BRICS Games is a yearly multi-sport event organised by the countries of the BRICS economic group. The event is generally organized by the country which holds the chairmenship of the group in the year.[1]

Events

The first BRICS tournament was held in Ganghzou, China, in 2017.[2]

BRICS Games 2021 was organised by India,[3][4] which will be aligned with the Khelo India Games scheduled for the same year. This announcement was made by the Indian Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Kiren Rijiju at the meeting of Sports Ministers of the BRICS nations. India holds the chairmanship of the five-nation independent international group in 2021.[5] The games will be held during the same time and at the same venues as of Khelo India Games 2021[6] will have the benefit of witnessing BRICS Games from close quarters.[needs update]

The 2022 event was organized by China, which was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[1]

The 2023 event will be organized by South Africa and be held in October 2023 in Durban.[7] In 2024, Russia will hold the event in Kazan, on June 20-23.[needs update][8]
