that is alright, but once again, please do not remove the template. If you look carefully, I have switched out the "in-use" template with the "major revamp" template.

Please come to the Talk Page and take part in the page revamp! So far it's just been me talking to myself. :( I need your help on some things and I want your comments! And as I said, I will make sure you are informed when the translation is completely posted, because the page will still require a lot of minor overhaul when I'm done. Thank you very, very much!! • I've removed most <br> tags, so there shouldn't be any problems with that part of the article anymore. Thanks for the link to WPKorea, but unfortunately there is not a lot of activity there. I am certainly planning on posting something when the article translation is fully posted. ;) FFLaguna (talk) 22:16, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dunkin' Donuts is very real [49]. What else is shaking? Have you had any good squid? What's the "in" food where you are? ChildofMidnight (talk) 06:59, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm...due to lacks of accessible reliable sources even in Korean media, I'm not sure I can create a dedicated article of kimchi donut. However, it could be included to Kimchi along with Kimchi burger and Kimchi chocolate. I enjoy eating semi dried and seasons squid whenever drinking beer. Well...since the world is heavily globalized by American foods, so well...I can say that Dunkin' Donuts is loosing its popularity over the new challenger, Krispy Kreme Donuts.--Caspian blue 07:23, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Thai script in article Thai cuisine

Hi there, thanks for your cooperation in that article. I just have a request and that is to leave the Thai scripts intact in the list with dishes. As it is a list, having Thai script there seems less intrusive than in-line in the text. Keeping all Thai script in that list of dishes would also seem more coherent for the lay-out seeing that many dishes in that list still do contain Thai script. I intend to remove the in-line Thai script from the main text (as long as they do not designate a dish) and place them in a list of Thai ingredients at a later stage. Takeaway (talk) 04:33, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for the visit, but I stand by my own edit to the article, and my assessment on non-English scripts on entries that have their own article. I understand that you want to make all entries consistent, but as a non-Thai speaker, the scripts are very distracting and prevent me from reading the article or even contributing to improve the article even though I have a strong interest in Thai cuisine. I think common readers would feel the same as mine. I have no knowledge of Thai language except "kung" referring to shrimp. You may or may not know that I created List of Thai dishes, but I stopped editing it because of the said reason. I also don't think that common ingredients having their common English names should have such scripts.--Caspian blue 06:13, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I rather suggest you to open a discussion and WP:RFC and inform WP:WikiProject Food and drink members of the discussion on whether such scripts should be used for entries that have their own article.--Caspian blue 06:24, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that the Thai script is slightly distracting but I would still suggest to keep them in the list of Thai dishes in that article. The fact that it is an orderly list, makes it less distracting. I understand that you would want to delete some of them as a way of minimising the distraction, whereas I would want to keep them as a way of minimising distraction by consistency of the lay-out, i.e. all dishes also have their name in Thai script. It is a shame that you have stopped expanding on the List of Thai dishes. I would suggest to wait with removing the Thai script from the list of dishes in the Thai cuisine article until they have all been added in to the page List of Thai dishes (It makes life a bit easier). After that, all Thai script can be removed from the list. As I mentioned in my first message, I find the Thai script which is embedded in the main text of the article much more distracting, especially because of the what the template [[:Template:Lang-th]] does and I hope to minimise the amount of Thai script there by creating a list of Thai ingredients based on your "List of Thai dishes" after which all Thai script can also be removed from the main text. Takeaway (talk) 06:47, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I'm not still persuaded to keep the scripts in the articles. The script is not slightly distracting as you said, but very distracting me to stop implementing the articles. There is no shame in my reasoning for that. I was willing to improve articles that deal with notable subjects, but have not received much attention by editors here. You don't mention about ingredients that have common English names should have the script. such as rice flour (paeng khao chao, Thai: แป้งข้าวเจ้า) and tapioca flour (paeng man sampalang, Thai: แป้งมันสำปะหลัง). The plan to remove such scripts until all entries are created sounds unconvincing since that means about 50 to 100 articles should be created. That would take about two years given my experience on creating cuisine-related articles. If you look into List of Spanish dishes, an article that I also created have non-English native names. I strongly suggest you to get more opinion on this matter.--Caspian blue 07:07, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What I mean to say is, keep the scripts on this page until the page "List of Thai dishes" is expanded and "List of Thai ingredients" has been made. These pages will include Thai script. After they have been made, most, if not all, Thai script from Cuisine of Thailand can be deleted. But out of convenience of editing those two "list" pages, leave the script up on the "Thai cuisine" page for the time being. Takeaway (talk) 07:24, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The Thai scripts can be easily added since you know Thai language, and the article history retain that info. Sorry that we can not agree with each other. I think I just need to stop even caring about the main article of Thai cuisine.--Caspian blue 07:37, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But I do agree with you, I do think that the Thai script should be deleted, but only after it is incorporated in to the "List of ..." pages. I don't write Thai either, I just copy and paste so that is why it is easier if everything stays together for a while for expanding the pages "List of Thai dishes" and "List of Thai ingredients". On the other hand, I just realised that I can C&P from a intermediate version of the "Thai cuisine" page, so if you want to, you can delete all Thai script from that article right now. :) Takeaway (talk) 08:01, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The reason why I started adding Thai script in the beginning was because there was an inconsistent adding of Thai script. It got a bit out of hand due to me wanting to consistently have the correct Thai name with every dish, but, as I said, I see it as useful for completely incorporating it all in to the "List..." pages. Takeaway (talk) 08:04, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gantuya eng's another snide edit summary without translation

Courtesy note

Hello, Caspian blue. This is a courtesy note on my removal of the checklist section you copied to Kathyrncelestewright's talkpage. As I'm sure you know, removing other's comments is unusual, so I want to explain properly:

The checklist you copied shows all the banned user's articles with fifty percent redlinked showing they've been deleted, another marked recreated and changed beyond recognition, and a note all had been tagged for removal. I am worried the policy provisions on allowing banned members to retreat "with their pride and dignity intact, whether permanently or for the duration of their ban" come into play here. What the checklist is, is a list on their own talkpage reinforcing most of their work was removed, one way or another, potentially updating (in red) in real time to show increasing amounts being removed. While it's not, of course, baiting, it does place something that a user in such a situation might find distressing, in front of them.

I fully understand you placed it as part of a genuine desire to help. I also note your efforts to respond to the user, plus your work source-checking. The user did refer to their awareness of various discussions. Striking a balance between keeping somebody appropriately informed and overabundance of information is difficult. I think, using their own talkspace to co-ordinate maintenance/activity is not the best option, in the circumstances. I do hope you aren't offended by my action, nor take it to mean your work on this is under-appreciated. As long as we all work together in a considered manner, we can resolve each aspect of the matter in a way that's commonly acceptable.Thank you. –Whitehorse1 20:51, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Understood, but my intention to gather all discussion to the one place is not to offend the banned user, but to help and to alert her to appeal her unban as quickly as possible. The current trend is going like "Ban is ban, and the deleted articles were deleted based on the legitimate G5". So if editors working on the peculiar case would prove soon that the banned user's contribution was from good faith and stick to the provided sources by checking on them, then the chance of the banned user's unban would occur highly likely. That's why I added the list. --Caspian blue 21:15, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Mmm, I know. The various rapid developing strands of an ongoing deletion review which gave rise to deleted articles having recreated articles on top that're themselves then deemed unsuitable to remain, while the main deletion discussion is still active; of good article reviews they conducted, matter of article contributions being verified as valid, as well as overarching related discussion, make it challenging to get on top of. If I might make a suggestion? It may help if you think of the articles as being not so much deleted but as away in deep-freeze, for now. That will help put any potential appeal in perspective, as well as allow informed decision on whatever needs to be changed and what needs to remain the same. –Whitehorse1 22:42, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hm..if I understand you correctly, you suggest me to be more patient toward the situation and ongoing deletion review?--Caspian blue 23:35, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just out of curiosity, are you a professional writer? --Caspian blue 23:52, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not, no. I have worked on technical writing projects for other opensource projects in the past though. There are a few excellent writers on here. I try to learn from the gorgeous prose they produce. A few years ago, I was lucky enough to get a lot of feedback on my writing style from an author. Her advice helped with a lot of my bad habits. :) –Whitehorse1 03:37, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fairness

I am very concerned by your lack of involvement in the Doughnut Drive. Please don't discriminate. ChildofMidnight (talk) 23:54, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, although I have sweet tooth, I barely eat doughnut (one piece per year?). However, I can contribute by searching and providing yummy images of doughnuts. -Caspian blue 23:58, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It sounds like you have a very strong POV. I hope that arbitration will not be required to sort this out. ChildofMidnight (talk) 01:50, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, we can demand to sort out deep-fried doughnuts, lightly fried doughnuts, chocolate chip-covered doughnuts, raisin doughnut and more than 1000 varieties with the hand of ArbCom. Since most of the Arbitration Committee members are American, so they discuss heavy and heated issues while enjoying doughnuts and a cup of coffee instead of British scone and afternoon tea, we can expect what is the future of the doughnuts. However, I rather choose to join the Mad hatter's tea party with furry animals instead of the committee's meeting. :-) --Caspian blue 16:57, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Caspian

Thanks for leaving that message on my talk page. I hardly ever visit Wikipedia anymore. It seems like all my free time is eaten up by other things these days. I'm trudging very slowly through Syme's book right now, which User:PManderson suggested I should read (see our talk page discussion at Talk:Augustus). Unfortunately, he refuses to explain why he has a problem with the article, but insists that a problem exists (???). Since I'm still reading Syme's work, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that Professor Werner Eck doesn't know what he's talking about, at least in the book that I cited. Although this particular book by Eck was not published by a university press, Eck has long been a professor at places such as Universität des Saarlandes in Germany. So, we'll see if I merely repeated glaring errors and mistakes made by Eck or not. I'll see what I can do about Augustus, but this might take a long time, since I'm no expert on Roman history, let alone the age of Civil Wars. Cheers.--Pericles of AthensTalk 12:30, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Bejun Mehta

Updated DYK query On November 29, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Bejun Mehta, which you recently nominated. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Hwaeomsa

Hi, Caspian. I don't know if you have seen the film The Agony and the Ecstasy, but there is a reoccurring scene when the pope asks Michelangelo when he will make an end of painting the Sistine Chapel, to which the artist keeps replying (I think), "When I am finished."

The short answer to your question is, I dunno. The truth is that though the article is getting bigger and becoming more polished, I'd like to work on it some more before transferring it out of my sandbox. Actually, it has a lot more room to grow; especially the sections about the National Treasures and Daeungjeon Hall, which I think will become articles in their own right. There are still a number of sources (about 6 to 10) that I would like to consult and include in the article before I could safely say that it has been "fully written". One of the fortunate things about this topic is that there really only about 20 useful sources, so it is possible to consult everything before bringing the article to a close, at least from my end.

It has been a labor of love and I am not quite ready to cut the umbilical cord just yet. I am deathly afraid of edit wars and all the other nonsense that sometimes goes on at WP - it would just sap the fun right out of this project. My initial theory was to work on a very undeveloped area that needed work and thus avoid some of the frustration that has caused some good editors to leave WP. I'd love your help if you are interested in collaborating, but for the moment I'd like to keep it off the main site. Waygugin (talk) 04:10, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, I'm glad that you have not only a good sense of humor but also quite a taste in film! The recommended average size of an article is 35,000 bytes (prose only), but the article is already well over 45,000, so I thought the question is worth a try. The Buddhist temple is quite notable, but the temple is a least heated subject, so hm....I never thought any ugly edit warring would happen on the article. I understand your concerns, so I have to respect that. Keep up the good work.--Caspian blue 04:20, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

I've been inactive on wikipedia since October, after my unsuccessful FAC nomination of Economic history of China (pre-1911). Since then I've become very busy with SAT, schoolwork, stocks, etc.. so I haven't had much time on wikipedia. It seems Tenmei is back and without a mentor- not a good sign. Don't worry though, the way he is behaving he's going to get himself sanctioned rather quickly. On a related note, can you take a look at Economic history of China (pre-1911), and the previous FAC nomination to give me advice on a second one? I'm thinking of nominating it again in a month or so when christmas vacation starts.Teeninvestor (talk) 16:37, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, it's indeed been a while. Okay, I will look into the article when I have a time. The last FAC was close too early, so I hope this time you have the honor of obtaining a FA. The process is definitely worthy for you to spend your time. :-) Caspian blue 19:41, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!

Hello! Yes I've returned to editing as Baldy. I made 15,000 edits as Himalayan but I just feel more at home being me if you know what I mean. The people who think that all Blofeld did was create (useless) stubs are wrong, I don't need to prove myself to them. I should continue as I'm happiest. That doesn't mean mass creating stubs again it just means feeling free to edit and do what I think is best whatever others might think of me. Shey Palace has been nominated for DYK already! Yes Mr. Bigglesowrth is safe and well but feeling cold. Brrrr....brrrr. After all we've been cryogenically frozen for sometime! Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:40, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Caspian, can you do me a favour and double-check the Korean name infobox in this article? I'm not sure if "Gim Okbin" and "Kim Okpin" should have a hyphen or not. Thanks in advance! PC78 (talk) 00:55, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Damascus

Thank you for the commending words! I'm glad you've taken an interest in translating the Gaza article or at least parts of it. I too think that Arab-related subjects are "underestimated" and that's why I want to help improve an article on such a prestigious Arab city. Thankfully, there is much broader editor participation in this article, unlike Gaza. I also noticed your many contributions in the East Asian subject area. It's great to see more of the "Eastern" world being covered on Wikipedia so I wish you luck. Keep up the great work too, friend. Cheers! --Al Ameer son (talk) 02:42, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AKOM collaboration proposal

Hi Caspian blue, hope you are doing well. I see you have done some quality improvement work on content related to South Korea. I have done a little bit on that topic, and a bit of WP:DYK/WP:GA/WP:FA work related to The Simpsons. One interesting article where the two topics intersect is the article AKOM, a South Korean animation studio that has done quite a bit of work for The Simpsons. It is currently unreferenced and a stub. Perhaps you would like to work on it with me as a collaboration effort - to first improve it to DYK and then perhaps further in quality? ;) Cirt (talk) 04:00, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the offer and consideration. The company is important in Korean animation history. However, my hands are fully tied with the GAC on Korean cuisine and related articles, so I'm currently in the mood of creating a butch of food articles (and have to)...so can I say, "rain check"? --Caspian blue 03:21, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, the offer is on the table. Let me know if you change your mind. :) Cheers, Cirt (talk) 03:23, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unable to resist bacon's temptations, rogue editors have kicked off the Bacon Challenge 2010 before the New Year even starts! This is a fun and collegial event and all are welcome. There are many non-pork articles for editors who enjoy some sizzle, but object to or don't like messing with pig products. This year's event also includes a Bacon WikiCup 2010 for those who may want to keep score and enjoy engaging in friendly competition. Given the critical importance of this subject matter, I know you will want to participate, so remember to sign up today and get started A.S.A.P. ALL ARE WELCOME!!! It wasn't immediately evident to me why you promoted the cropped version of this painting. Only one editor specifically preferred the cropped version, and several provided detailed rationales for preferring the uncropped version. Can you explain? Thanks. Chick Bowen 16:37, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I closed 12 FPC nominations at once, so I may have done some errors. However, I don't agree that "Only one editor specifically preferred the cropped version", because two regulars did not specify their preference even though the "frame" issue had been brought up. Another one supported both. Regardless, I will fix to change the file. Thank you for the visiting.--Caspian blue 00:39, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FPC Closures

Hi Caspian,

Well done on the FPC closing you've been doing.

Just noticed the delists you closed today (only cos I was about to do some of them) - just so you're aware, as with promotions, delists are now supposed to have 5 'supports' before being delisted. From the header section: "For delisting, if an image is listed here for about seven days with five or more opinions to delist or replace (including the nominator)...". They're probably not that controversial, but should really stick to the guidelines.

Cheers, --jjron (talk) 07:47, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments about Inchon (film)

Caspian blue, thank you for your comments about the article I worked very hard on, Inchon (film). I have taken your suggestions into consideration and promptly directly implemented your wording recommendations into the lede of the article [51].

I must say however I was a bit taken aback by your framing the issue as Cirt "POV pushing" at the article's talk page and making some rather hurtful claims about me. Perhaps you could assume good faith and redact some of that, particularly your choice of subsection header title on the talk page?

Thank you again for your helpful recommendations for the article's lede - actually I was looking for a way to shorten it a bit and your recommendation for that last paragraph is most appreciated. Cirt (talk) 09:37, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Caspian blue, thank you very much for your acknowledgement of my improvements to the article and the fact that I directly took into account your suggestions [52], [53].
I feel I must point out, however, that some of the inflammatory language you chose to direct at me is still present at the article's talk page. I especially take issue with your use of the word "hate", which I found to be very hurtful and offensive towards me. I do not "hate" anything, except perhaps awful things in life like genocide. I would appreciate either an apology or a redaction of this wording you chose to use, and in the future for you to refrain from doing so.
Thanks again very much for toning down your choice of subsection header on the talk page - I very much appreciate that. Cirt (talk) 14:54, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I intended to tone down my wording per your civil but strong demand, but currently have no enough time for editing Wikipedia. I know the presence of the POV templates give huge discredit to the article's reliability and stressful to you, so checked how it is improved in my limited time, and then removed them. I also redacted the title on the talk page for my first step as the redaction. However, I do not feel to apologize for my wording to you at all; you may be offended by my "honest" criticism on your article, but you don't know how strongly I got shocked and disgruntled after reading the biased article without knowing anything about the film and its background. (only assumed that would be another film on Korean War and General McArthur and worthy reading it for potential GA) Your second demand here discredit your high appreciation to my point-out and makes them disingenuous. I will promise to tone down my writing much later, but I don't owe apology to you. Have a good day.--Caspian blue 15:14, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Caspian blue, thank you very much for this [54]. I really appreciate it. I hope you are doing well, Cirt (talk) 14:09, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
