This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Орай-Орай (talk | contribs) at 13:57, 13 October 2018 (→‎Russia: add ROSTOV-4 Commercial Operation Date). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

This is a list of all the commercial nuclear reactors in the world, sorted by country, with operational status. The list only include civilian nuclear power reactors used to generate electricity for a power grid. All commercial nuclear reactors use nuclear fission. As of April 2018, there are 449 operable reactors in the world, with a combined electrical capacity of 394 GW. Additionally, there are 58 reactors under construction and 154 reactors planned, with a combined capacity of 63 GW and 157 GW, respectively.[1] Over 300 more reactors are proposed.[1]

Notes:
^a Post-Fukushima shutdown of eight reactors. On 15 March 2011, the German Government decided to close seven nuclear power plants built before 1980 along with the Krümmel nuclear power plant for a duration of three months.[17] The temporary shutdown was changed into permanent shutdown by the German parliament on 30 June 2012. The remaining nine plants that stayed operational were given new decommissioning dates.[18]

As of 8 December 2014, the Swiss parliament has voted to limit the operational life-time of Beznau I & II to no more than 60 years, and to enshrine a ban of constructing new reactors in the Constitution. However, this decision still has to pass the Council of States and it is likely that a referendum will be taken against such amendment. In addition, an Initiative of limiting the life-span of all nuclear reactors to 45 years will have to be voted upon the Swiss, irrespective of whether the legislature will actually enforce the constitutional amendment or not.[30]
