Help?

@SafariScribe Hello SafariScribe, thank your for your kind offer to help me improve my draft Draft:Bertrand_Malmendier. You do not need to delete the sources and the promotional stuff yourself. For a start, it's enough if you tell me the critical points. My text is a non-judgmental list that also contains criticism of Malmendier as a person. So please tell me which elements are not formulated neutrally from your point of view. By the way: The article about Malmendier was accepted in the German Wikipedia; isn't that proof of quality?. ;-) Thank you very much! Guido von Crema (talk) 12:38, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@SafariScribe I am wondering why my Draft:Shammai_Kancepolsky was declined due to unreliable sources? My sources are generally news articles and while some are in a foreign language, I did not think that would make them unreliable. A similar article was published using many of these sources on the Hebrew Wikipedia page about the same subject and I am confused as to why there are different standards. Please let me know if there is any chance the article can be published with these primary and secondary sources. Thanks so much!@Tamsragow

@SafariScribe dear safari why did you decline my quantum economic model article. I'm kinda new to wikipedia. Can you help me improve it, you can edit things that you may see as unfit, also I'm Kevin Randal Rulach, I'm the formulator of this concept, so I have full rights to it. I want to publish this in Wikipedia, it would be a great help if you can look into it and make the necessary changes as required by wikipedia. also share your whatsapp if possible. @krypton369 @krypton369

@SafariScribe Can I ask (just ask) why my Draft:Gianluca_Neri contribution was rejected due to a lack of sources, when there are 31 sources cited, mostly from popular magazines and newspapers? Thank you. Tiziano (talk) 18:10, 08 Jul 2024 (UTC+1)

What happened to our working draft? I went to save a change and the sandbox no longer exists? SusunW (talk) 17:16, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like you asked for it to be deleted? Why? The point is to preserve the history by pointing to the sandbox edits and finish working on sections. I am confused, since I only asked you to move the first section back to the main article. SusunW (talk) 17:25, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have requested undeletion by the deleting admin Fastily. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 17:32, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Will come back when I can. Real life stuff is happening at the moment. SusunW (talk) 17:37, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I was able to talk to my mom and everything is okay with her for the moment. Please slow down and do not rush the article. As I said, it will take time and we need to get it right. I told you that I wasn't finished reviewing the LGBT material that was already in the main article, but it is not there anymore and the legacy section is gone. No worries, I will pull what I need from the history. Please note, I plan processes and am a very methodical worker, especially in a peer review. I cannot function well or sign off that things have been completed if the process I outlined is ignored. Of course any time you want, you can stop the peer review, but if you want me to continue mentoring you, please do not anticipate/ignore my instructions. If I ask you to do steps 1, 2, and 3, please do those and stop. Certainly we can discuss things, but I need things to happen in a certain order, unless we mutually agree on another plan. I need to regroup, lots going on right now, but I'll come back to the review later, hopefully today. SusunW (talk) 18:10, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I came back to work, but cannot. All of the edits I made this morning to style have disappeared. When you get the sandbox restored, ping me if you want to continue collaborating. I don't have the energy to find all of the sources and rewrite what I already wrote today. SusunW (talk) 19:22, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will do that. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 20:20, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@SusunW, Liz has restored the sandbox, and thanks for your patience. Can we continue now? Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 16:36, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from BenjaminSchmidt745 (19:52, 12 May 2024)

How do I make my Wikipedia article famous online? --BenjaminSchmidt745 (talk) 19:52, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi and welcome. I answered that in your first question. Remember that an editor is discouraged to create an article about his/herself and should follow certain rules especially the WP:COI. Can I see the article in question. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 19:55, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The COVID-19 pandemic ended in April 2024. The virus officially became an endemic virus. The pandemic ended because many people stopped dying and it was no longer a leading cause of death. The COVID-19 virus causes most people to have mild or cold-like symptoms, many have moderate symptoms like they do for the flu, and some even have severe symptoms. However, very few died and it is less common to have severe symptoms than it was before. Most people with mild to moderate symptoms do not get long-COVID. The people that are at risk of dying or having severe symptoms are very immunocompromised people or the elderly, but even most elderly people still survive and most of them have mild to moderate symptoms. COVID-19 is seasonal. COVID-19 now occurs high and has waves in the fall and winter, and goes downhill in spring and summer and waits to come back again in fall and winter. You can still get COVID-19 in the spring and summer, but it is not very common. You may hear people year-round complaining they have the flu or COVID-19, but you should no longer expect to get COVID-19 in spring or summer. However, COVID-19 and the flu are not common in spring or summer, but it is not rare. COVID-19 has mutated so much since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and has gotten slowly overtime more mild. This is due to people getting herd immunity and natural immunity to COVID-19. This stopped infections killing people as much and the newer variants have become more contagious than they were before, but are more mild and less damaging to our immune systems and for long-COVID or death. Hundreds of people in the world are still dying from COVID-19, but comparing the number of infections this number does seem mild. This number is fewer than the deaths of car crashes now, thankfully. COVID-19 is here to stay and is not leaving. This marks the virus as endemic. We have already had four endemic coronaviruses, and this is our fifth endemic coronavirus that we are just going to have to deal with. We may expect more pandemics and even coronaviruses in the future, but we are in an endemic for now. The COVID-19 pandemic was expected at the start of the pandemic for the virus to be eradicated, but at least it is a seasonal thing and less severe. There were many reasons why COVID-19 was never eradicated. Most people are now living regular pre-COVID lives like they were and it is happening again. There are many variants of COVID-19 and it is hard to stop and it is already in animals and that means it is hard if not impossible to eradicate now. The number of people that test positive for an infection are lower than they were before, but that is because COVID-19 tests do not work as well. Sadly this is true, but you can always use a COVID-19 test at your doctor's office or pharmacy. The good news is that COVID-19 is usually mild and will not require a test and you will have the virus without knowing it or needing a test. The COVID-19 pandemic has officially ended and became endemic in April 2024. This is good news for the world! BenjaminSchmidt745 (talk) 20:18, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Babita

Do you know why this move request was not relisted, even though there was still a debate about it? --Jax 0677 (talk) 21:48, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Jax 0677,
There was consensus based on the fact that the page views makes Babita the primary topic over the rest in the DAB page. Though I gave a little weight to your proposal because the one you said of, was already in the DAB page and still not the primary topic. I hope you understand. Thanks. Safari ScribeEdits! Question from Alex.Dybala (20:14, 14 May 2024)

Hi.

I have added a table identical to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serie_A_Player_of_the_Month#Multiple_winners

When I move it to the main Serie A page, it comes up, but not the flag. Can you help? --Alex.Dybala (talk) 20:14, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Alex.Dybala (21:50, 14 May 2024)

I've added a new image of Paulo Dybala (I know I'm obsessed with him but thats besides the point) which can be used but when adding AS Roma tag below, no link appears. Could you fix and explain how I can for the future?

Thanks --Alex.Dybala (talk) 21:50, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have done that. It's wonderful you just entered Wikipedia and has known all of this like "piping", literally use of pipes (|). Have you edited previously with any other account? Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 21:58, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No I haven't. I just saw "Argentina national football| Argentina.
I just want to be able to update any info I can do on my favourite topics :) Alex.Dybala (talk) 22:02, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Couldn't "Dybala in 2023" be changed to Dybala playing for (A.S Roma|AS Roma) in 2023 Alex.Dybala (talk) 22:04, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, leave it as it is in the current state. Remember you can say "with football". Best, for images, it's written in the circa or date. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 22:09, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Alex.Dybala (04:43, 15 May 2024)

Is this normal? When I search up Paulo Dybala on the search bar, the face isn't centred in the photo. Is there anyway to fix that? --Alex.Dybala (talk) 04:43, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thats not the goal of Wikipedia. You can usually see images on the third image carousel of a Google panel. It isn't necessary and you should focus on editing or creating more articles that will be beneficial. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 06:03, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rejection of new article

I recently submitted a new article covering an emerging British feminist author which was rejected by you for not having reliable sources. I am confused by this decision, as the article included sourcing from several major news publications and publishing industry news outlets. Would you be able to explain your decision so I can improve the article? Arcadianlandscape (talk) 13:55, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't rejected, it was declined for further improvement. It is a different thing to say "rejected" (that the topic is off from Wikipedia policy and goal), while "declined" (is that it isn't so good for inclusion in the mainspace. More improvements will be done for that). I hope you understand the meaning of the two. However, it was declined as lacking reliable source at the time of submission. Thanks. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 17:08, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply and clarification. I am no clearer on the reliable sources issue: there were multiple news publications including The Times and The Bookseller (a well-respected journal of the publishing industry), so I am unsure how the assessment was made. Arcadianlandscape (talk) 21:21, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Arcadianlandscape, you can also take a look at WP:RS for what we call reliable sources or the assessment here. You can also check WP:NAUTHOR, where we have the place to check whether the subject you're writing on meets that criteria. Regards. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 21:25, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page watcher) psst...the draft cites the other Times, SafariScribe—WP:THETIMES (generally reliable), not WP:TOI (questionable reliability). Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 11:06, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@SafariScribe Would it be possible for you to review the submission again? I am confident the revised submission meets the guidelines. Thanks in advance. Arcadianlandscape (talk) 12:26, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unexplained CSD tag removal and misuse of rollback

Is there a particular reason you removed a CSD tag from Return to Oz(song)? I also noticed that you used rollback to do so, which doesn't fit any of the criteria listed at WP:ROLLBACKUSE.

Your most recent rollback uses, ignoring those in which you were reverting yourself:

If you keep up without being more careful about your rollback usage you will likely end up losing the perm. Pinging the granter (@Malinaccier) in case they wish to comment. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:12, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Hey man im josh, I will take note of that. Thanks for the impactful concern. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 17:10, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Hey man im josh, thanks for looping me in. SafariScribe, please make sure to only use rollback for obvious cases of vandalism. Basically, you should never use rollback any time that you ought to be writing an edit summary. If this pattern continues, any administrator can remove the permission without further warning, so please be careful. Malinaccier (talk) 18:53, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much @Malinaccier, I will be more careful....What am I saying. I am already careful. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 18:55, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging pages for speedy deletion

Hello, SafariScribe,

Please review Criteria for Speedy Deletion so you are better familiar with the criteria for speedy deletion. Do not tag pages for speedy deletion unless they meet a CSD criteria EXACTLY. You can not make up reasons why a page should be speedied. For example, redirects are not deleted because the page title is close to an article title. In fact, that is a good reason to create a redirect because it is close to an actual article title.

It's very important if you are going to be patrolling to correctly tag pages for speedy deletion because they all need to be reviewed and it wastes other editors' time if they need to review and decline pages you have tagged for speedy deletion. The best way to avoid this is to know the CSD criteria so well that you get it right every time. Some of the criteria seem obvious but the wording for them is very precise so never guess, if you aren't sure then go to WP:CSD to confirm your suspicions. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 23:56, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Liz, thanks for reminding me. I was a bit confused there, thank God it has been clarified and i'do be more careful in the future. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 00:11, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Defendersofhistory If only you read what c:COM:NETCOPYVIO said before uploading those images. Without doing any personal explanation, let me copy-paste what it says here for you.

:::The fact that an image has been posted to a publicly-available website does not give you implied permission to re-use it nor to upload it here. Many websites are silent on copyright issues, but images on those sites are just as off-limits as those on sites which explicitly say "Copyright, all rights reserved". Works are copyrighted by default in most countries due to their agreement with the c:Berne Convention; a copyright notice or a © sign is not needed.

This is quite self-explanatory, do not pick images from random websites and upload to Commons unless you have been given the permission from the original owner of the image to reuse the image and it follows Commons' c:COM:LICENSE. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 12:46, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@VanderwaalforcesThanks for ur Kind Reply.. I want to inform you that, the so called image has been uploaded by me in my Instagram page and I have not issued any copyright to it so far. I have not borrowed or downloaded those images from any public platform. It has been uploaded by my team itself. If it's a copyright violation, fine let it be. I have no issues. @BarrelProof, it isn't a must that a request should reach the 7-days period for discussion when there are all support and no opposing for even a relist. Welp, I will reopen the discussion. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 12:45, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BarrelProof, before I could reopen it, it has been technically moved. If you insist of getting the previous title, I wouldn't mind calling for the revert. Or you request another move. Thanks! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 12:53, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I want it moved back and reopened. I have been planning to comment. It is obvious if you look back at the history of that discussion that it has been contentious for years and years. It should not have been closed prematurely. Only two people commented before the premature closure. Per WP:RMEC, RMs should "should remain open for at least seven days (168 hours)", with few exceptions — BarrelProof (talk) 12:56, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BarrelProof, you seemed to be somewhat arguing as if my close wasn't correctly done. There is already a clear consensus and per same WP:RMEC, it's few days to the closure but still, there is already a consensus. I have requested the technical reversion of the move while you continue your edits thereafter. Thanks! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 13:07, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User talk:E-358-lit

While your intent in doing this was obviously in good faith, you were interrupting an ongoing conversation. There was no need to archive the discussion, and per WP:USERTALKSTOP should not have been done. The user had already expressed their desired changes on the article's talk page, and I was trying to assist the user without having a bunch of policy/guideline/essay pages thrown at them. Some of what I was expressing to them had nothing to do with the article directly, and had to do with Wikipedia in general as well. I have reverted your removal of the content. Let E-358-lit do that if they so choose to do so. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 20:38, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Hammersoft, Oh! My bad, sorry for the misinterpretation. If the discussion is still on course, please help me unarchive it. Thanks. Please I do hope you aren't angry? Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 20:42, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Angry? No. You're currently reading words coming from the master of screwups :) I've already undone the edits. With your approval, I can delete User talk:E-358-lit/Archive 1. Sound good? --Hammersoft (talk) 20:45, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh hell. I'm in for it now! Maybe I should preemptively archive my user talk page. Except, I don't have user talk archives. Uh oh! --Hammersoft (talk) 20:56, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry @SafariScribe, I posted the same question below but blanked it since Hammersoft beat me to it. Fully understand your intention was to clean up some huge walls of text, especially since some of the comments were tagged as potential self promotion. I would only say that I don't think there are many cases where one should archive discussions on other people's talk pages. That could be very confusing to a newcomer as well, so it might be best to try to avoid it in the future. But, no harm no foul. Mokadoshi (talk) 20:57, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Mokadoshi, thank you so much and have a good day. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 21:02, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

History

I Hello, it would be better if u make a change in the history of the Diocese. It's now incomplete and mis leading. U may use the history in the official website of the diocese as a reliable source. Thank u Defendersofhistory (talk) 02:32, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

• Defendersofhistory, I'm not SafariScribe (and I'm also not a "u"), but I have some questions here. You were talking, above, about things NOT being copyright violations--well, you can't just copy and paste things, and even if there had been the proper license (same with the Instagram pictures), this was not a good edit. This is an encyclopedia, not a copy of y'all's website. Now, when I look at Roman Catholic Diocese of Cochin, I see that SafariScribe has done a lot of work of exactly the kind that Wikipedians should be doing. I have not seen you work on that article, besides two small edits. Finally, no, the "official website of the diocese" is not automatically a reliable source, I'm afraid: it's a primary source, one that's obviously not neutral, which leads me to my last point--but that will be clear by the COI template I'm about to put on your talk page. Move request at talk:Valianivske

I am not going to contest it, because it is useless, just to remark here that none of the supports is policy based (none of them tried to argue WP:COMMONNAME as required by the policy, which must have been the focus of the discussion), and that saying that I did not provide any evidence means that you have not looked at the article. Pretty bad close in my opinion. Ymblanter (talk) 08:09, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Ymblanter, I noticed the move lacking "relist" after a certain period of time. I know where you are going to, however, I took the source presented by the nominator and the other "support" (against your rationale). I don't find what you argued as provided with no source and per Roman Spinner, the lede was as the proposed title sourced too. I know it was bad but I also want to know you're happy forgiving the mishap. Do you mind I do reopen it? Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 08:21, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I think it is fine to reopen. I do not necessarily argue against the move (otherwise I would have voted oppose), but I want the move to be based on policy-based arguments and not on opinions of users who in some way are affiliated with one side of the conflict. If there is no evidence of COMMONNAME at the moment, may be it should be closed as no consensus, and we can wait for the evidence. Thanks for considering this and being responsive. Ymblanter (talk) 08:31, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, forgot to comment about the lede. It is a remnant of an undiscussed move. Ymblanter (talk) 08:31, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ymblanter, I have reopened it and thanks for being diplomatic. I am worthy grateful. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 08:42, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks. Ymblanter (talk) 08:44, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It was of course just reclosed (the closer presumably thought it was reopened in error), and the same team of biased users went on to provide literally the same arguments for other pages. I just took all of them off my watchlist. Ymblanter (talk) 19:09, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ymblanter, I didn't see that, and I am so sorry. It's now I am seeing the closure and just thought of same too. Please don't remove them from your watchlist, they are needed for upkeep. I will reopen the discussion for further consensus because it's more than necessary. Thanks. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 22:29, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ymblanter, I've also discussed it https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Paine_Ellsworth#Talk:Valianivske#Requested_move_14_May_2024 and in any case if you insist, a new one could be opened or an informal discussion in the talk page. Any opinion? Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 01:20, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would just let it go. If the current situation is that multiple closers move multiple pages on a request of two clearly partisan users who have no policy-based arguments, there is very little I can do about it. We just need to remember that this area of Wikipedia is full of propaganda which was deliberately added there. Ymblanter (talk) 05:31, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To be clear, SafariScribe, you can reopen an RM if you also revert the move. But reopening without reverting the move is what caused this to be a "malformed request".
I also came here because I noticed you've been closing several RMs before 7 days have elapsed. When you do that, you should note that it is an early closure (WP:RMEC) and why you're closing it early. I would recommend not closing them early unless there is some special reason not to wait the standard 7 days. SilverLocust 💬 05:43, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@SilverLocust, thank you for that observance. However, I do close pages move request earlier when I know there is already a consensus. Thanks. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 05:45, 27 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your work on Draft:David Wicht

Forgive my curiosity, may I ask what prompted you to take the task on?

The reason I ask is that the creating editor first solicited me on my talk page to write this article, presumably for pay since she is a paid editor, and then asked me where she might find other editors willing to write the article, presumably for pay.

I am not casting aspersions on your motives, nor am I accusing you of writing this for pay. I think the draft needed the massive improvements you are bringing to it. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 09:44, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ah! Now I understand. I see you were prompted by kindness. Thank you, and, perhaps, please forgive my impertinence. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 09:47, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Timtrent, you were the one who inspired me to take in that draft. I was about replying an edit at AFC/help board and saw your comments, which made me to look at your contributions and then to talk. Seeing the draft also, I saw your comment of passing FILM PRODUCER. Welp, I wasn't invited my anyone but I hate seeing much comment without helping the draft. I also know I am not looking at any payment because if so, I would have not being happy with the editor since I hate paid editing. I just use my time making a difference, such unwanted to make in Simon Ekpa, and the many from the ongoing peer review on Adichie. Look the the editors talk page too and see my message there. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 09:50, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, after I posted I saw your interaction with the creating editor. I see true altruism in you. I do hope your work doesn't allow her to be paid. She deserves no pay for the work she has done.
Probably, it would be wise to submit it for review after you have made it as good as you can, and allow it to sink or swim. I think it will swim. Other eyes are always good when we finish a difficult task. I will not review it again, though it is now in a radically different state after your excellent and brutal edits 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 10:01, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am sad too to see myself edit for an editor who will make no impact. But aside from that, if we don't help out, though she/they are loosing but it doesn't leave the fact that the article may be notable and it's out of good faith. Thanks for that as we all help in clearing the heavy backlog. It as much love cleaning up articles, it leaves me with joy of seeing good and neat articles. Thanks for the encouragement. The sources you added still doesn't show the article meets our notability guidelines per WP:ORG. However per WP:NSCHOOL, a existence of a school which I have confirmed doesn't mean that school merits an article. So your draft has been redirected to the subject topic. Thank you. ok. can i get back that draft in order to work on it as per the rules 2409:4073:4D18:ED99:E8AC:FFE5:D97B:99D0 (talk) 09:28, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It would be well and good if I get back that draft so that I can work on it and publish it without a redirect.
Please. 117.230.7.108 (talk) 13:54, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Redirecting is the best option here as when you may have publish it to mainspace, it will be deleted or redirected. That's usual per WP:SCHOOLOUTCOME. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 18:23, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Boots (Dora the Explorer) (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

• disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
• disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
• is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Question from God devotee (12:45, 29 May 2024)

How to edit semi protect pages. --User : God devotee 12:45, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @God devotee, and welcome to Wikipedia. To make an edit to a semi-protected page, you have to make the edit request per WP:PP if you are a new user or for any level of protection.
You can do that by clicking the blue button.
Request edit to protected page Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 12:54, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Page mover

It looks like you may need page mover rights soon, given your WP:RM closures (meeting the third criterion at WP:PMCRITERIA). Obviously, you have made more than 3,000 edits, meeting the second criterion. The only problem is that you have not yet been a registered user for at least 6 months, so you may ask for those rights as soon as July 13 or later (to meet the first criterion), if you answer "no" for the following question (meeting the fourth criterion):

Have you had any recent behavioral blocks or WP:3RR violations?

GTrang (talk) 16:48, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you @GTrang. I have had such an invitation in the early days but as it stands, I don't meet the criterion 1 of WP:PMCRITERIA. I wouldn't mind reaching the six months. Thanks. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 17:04, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for your contributions. I'll note that your close of this discussion is premature; RMs should stay open at least 7 days. 162 etc. (talk) 17:04, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:RMEC, the closure is considerable as WP:SNOWCLOSE. I have also made up not closing earlier than expected. I appreciate your kind intentions and who am I not to incorporate them. Thank you. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 17:10, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Clearly, I support the end result, since I proposed the move. However, less than 48 hours (!) is not enough time for an RM, even though all the editors involved thus far have supported the proposed title. Not everybody is on this website on a daily basis, and others should have the time to be involved too. 162 etc. (talk) 19:03, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I get it. Even if you weren't the proposer, there is always need that I shall reopen (which I will not live to do after cautions). Great thanks 162 etc. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 19:15, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please also stop closing/relisting RMs after 6 days. WP:RMEC is very clear about what it means by 7 days: 168 hours. That is, when the request is below WP:RMC#Elapsed listings. There was no reason, for example, to close Talk:Theodore Morse 22 hours early with only 3 participants. SilverLocust 💬 04:38, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@SilverLocust, I am not doubting your good faith intentions and previous correction. However, I also know that when a move request is highly likely to be 'move', onw should go ahead and same applicable vice versa. I don't think there will be move review for that. Thanks. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 04:49, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was writing a reply at the technical request before it was withdrawn, so I'll just put it here.
The norm is for RMs to be left open for 7 days so that people have that opportunity to see the discussion. Some editors, including me, will check RMs more often when they are near elapsing (6–7 days) to see if we want to comment, rather than when they were first opened. There have been several times that I have opposed an uncontested request after six or seven days. "It can sometimes be better to allow a few extra days even if current discussion seems very clearly to hold one opinion, to avoid precluding significant input and as a courtesy to ensure that it really will be a snowball" (emphasis added) (quoting WP:RMEC).
And it's not enough that the request looks obviously correct, unless "there is clearly no need at all to prolong discussion further" (emphasis added). For example, a snow close may be useful when the request is nonsensical, or when it is actively wasting the time of many users, or when it is a repeat request of a recently closed RM.
It is considerably more common to have a "not moved. WP:SNOW" closure [1] than a "moved. WP:SNOW" closure [2], since WP:SNOW is more focused on when "an issue has no chance of succeeding". It's much easier to conclude that an argument that has been made has no possible chance of success rather than that all possible counterarguments that nobody has yet offered have no chance of success.)
Also, early closures should have a closing comment that makes clear that it was closed early, so that people are aware of that. This can be as simple as adding the comment "WP:SNOW" after the result. SilverLocust 💬 04:01, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Now I grasp the major points. Thank you many times @SilverLocust. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 04:04, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on New York Knickerbockers (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

• disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);

Question from Lauder12 (07:04, 31 May 2024)

Hello! Somebody wrote an article about my grandfather (he was an Armenian painter) in Armenian language. Now i started working on organizing his legacy and wanted to translate the page about him to English, but the system says i can't do that because i don't have experience. I wonder if you can suggest what to do in this situation --Lauder12 (talk) 07:04, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If your grandfather is notable, writing about him may infringe our rule on WP:COI. I can help but will check if he is notable. May I get the link? Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 07:10, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh! Do you mean this. It's quite notable though I want say I am good in translation. I saw the name from your user page and per WP:COMMONSENSE. I will draft it first to AFC and subsequently analyse the notability. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 07:14, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

AFC Champions League 2 move

I'm confused because I was showing Support to move AFC Champions League -2AFC Champions League Two – not to AFC Cup. At first, it was announced as AFC Champions League 2, but was later officially branded as AFC Champions League Two. So the article title should be AFC Champions League Two. That appears to be what the majority are supporting. So why has it gone back to the AFC Cup article name when you moved it? Matilda Maniac (talk) 14:16, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said, It is still waiting at WP:RM/TR. Just wait a while. Thanks for reminding me of redirecting the AFC Champions League -2, I will do that now. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 14:25, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Closing moves

Hi, I reverted your closing of the discussion at Talk:Sudanese civil war (2023–present)#Requested move 26 May 2024, as it was closed improbably. You closed the discussion as "no consensus" which does not represent the discussion. Please refer to Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions#Non-admin closure which states that Anyone, administrator or not, who wishes to close a requested move must be very familiar with the policies and guidelines associated with it (especially Wikipedia:Article titles, Wikipedia:Disambiguation, and Wikipedia:Consensus), and ideally will have participated in several move requests previously.

Your closure of the discussion as "no consensus" does not reflect the discussion that has taken place, I am not sure if that was by accident or not. But your closure looks like a supervote which a discretion reserved for admins but even then, they will explain in details why they reached a certain opinion that is not obvious from the discussion.

How that make sense and I did not close the move discussion as I was involved the discussion, but feel free to go back and close the move properly. FuzzyMagma (talk) 08:46, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That's okay by me. I know no matter which way, a review will still be initiated. Many thanks. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 08:51, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, not necessarily. This one was a dry cut.
In general, maybe it is better to participate more in AfD discussion (although I see you have plenty of experience) and other move discussion before jumping to closing. Tbh I am still not sure why you closed the discussion as no consensus. Maybe you want to elaborate more? FuzzyMagma (talk) 08:58, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) @FuzzyMagma In fact, your revert is not appropriate. When one disagrees with an RM closure, we initiate the Wikipedia:Move review process. You should have indeed asked @SafariScribe to revert themselves stating your reason. — DaxServer (t·m·e·c) 08:59, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DaxServer that is one way to do that, and if @SafariScribe explained here that they believe the closure was not a mistake, I will revert my revert and escalate to Wikipedia:Move review.
Given SafariScribe experience, I am operating under the assumption that the closure was a mistake because it does not make any sense. I mean that is why I am here, to discuss FuzzyMagma (talk) 09:03, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In the future, please do not revert the closures, despite what you assume. Ask the closure to revert and if they disagree we move for a review. — DaxServer (t·m·e·c) 09:06, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ok, noted. @SafariScribe please let me know if you want me to reinstate your edit FuzzyMagma (talk) 09:07, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DaxServer, thank you for the reminder. I thought so when I saw the revert but I have no say because I know @FuzzyMagma will leave a message hence, I could have questioned either. I have had much experience in page moving and closing but this one is just though and with a strong spirit, concluding that it will still be closed near as I do. @FuzzyMagma, DaxServer is correct. Before reverting ones edit which is not obvious vandalism, first know why before reverting and even, before going to WP:MOVEREVIEW. I have no problem reverting my edits like I said earlier, it's just that today is Sunday in mt time zone and who am I not to cheer up. I was sleep deprived but ate a lot this morning. @DaxServer, thank you also. Will both of you want a cookie? Of course I will! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 09:23, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) SafariScribe, Happy Sunday and I hope you’re enjoying your day :). Mistakes have been made (by both of you) but it’s not too late to go for move review. So, do you want FuzzyMagma to revert his reversion and go to move review, or let it be closed by someone else? Vanderwaalforces (talk) 09:42, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Happy Sunday too. Let it be closed by someone else. We've settled that issue. No one is going for a review as the discussion is still open and everybody is cool. The weather is cold to talk much. FuzzyMagma behaved matured enough by fixing it himself. However, there were few mistakes DaxServer has corrected. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 09:46, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SafariScribe, my article Draft:Larry Hushour was rejected on the basis of lacking "reliable sources." I cited a .gov site as well as a few mid-sized official news publications. This is surely one of your interests. I should have earlier informed you but it's never too late. It's a new article which I created and it needs expansion. You would help? (Chat With Term)talk 17:07, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that you draftified this page. The draftification was highly inappropriate. I was, as a matter of fact, already reviewing this and I am sure you're aware of that. I am sure you did not review this article, or you were just hurriedly trying to take it off the NPP queue (and putting it in the AfC queue?). I would have done that if the article was that bad or had serious problems, but I didn't because I thought and still think the few issues are ones that could be fixed right at mainspace without draftifying it. Remember, marking an article as reviewed does not mean you're giving it complete approval, and you must not mark every article you see as reviewed, you could simply leave it for someone else to review. If you're not sure of a reason to take it to articles for deletion, you're not sure of a CSD tag to use and you're not going to ask someone else, then draftifying it will not be the best thing either. Kindly move it back to mainspace as your draftification was inappropriate and wasn't the best thing to do. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 20:52, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to have stepped your toes while you may have been waking the floor (override). First off correction, no one was in haste to remove the article from the queue. To be honest, I actually reviewed the article and I would say it was written well but the sources never supported the article. As you have informed me, it's best you review it as a draft because it has gross sourcing issue. However if you insist, please go ahead and move back the draft. So much sorry for the early inconvenience. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 21:00, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wasim Abu Salem Draft - Questions & help

Hello @SafariScribe,

Thank you for the review, I appreciate all that you do at Wikipedia as an editor, it is people like you that keep it going strong. Regardless of anything I just wanted to mention that.

You mentioned in the comments that the sources in the article might be close to the subject, if you take a look at the sources used, they are almost 100% secondary sources from independent publications:

- One of the sources is Textbook used in high schools all over Israel to teach Arabic, it is taught to 60,000 kids each year as part of their curriculum and has been taught since 2018 covering around 400,000 students to date

- Another source is an article on MSN, a prominent and widely-read site

- A ton of additional sources are legitimate news organizations that have done profiles on this person, see: Mako, The Marker, The Jerusalem Post

The subject has founded a tech-movement that has taught 26,000 students across 3 countries(Israel, USA, UK), I belive Wikipedia is the place for such a person to be highlighted, I look forward to hearing from you. MoMit (talk) 07:27, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Thanks for creating this article. Please note that the "Plot summary" section needs some copy editing for grammar and cohesion. Please do also be careful to write plot summaries entirely in your own words. Even copying just a few sentences from a copyrighted source is a copyright violation.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with Bennv123. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Can you help me understand the rejection better here. Re: reliable sources, this are very legitimate publications I've included. There is more coverage on the man, but I pared it down to the most known, vetted, and credible publications. They verify the content and establish that Rossi is a film director of a significant release. What more can I do?

SinemaBuff (talk) 16:58, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @SinemaBuff, I just happened upon this comment and can give you my 2c as another AfC reviewer: we don't normally have articles on people notable for only one creation unless they are really notable for that one thing (think Harper Lee and To Kill a Mockingbird). For a single creation, we'd usually write a little bit on the article on that work instead. You might want to adapt the two sentences you have at the beginning of "career" to put into Heaven Adores You. But that's from 2014 - he's had a whole decade to make other films. There's really nothing more recent that has also attracted critical attention? -- asilvering (talk) 18:03, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Biographies of academics

Hi there! Thanks for helping out at AfC. I just resubmitted and accepted an academic biography you declined, H. Glenn Penny. When you write a decline comment for this sort of article, could you please avoid suggesting things like remove the primary sources or ones directly connected to the article? It's actually fine to have sources that are directly connected to the subject, so telling someone to remove all of them will really confuse new editors. You're correct that the article didn't have any independent sources, so something like "please add sources that are not connected to the subject" would have been fine. However, for academics who have written a few books, since they're almost certainly notable (as you noted), more helpful would be to explain specifically what is needed, with a comment like "can you please provide citations to academic reviews of the subject's books?"

Even better, you might want to save the submitter some aggravation and just go ahead and add some qualifying reviews yourself so that they meet WP:NAUTHOR and you can accept it. For historians it's usually very easy to find some qualifying reviews with a search on google scholar or jstor, so you don't need to dig very hard or have access to any special databases. This is what I did for that article and it took me less time than it's taken me to write this comment. Easy fix and helps the other editor a lot. -- asilvering (talk) 17:57, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Well written @Asilvering I have gotten the comment and will use it when necessary. Though I have taken a lot of draft up after accepting them because I know they were created by new editors, who may not have understood the guidelines. Thank you for getting it right. I even had planned on adding sources to that article. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 18:26, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey,

I moved this back to draft, partially due to you moving it to main space and immediately redirecting this, as it wasn't clear why this had been done. I actually thought it was a mistake, which was partially why I moved it back!

Personally, I feel this is the worst of both worlds - the user thinks the submission has been accepted but they then wonder why they can't see it, per their post on their talk page either. Plus it makes it much harder for them to improve the article after, as you've taken away the one place they have to work on it!

Personally, AfD wasn't going to add anything here, so I've moved it back. Feel free to restore the redirect (which, IMO, you should have created without moving to mainspace), but this sort of "accept then blank" really doesn't help. Mdann52 (talk) 18:23, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it was confusing accepting and redirecting immediately. I reverted the redirect so that the editor can improve the article further with reminder that another editor can draftify it. The confusion is hat the new editor is confused between an article being accepted and an article being reviewed/patrolled. In a helping hand, I thought redirecting will save the article as obviously there isn't ah source from my digging to maintain a stand alone BLP. Maybe because the creator is a newbie. I understood your actions, and thanks for helping out. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 18:32, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

'Jonathan Demme's unrealized projects' question

Hello, you've recently declined the article submission for Draft:Jonathan Demme's unrealized projects, the reason being that it "does not have sufficient content to require an article of it's own." The reason I have brought up this issue on your talk page is due to the fact that two other articles Ben Affleck's unrealized projects and Francis Lawrence's unrealized projects were today placed in the main space Category:lists of unrealized projects by artist, and I must ask, am I missing something? What do those two pages have that the Demme page doesn't have that warrants their acceptance, and what can I do to change or alter the Demme page so that it could be moved to the main space? Thank you. ZanderAlbatraz1145 (talk) 23:49, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, hope you're doing ok. I have moved the draft to mainspace because you brought it to my desk. I will ask you remove some unreliable sources in the article. Thanks. Ps. Makes sense, thank you. I appreciate you taking the time. Was just curious as to why certain pages get accepted as opposed to others. Also, which sources would you like me to remove? ZanderAlbatraz1145 (talk) 12:53, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined draft

You declined draft:list of grenades for not being supported by enough reliable sources. I guess I'm under the impression that sources for lists like this one come from the individual articles for each entry. WP:LISTVERIFY says that obviously appropriate material doesn't require inline citations and I see similar stuff in most every list under Lists of weapons. Most articles in that list of lists do not cite something for each entry. I want to know if I should go add a citation to everything despite the majority of entries having their own article, or if maybe the few sources I did have from original research aren't trustworthy? SourPieMe (talk) 05:42, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

While WP:MINREF isn't required, a good reliable source per WP:RS at least two or three is required for such non existent list. The sources in the draft is not reliable. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 07:03, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A bit confused.

I wanted to know if you declined the draft Nnamani Music Group because it doesn't have enough content for a stand-alone article or because the references may not be enough. Just curious. 102.88.70.137 (talk) 11:35, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Erika Kobayashi

Hello SafariScribe, I appreciate your feedback on my article, however, I would appreciate some clarification about my sources. Some of them I know are part of the problem, and some I am certain are fine, however, there are a few I am unsure about. I really have no intention of being contentious, I just want to clarify what specifically needs to be changed. I will place my comments on the sources below, numbered as they are in the article, and would appreciate your reply. Thank you for all the work you do contributing to AfC.

Best,

[1] - This source is from her own website, so yea its's a no-go. The information is indisputable, and I can cite it from somewhere else.

[2] - This publication is extremely meh, however, it is an interview. Are interviews not valid sources?

[3] - This is a respectable Japanese language publication focused on news, reviews, and interviews related to Japanese literature. However, it is an interview. Are interviews not valid sources?

[4] - This is from the university she graduated from listing members of her graduating class and their dissertations. This source is fine.

[5] - This is from a museums webpage archive. I'd be surprised if this was a no-go.

[6] - The information is about a publishing house she founded. Source is from it's own website. It seems fine to me for citing the mission of an organization, but I see how this could be bad.

[7] - This is a company's own record of a project she was credited on as an illustrator. I don't see why this is not valid for proof of something the subject did.

[8] - This is a respectable Japanese language publication focused on news, reviews, and interviews related to Japanese literature. Pretty sure this is fine.

[9] - This is a respectable academic institution's blurb about her work. However, because she is associated with it, is this valid?

[10] - This is a book review from a respectable (albeit not very academic) magazine. Is this an issue?

[11] - This is a literary magazine. I'm not sure why this would not be ok to use.

[12] - Yea this source sucks.

[13] - This is a respectable academic institution's blurb about her work. However, because she is associated with it, is this is valid?

[14] - Same source as 11. Esmb17 (talk) 23:38, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Esmb17! I hope SafariScribe won't mind if I jump in and respond to some of your questions. What you are trying to do is to establish your subject is notable in Wikipedia terms, which are not quite like Normal People In The Real World terms, so most likely when you hear 'not reliable sources' what we mean is 'these can't be used as evidence that she's notable' for whatever reason. Since I'm not an AFC reviewer like SafariScribe, I can't answer every question, I'm sorry - but I can get the majority for you.
So a few notes: interviews can't be used as evidence of notability; you can use them in very limited ways, such as if she gave her birthdate or birthplace, things that aren't contentious in any way. Interviews are not independent of the subject, which is a vital component of reliability. Biographies or promotional information from companies she has worked for or currently works for can't be used either because they're also not independent.
4) says she graduated, which you could probably use as evidence that it happened, but it's not enough for notability.
7) does tell us that she was part of the project, but it's not significant coverage (ie the text is not mostly about her, as opposed to the project) and it's not independent (the company employed her), so this can't be used.
8) has a similar problem to 7), in that the text isn't about her, it's about something she created - if you were writing an article about Trinity, Trinity, Trinity, this would probably be great! But you are writing about Kobayashi, so this doesn't help with notability either. (Maybe you do want to think about writing articles about her various works - it seems like her art and writing is reviewed often and with good sources)
10) is also about her writing - there's some tantalizing hints of information about the author, but not enough. 11)/14) has the same problem. None can be used.
13) Yep, you got it - she's associated with the institution, and they're promoting something, so this also can't be used.
I hope this has been of assistance to you, and if SafariScribe disagrees with me please do heed their words over mine - they are far more experienced and probably spent much longer assessing your draft. Best of luck with your draft - and seriously, think about whether you'd be interested in drafting articles about Kobayashi's works, because there's definitely at least a few reliable sources for them. Draft:Oğuz Alper Öktem

Hi, Draft:Oğuz Alper Öktem article declined. I tried with translate from trwiki, but I failed, so I entered it directly. He have a article on trwiki. He have so much references on Türkiye. I kindly ask you to review it again. Kulaklibaykus (talk) 10:40, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I see its s problem of poor translation. Though having many references doesn't make an article notable if it isn't. However I see a clue of being notable, hence my decline ("not reject"). I will help you with the formatting and clear translation. Cheers! @Kulaklibaykus. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 10:48, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again @SafariScribe, I added some new references. Please help for formatting and translation.
I don't have so much information about notable. If you can inform me needs about notable, He can be seen in many areas. TV, talks, news exc. Cheers! :) Kulaklibaykus (talk) 21:49, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Safari:Scribe, you commented, that some areas of my article need more citation. I'd like to do so. Unfortunately I can't see where it makes sense to add more citations, as in my eyes every single part in the article is cited. At the same time, it is said that not reliable sources were used. I cannot recognise any such sources. What are they? Please help. I'd be happy to get some hints from you. Thanks! Musicandarts64 (talk) 15:30, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Musicandarts64,
Your draft wasn't properly sourced with WP:SECONDARYSOURCES, which helps in verifying especially for a WP:BLP. The sources mostly were primarily works of Axel and cannot except in rare cases use to verify some of his achievements. Please remove them and add them to his "publications". If you still need my help, I am open to assist you. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 07:38, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Safari:Scribe. Thanks for your comments, they help me a lot. I have removed almost all of Lange's primary sources und a lot of text except for the short passages that describe in one sentence each what he has published scientifically. Should these also be removed, please let me know. But could the three sentences describing Lange's work in tez chapter "Scientific cntribution" also remain without a source? However, I think that the ratio of primary to secondary resources is now much better than before. -- I have also removed all the reviews published on the back cover of Lange's book, as I assume that these are not reliable sources from Wikipedia either. Please take another look at the draft and tell me if you think I can publish it again. Thank you very much. Musicandarts64 (talk) 11:45, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SafariScribe I have revised the article as you suggested. All primary sources are removed, the article is resubmitted. Please review the article! Thank you.

Hello, SafariScribe! A few hours before you closed the above move request, I had dropped a note at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disambiguation#Requested move at Talk:Ray Brown (Negro leagues pitcher)#Requested move 17 June 2024 to try to get some opinions on WP:INCDAB & WP:PDAB since the editors who were quoting those never said how the move violated them. Editor experience invitation

Hi Safari Scribe :) I'm looking for experienced editors to interview here. Feel free to pass if you're not interested. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 21:58, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can I just point out that this is completely non-standard disambiguation. Bill Jones (Indiana State football coach) would be far more standard and was supported by four of the participants. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:31, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No! The support was for the proposed title and partially for Bill Jones (Indiana State football coach). However I have moved the both articles to Bill Jones (Notre Dame football coach) and Bill Jones (Indiana State football coach) as they are the standard name. Thank you for reminding me. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 12:31, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, Hameltion and myself supported "Indiana State football coach". Crouch, Swale, and Ortizesp supported "American football coach, Indiana State", which frankly mystifies me given they're both experienced editors and presumably know that's not how we title articles. BarrelProof and Roman Spinner supported either depending on which way consensus went. But thank you for moving to the usual format. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:53, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft Article Herman Klynveld declined?

Hi Safari talk. I am a bit confused. I spoke to the previous reviewer who had a look and confirmed that it was correct. He advised me to use English names. I am now confused why these aren't reliable sources? I have included links where you can easily view the books and search the pages where reference is made. Please advise. 197.95.151.153 (talk) 15:18, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Specie vs species

Re the SD you put on an article: Specie in a monetary term. Species is a taxonomic rank, and is both singular and plural. - UtherSRG (talk) 02:00, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My bad. Thank you. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 02:11, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On that same article, you should not have accepted it. We don't have multiple articles for the same species; alternate names and synonyms get mentioned or discussed in the single article. The draft should have been redirect to the existing article and maybe a note given to the author to work there. And don't feel bad... I hadn't noticed either. XD - UtherSRG (talk) 11:46, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The redirect appeared to have been in place based on the page history, but I wasn't aware of it. I accepted it, assuming it would pass AFD at the very least as a redirect. Thanks too, and I noticed that Justlettersandnumbers has restored "the original version." Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 12:11, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, that's how I found out. When accepting over a redirect, it should be our responsibility to check what that redirect is going to. Sometimes it's going to a less-specific article, in which case the accept is correct. In this case, it was going to a synonym, so it wasn't correct. The same author had another draft accepted that should have been a redirect instead, and that's been fixed now, too. I left the user a note about mentioning/discussing synonyms in an existing article instead of creating new articles/drafts.
Note "should be"... cos the typical AFC crowd won't take more responsibility further than "would it pass AFD in a vaccuum". Often times other existing articles are not taken into account when making this determination.
Ah well... it's all good. We're a better encyclopedia today than we were on Monday. And we'll be even better next week... ;) - UtherSRG (talk) 12:18, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I love that spirit. Noted that "it isn't all about AFD". Take care UtherSRG, and a good weekend! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 12:23, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Massif Press

Hi SafariScribe, I notice you reviewed Draft:Massif Press and marked the submission as declined without providing a comment beyond the pro forma response. Could you provide some clarity on that decision? The original submission was previously declined for insufficient sourcing, so I took some time to go through the relevant policies and find additional references. I was pretty confident that the article meets the criteria in terms of having multiple published sources that are in depth/reliable/secondary/independent (for example, Dicebreaker, Rock Paper Shotgun, and Bell of Lost Souls are all pretty significant as far as sources go), so the decline without comment is confusing to me. It would be useful to understand your reasoning so I can make appropriate changes if necessary. Kastark (talk) 07:54, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The decline box shows the reason for not accepting the draft. Unfortunately the sources doesn't meet WP:RS, hence my decline. Some of them that are unreliable include Bell of Lost Souls, Geek Native, itch.io, Goonhammer, and many. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 08:01, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay but what I am asking is why you think the sources don't meet WP:RS, as you've not given any reasoning. The pro forma is not really sufficient or helpful to someone trying to create an article and I'd like to ask you to be more specific. Putting aside for the moment that I disagree that some of the ones you've mentioned are unreliable (these are fairly notable sources within the industry, though I understand you might be personally unfamiliar with them) the reference policy is inclusive, not exclusive. The existence of multiple reliable sources should be enough to confirm notability even if you think others aren't sufficient. So could you be specific about what the problem is? I can't fix it otherwise. Kastark (talk) 08:39, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think I have given you the reason for the decline. It's not all about sources, it's about reliability and verifiability of it. I have been more specific than you think and for now, have to refer you to the help desk. Thanks. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 09:42, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Changes on Calabar Chic

Hello Safari Scribe I noticed your recent edit on the page Calabar Chic, why did you make the revision when some parts of the page have been improved by editors who are participating in the deletion discussion? Ahola .O (talk) 15:05, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, I restored to a more encyclopedic version. It seems you still don't understand WP:RS. @Ahola .O, the sources you added recently are somewhat repetitive and thus, WP:OVERKILL. However, my concern is that you have added many unreliable sources to the article, so I need to remind you of WP:NGRS. Do you understand? Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 20:47, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Do you think the page will be kept? since it is in the same version you reviewed it, can you participate in the deletion discussion? Ahola .O (talk) 21:05, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from andenick on Draft: Department of Economics, The New School

Hi SafariScribe,

Thank you for reviewing my article. I have a question about this article.

What are the unreliable sources you are pointing at?

To my knowledge, all of the sources I am using are publicly available and reputable. Could you give me some commentary as to what you would like refined or removed?

I am going to revise and resubmit the article. Any comments are helpful.

Best,

Nick Anderson Andenick (talk) 21:37, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Andenick, I won't discourage you from resubmitting, but I am concerned it might be declined again. It's uncommon for a department within an institution to have a separate page. Would you consider merging it with the main academic institution's page? Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 21:56, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the quick comment. I hear what you are saying. I am also concerned it might be declined again. I am not interested in contributing to the institution's page - my interests as an economist only focus on the notability of the economics faculty.
I was of the impression that departmental pages were quite normal occurrences. For example:
Oxford Dept of Economics
Princeton Dept of Economics
Cambridge Faculty of Economics
Penn Dept of Economics
MIT Dept of Economics
There are many more examples.
With that in mind, could you give me any more commentary on ways I could ensure that the page is suitable?
Thank you again for your help.

Hi,
I am going to resubmit it in the next few days if you don't reply. I made some changes that I am hopeful make the article considerably more encyclopedic.

Draft: Village Enterprise revision

Hi @SafariScribe,

Thank you for reviewing Draft:Village Enterprise and for your comment! I have gone into the draft and removed most of the primary sources as requested and replaced them with better sources. One thing to note, I did leave one primary source about Village Enterprise's mission statement as I feel that it is important to the Wikipedia page and it has not been published outside of their own primary materials (website, annual report). However, I looked at some other pages and saw that this was common for companies and nonprofits. The following pages have some primary sources — Apple Inc., Facebook, Amazon (company) — as well as other nonprofits similar to Village Enterprise such as One Acre Fund, The BOMA Project, Charity: Water. In fact One Acre Fund and The BOMA Project are citing primary sources multiple times.

If you feel like the primary sourcing of the mission statement should be removed from the Village Enterprise page, I will promptly remove it—just let me know.

Would you be able to review the page again now that these edits have been made? I really appreciate you reviewing the page and providing feedback! BrettSlezak (talk) 20:57, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In as much am not active on Wikipedia to save draft article from speedy deletion. I am also channeling that energy in not active in having your time. I am just writing you for the first time and this might be the last while I let other editors look forward to this. First of all, you protected the article Draft:Speed Darlington in a draft like it can never be improved. I had to overlook your action because I have no COI neither Paid editing to further start fighting over a subject article. You were arguing over the article i created Opay which was nominated for an AFD by @CNMall41. You never accepted to admit because u never wanted to feel unworthy of being a reviewer who accepted the article. You kept on with that energy till it gets to a point @HighKing had to warn you to back off since your opinion has been given but you never gave up. I am from Nigeria and I know people like your behavior especially when your user page says it all that you are also a Nigerian. Just know this that I Gabriel601 can never bow down to what is wrong just like am not on your talk page to ask for help. But to tell the truth. Now you tag the draft article Draft:Chioma Avril Rowland for protection all because it was deleted which i don’t know about but you called it multiple deletion. Has Wikipedia ever offended you or you are just looking for people who are going to worship you all because you were given a reviewer right. I have been here for 7 years. I have other articles accepted by other reviewers. I can also go to request for a right but I don’t see that coming soon because I need to work on myself but that doesn’t mean am a novice but I can say I am not perfect. So in final conclusion. I am advising you do what is right here on Wikipedia because not everyone has the time to start saving articles. Gabriel (talk to me ) 16:15, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, SafariScribe,

I have reverted your closure of this AFD discussion because you can not close an AFD discussion based on a nominator withdrawal if any participants have voted to Delete the article which was true in this case. It's because of this reason that no one had closed the discussion at this time. It might very well be closed as Keep or No consensus but the closure can not be based on the nominator's withdrawal of their nomination statement. Thank you. Liz Read! Reliable Sources

Hi SafariScribe, Thank you for reviewing my article submission for Tobias Dray. It was declined with the feedback: "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources." However, I used references similar to many other Wikipedia pages, such as articles from The Fader, Earmilk or Anime News Network, which I believe are reliable sources. Could you please guide me on how I can properly create this article? Any advice on ensuring my sources meet Wikipedia's criteria for reliability and notability would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. (UTC)Paulanthonylevi (talk) 11:36, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes sorry thank you here it is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Tobias_Dray Paulanthonylevi (talk) 15:57, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Paulanthonylevi, I love your genuine spirit of contributing tirelessly to this project, and I would also like to see you write well and many articles in the future. Articles are first checked of notability before creation, so that you won't get the frustration of seeing your article get declined. Unfortunately "Dray" is not yet notable to have a Wikipedia page because he doesn't meet WP:NMUSICBIO or any of his songs meeting WP:NSONG/WP:NALBUM as the case may be. I also researched myself, only to see advertorial publications, which in Wikipedia, is not a way of accessing one's notability. It's also important you know that "celebrities can be famous but not notable". It seems the case here too. The sources you cited can be analysed here as first source, reads like advert and with promotional tone. Infact, the flaunt magazine is not reliable per WP:RS or at WP:TOI. The second is quite a good source, at least from a reliable newspaper/magazine, The Fader, but the problem is that this particular article was written by a contributor and not staff–otherwise an Op-ed. The third is directly a WP:PRIMARYSOURCE–written promotionally or a self claim–published by a/his record label, Nettwerk Group. The fourth is from an unreliable source, a blog Ones to Watch. The next three [3], [4], and [5] are all from unreliable sources–genius (user generated), and HiphopKR (a blog). Of course I won't repeat the next source from Nettwerk. Then, the last citation from Spotify is totally unreliable, as Spotify is user generated. Anime news network is a reliable source but here, it was copied from a blacklisted website, Kickstarter, a crowdfunding corporation where the subject matter lies. I have analysed the reasons per se, and believe you will write better. Please always ask me on my talk page about a subject and the sources before creating a draft, and I will be willing to give a good feedback as well as assist. Welcome to Wikipedia. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 19:11, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome, thank you so much for this detailed feedback! I truly appreciate the kind words regarding my enthusiasm and spirit. As one of Dray's biggest fans, I genuinely believe he deserves a Wikipedia page for the impact his music has had, despite being an independent artist without the backing of major labels buying press coverage.
I understand your review of the sources in the draft and the notability criteria. I chose sources that I saw cited on other Wikipedia pages, such as those for Lord Apex, Verzache, and Yung Bae, which led me to believe they were acceptable. But I think I'm starting to understand how Wikipedia works, thank you for opening my eyes. Paulanthonylevi (talk) 11:01, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question re: Draft: Net Zero Conference

Hi SafariScribe. Thank you for taking the time to review Draft: Net Zero Conference! I understand it's a smaller conference, but I'm trying to get more information out about sustainability and environmentalism, so I thought it was a notable conference to highlight. It's an annual conference that has been held for 10 years already, so I didn't quite understand your first comment. Would it be possible to give more info about what you meant by it being a single event? Maybe I'm misunderstanding!

Also would it be possible to point out a particular area where it's not in an encyclopedic tone? I tried to edit that out, so I just want to understand what I'm missing. I'm new to writing articles so genuinely looking for any advice you could give. I appreciate your time and thank you in advance for any feedback! Jonasstaff (talk) 17:46, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

• Jonasstaff, this does not look like a reliable, independent, secondary source, and should not be used to verify the claim "largest such conference in the world". Much of your draft is just the program, with keynote speakers and all, and that's not encyclopedic content either; we don't publish catalogs, at least not until secondary sources verify that this is somehow noteworthy. Same goes for the awards. I see very few reliable secondary sources. Metropolis is acceptable, but this article looks like a colorful press release, not a piece of independent journalism, and this also looks like promotion--in fact it's making me rethink how reliable that publication is. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 14:42, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:A Thousand Forests

I believe we put all of the news and all the reliable sources here in the Philippines in the article. Can I resubmit it by removing the independent word on it? Abskiee (talk) 17:29, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I also noticed that there's a lot of articles that don't have enough sources just like Moonlight Serenade (2009 film) and Dancing Village: The Curse Begins etc etc. that didn't move to draft.
Here in Philippines reliable news and source comes with these companies: news.abs-cbn.com, GMA News, Rappler, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Sunstar, The Philippine Star and so many more.
I believe I provided reliable sources and information on the article that I created. Abskiee (talk) 20:26, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Freestyle fixed gear

Hi, you reviewd and declined my article on the sport Draft:Freestyle fixed gear. I had a "external links" section that had links to youtube videos that best explan the tricks, but I removed it because this seems to be a reason the article keeps getting declined. The other academic, library of congress, and US Patent Office citations I believe are still more reliable than nearly any other extreme sport article on wikipedia. The bulk of the news citations are included to give a cultural perspective and to prove the sport is not insignificant. FixedGearFreeStyle (talk) 20:02, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

When you decline a draft submission such as Draft:Battle of York Factory (disambiguation), please include your reasons so that the submitter can understand the problems wih the submission. Sometimes...

... we all fail, me included, to do enough when leaving a simple review. Sometimes, often too late, we realise that more is needed. I think this happens when we feel we are under time pressure, but we are not. Sometimes, when we go the extra mile, an editor chooses to ignore us. Have a look at my talk page for one such example. I am certain he is UPE, but he denies it and I cannot, yet, prove it. We all meet users who challenge us. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 21:13, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh no (Suck-puppet account)

There is something fishy about the creator of the article Afowiri Fondzenyuy which you accepted. I am well sure by now he must be happy of an article accepted which could be a paid job. I have been on this investigation few hours ago when I noticed the article Willie XO. Take a look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/MarkIblog/Archive. @Celestina007 once mentioned the name AfrowriterX who is now inform of Afrowriter. Afrowriter created an account in 2019 same as User:MarkIblog who could be the master of the sock but never made any much edit till 2024. @ST47, @Courcelles and @Spicy confirmed them to be sock but I don’t know if those admins are still active to check on this. So I will be pinging @Bbb23, @Ponyo and @Yamla as well who were involve in the investigation 2020 and decline their request. The sock also disclose they have other accounts while appealing on the talk page User talk:MarkIblog but never disclose those account. I will advise you revert your acceptance on that article as it encourages the sock to create more account while I allow the administrator to do their work. If anyone choose to create that article must have to be coming out with good faith but keeping it encourages the sock even if it’s notable as they have multiple accounts. This user could even be a Nigerian disguising himself in Cameroon form stating he doesn’t get paid due to the encounter issues of his blocked accounts. Also see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Mark Yung Chukwuebuka/Archive confirmed by @Blablubbs. A lot of damages this user has made. I guess I’m good at investigating even if I don’t have the check user right. Cheers. Gabriel (talk to me ) 14:28, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Gabriel601 Paid for real ??? can u also provide evidence to this false accusation ??? the false accusation that I have been paid to write or edit Wikipedia articles, including the specific piece in question and others that I have worked on and expanded. ?? All my contributions to Wikipedia are voluntary. I have not received any payment or compensation for any articles I have written or edited on Wikipedia. My contributions here are driven by this commitment Afrowriter (talk) 15:07, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I never pinged you. So what triggered the notification to bring you into the sock puppet account that was mentioned. The sock puppet account are supposed to be the one receiving the notification such as User:MarkIblog who was mentioned. You are only making things worst and harmful to Wikipedia, giving a clarity view to the admin of why your account could be a sock. You can always send an unblock request to your sock master account. Of course if they find your reason “great” you will definitely be unblocked. Gabriel (talk to me ) 15:41, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
U didnt ping me yes i came on my own good will to thank @SafariScribe for his remark and review on an article i created then i saw this as i was about to drop an appreciation post same way he dropped his on my talkpage .or is there anything wrong ?? in me thanking a fellow editor ? @Gabriel601 Afrowriter (talk) 16:28, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The assertion that I did not make any edits until 2024 is factually correct. My editing history is publicly available on Wikipedia, and it clearly shows contributions prior to 2024.If you are accusing me of inactivity followed by sudden activity, this is certainly usual for most Wikipedia editors who contribute as volunteers. Many editors have periods of inactivity due to personal or professional reasons. Suggesting that a period of inactivity followed by the creation of a new page indicates paid contributions is baseless. Wikipedia's community comprises editors who contribute when they have the time and interest to do so.Your own editing history shows a last edit in 2022 before resuming activity. By your logic, should we also assume you were paid for those contributions? especially on the page Opay This argument highlights the flaw in assuming motives based solely on editing patterns. Afrowriter (talk) 15:26, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I also helped expanded some pages here example sporting lagos can you also say i was paid to edit the page your accusation is pointless Afrowriter (talk) 15:28, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you know sock puppet account also swear with their life of having no multiple account but end up saying the truth after years or months. Any further statement will be use against your master sock account to determine your expiration time for an appeal. Also letting @Dreamy Jazz be aware of this. Gabriel (talk to me ) 15:55, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Gabriel601 please and please provide evidence that i was paid for editing wikipedia. The claim that I have been paid to edit Wikipedia is completely false. There is no evidence to support this accusation, and my editing history is transparent and available for anyone to review. I have made numerous contributions to Wikipedia voluntarily, driven by a genuine interest in sharing knowledge and improving content on the platform. It has been suggested that I am responsible for multiple accounts and that I have been previously blocked for sock puppetry. While I acknowledge that I made edits to the Willie XO page in my early days as a Wikipedia editor, this does not imply paid contributions.I took a long break from editing due to personal reasons and to better understand Wikipedia's policies. Upon my return, I have adhered strictly to these policies and focused on making significant, good-faith contributions to various pages.
Since returning to Wikipedia, I have created and contributed to pages such as Ace Liam, Ballon Music Awards, and Starboy. which where declined and deleted These contributions were made based on my interest in the subjects, not because I was paid to do so. The fact that some of these pages were declined does not indicate that I received money for creating them. It is a normal part of the Wikipedia editing process to have some pages accepted and others declined . Accusing me of being paid for my contributions without any evidence is both unfounded and unfair. Applying inconsistent standards and logic to different editors is unfair. If a period of inactivity followed by editing activity is grounds for suspicion, then many editors would be unfairly accused.
I am committed to Wikipedia's mission of providing free and reliable information. My contributions reflect this commitment, and I have always strived to adhere to Wikipedia’s guidelines and policies.
I urge the community to review my editing history and contributions objectively and to dismiss these baseless accusations. I remain dedicated to continuing my work on Wikipedia in good faith and contributing positively to the platform.
asking me not to defend my self is unacceptable Afrowriter (talk) 16:20, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Afrowriter, AfrowriterX lol Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/MarkIblog/Archive. You were said to be the oldest account. Both your master account User:MarkIblog and your current account are said to be created the same year and same month July 2019. Am gonna let the administrator do their work. Gabriel (talk to me ) 16:42, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
People create articles and accounts everyday here on wikipedia then i think you should tag all those accounts as paid editors and sockpp. anybody can use any name they choose to use same way we have many jon or john here on wikipedia . i still dont get why you pissed or mad at an article that was accepted. i cant keep repeating my self on this topic until you provide evidence that i was paid to edit a page here on wikipedia.
my early days on wikipedia saw me asking different questions on guideline and policies which i took a break from wikipedia to improve and understand it better. lol its still baffles me that you pissed that an acount created out of good will is paid Afrowriter (talk) 16:57, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Gabriel601, unfortunately, I can't process your request of reverting my acceptance of the draft after reviewing it—a part of AFC volunteer work. Also, if you believe @Afrowriter is a sock, there is no need of making baseless accusations, provide Wikipedia:Diffs. Pinging admins is also not necessary, and I would advise you file a report (providing your evidence) in the WP:SPI report. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 19:01, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey this is ThatWikiLover and I wanted to ask you two things, First, do all my sources for my article didn't fit Wikipedia standards or if it was one or more links. Second, do you want me to specifically remove the links and find others to replace them or just remove them? It would be great if you could answer this it would help me a lot. Since I am making articles for topics that may not have many links it is hard to find links but if it is necessary for my article I will make sure I do it properly. Question from Ndmmeyhhsn

My submission was declined on 7 July 2024 by SafariScribe (talk), because "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources". Can you please be more specific as to which sources you consider to be "unreliable", or which facts you feel are not adequately supported? There are countless reliable sources and references given, as well as a listing of 41 published works in print. My submission is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Marc_Tedeschi . Thank you. Ndmmeyhhsn (talk) 23:48, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Ndmmeyhhsn, your draft's references are all unreliable. Remember that it doesn't matter how many sources, which exist for an article say WP:BLP, it is the content, the publisher, and how it informs the audience about the content therein. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 23:59, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Safari Scribe. All 23 sources are unreliable? Really? Major magazines, independent newspapers, and books by major publishers are unreliable? The Library of Congress is unreliable? The Smithsonian Institution is unreliable? Established blogger interviewers are unreliable? Ndmmeyhhsn (talk) 00:13, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If the article in a source is written by a well known subject expert, it can be considered reliable. Accessing your sources, they are far away from meeting the criteria. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 07:20, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Gabriesl601 Keep Accusing me of puppetry And Receiving Money For Editing

@SafariScribe Hello sorry for bothering you trust you are doing fine.

This is the 3rd or 4th time @Gabriel601 is tagging me to this issue first and foremost the claim that my contributions are biased due to my nationality is unfounded and unfair. Wikipedia is a global platform that encourages participation from individuals around the world. My nationality should not disqualify me from contributing to articles about any country. The focus should be on the quality and verifiability of the information I provide, not on my place of origin. secondly The accusation that I have received payment for editing Wikipedia without any evidence is baseless and damaging to my reputation. Wikipedia has clear guidelines against paid editing, and I have adhered to these guidelines. Without concrete evidence, such accusations are speculative and should not be used to undermine my contributions. i have also made contribution to different articles irrespective of it region Balafon Music Awards: The page I created for the Balafon Music Awards was declined. It is essential to understand the reasons behind this decision. Was it due to lack of notability. or are you also going to state that i collected money or payment for editing ??? Same with Ace Liam which was deleted. maybe u can also tag it as paid piece have also worked on different page like Enchanting which i helped expand are you also going to tag as paid piece maybe i collect payment from a dead musician , accusing me of sockpuppet cause i made edit on willieXo few years ago same page i have not revisited or made any contribution aside the ones i made in my early days here on wikipedia is pointless . people create account here everyday with similar names and stuff u should also tag them as sockpuppet account. And now he claims that am not allowed to editing or mixing my editing region cause am from a certain country Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Afrowriter he keeps discouraging my efforts making a fake case for an "attack" i dont understand Afrowriter (talk) 22:54, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Afrowriter, you can choose to ignore certain things if you think you don't need to attend to them. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 16:02, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

You recently declined an article I submitted about Unreal Editor for Fortnite, I addressed your notes, and restructured and rewrote much of the article and then resubmitted. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind taking another look when you get the chance, no rush or stress! What you do is appreciated, and if you don't have time to get to it, then there is no problem with it waiting in line in the queue! Thanks again!

-cw Cwootten13 (talk) 01:56, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I can still see a bit of unreliable sourced content in the draft. I will wait for another reviewer to attend to that. Also note it may skip my mind, and may eventually be accepted/declined if I mistakenly get into it in [sic] the queue. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 16:01, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - the article on John Pringle is not just something to be pointed to Round Hill. He was Jamaica's first tourism director in the new government post independance from British rule as well as having many roles and honors in the Jamaican government even getting featured on a Jamaican stamp - as all described in the draft. The article features all these things beyond his work on round hill. Substantial third party sources from the top Jamaican newspapers & the British telegraph newspaper are included in the citations. Confused by why this is being rejected.

Draft:Camara Kambon SHORTENED and resubmitted

Hi SafariScribe, please re-review the Camara Kambon draft now that it has been shortned and resubmitted. Thank you. All information is and was correct, but now some of the statements have been removed, for less uncertainty.

Draft:Camara Kambon AnamSoul (talk) 00:00, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - you've reviewed this, but are you aware that the article on this topic has been repeatedly created by various WP:UPE sock farms? The drafts as well articles (in the main NS) on this topic have been created multiple times under different titles by various users, but they all were consistently deleted due to apparent WP:UPE and failure to meet GNG, and this one also seems to have been done by a WP:SPA which also indicates WP:UPE. And additionally, I don't see how even this one meets GNG. Could you clarify the basis on which you approved the review of this draft, please?Saqib (talk I contribs) 15:53, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Saqib, I didn't know anything about the draft being created by socks, instead, I saw a move log of 2022 but didn't trace the deletion log. Regardless of that, if you're asking me the basis of how the film meets GNG, then you are misinterpreting the guideline, as the film purely meets WP:NFILM. Are we concerned about the creator or the article itself? Also know that it was scratch and written badly until I edited a few things. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 15:58, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, if you think it doesn't fit being in the main space because it has been long deleted or created by socks, take it to AFD. I bet it will survive. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 16:02, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So if you're not familiar with the backstory here, let me provide some context. Please see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Nauman335, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Taiyabi/Archive and Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Scudo Lives Once/Archive. As you can now see this topic has seen multiple attempts at drafts and articles by different users, all of which were eventually deleted due to WP:UPE. And it's very much clear that this article is another case of WP:UPE, created against Wikipedia's WP:TOU by a newbie and WP:SPA Wahab98 (talk · contribs) so yes I'm concerned about both this very article as well its creator. Besides, the current version of the article even fails to meet the GNG so perhaps could you clarify the criteria under which you believe this topic deserves a stand-alone article? And yes, I'm aware this might be rescued at AFD, not necessarily because the topic merits an article, but possibly due to other reasons, as @S0091, mentioned here Editors are hired to participate at AfDs as well... who bombard it with Keep votes and various poor sources which makes it extremely time consuming. Anyways, I currently don't have the energy to take it to AFD yet so don't worry. P.S. I noticed the page was moved to the main namespace without being submitted for review, which is indeed interesting.Saqib (talk I contribs) 16:26, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is most likely a paid job. But it is a notable topic with multiple genuine reviews in reliable publications, so I have cleaned-up the article and added some reliable references. We want articles on notable topics anyway. 217.165.8.38 (talk) 16:36, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
IP - I'm curious—how did you find this discussion? Care to share? And now I'd like to ping @Ivanvector: and ask them if they believe this page meets WP:G5 if socking is confirmed? It's interesting that IPs began editing the page as soon as it was moved to the main NS.Saqib (talk I contribs) 16:40, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I came to report Syed Fakhar Imam to you because you are mostly active on politics related topics. I found this discussion via your contributions history and improved it. Please see WP:COIN report and if could add something? 217.165.8.38 (talk) 16:54, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
IP - Which WP:COIN report? Just so you know, I usually don't respond to IPs (for some reasons), so I can't promise I'll look into the issue you're raising, but you can give it a shot. I hope SafariScribe won't mind us cluttering their tp so for any matters not related to Umro Ayyar - A New Beginning, please visit my tp.Saqib (talk I contribs) 17:01, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Saqib, you're ignoring the fact that an IP editor is also a human. I understand your esteemed methods of fighting trolls vandalising, and admire that a lot. Here, you are not wrong questioning the acceptance of a draft but you may be when you feel the draft a worked doesn't meet the guideline because it has earlier been vandalised or created by sock puppets. Also, nobody is coming to vote wrongly in the AFD per Wikipedia:Ballot. That's the best thing to do, or you report my acceptance to the AFC help desk. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 17:03, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want to argue over this article. While I respect your judgment as a reviewer, but I still wanted to highlight my viewpoint and state my concerns, so I don't intend to escalate this issue at the AFC help desk either. And trust me, When @S0091, says that editors are hired to participate at AfDs, they have a point. I share a similar opinion, which has made me somewhat disillusioned with AFD process. And regarding your comment that IPs are human too, I agree, but I dislike it when they engage in LOUTSOCK. Isn't this surprising when a random IP seems to know that I'm mostly active on politics related topics and they came here to raise issues about a BLP with me and the same IP joins our one-on-one discussion here related to an article about which I've concerns and also contributes to the same article. This is why I sometimes find it difficult to take IPs seriously.Saqib (talk I contribs) 17:17, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am surprised SafariScribe by you citing WP:Ballot and stating people do not vote wrongly given your participation at WP:Articles for deletion/Justin Jin (entrepreneur) (under your previous name) where not only several UPEs !voted but also closed it as no consensus which would have stood had it not been through the efforts of others. AfD is totally gamed by UPE and only when interested non-UPE editors participate can it be overcome (and it takes multiple) but that's not always the case. S0091, Do you think this article should be labeled with the WP:UPE tag or no? I'm asking because it was created by a sleeper/SPA account Wahab98 (talk · contribs) and has been edited by LOUTSOCKs: 223.123.5.5 and 217.165.8.38. And we might anticipate more activity in the coming days because the article on this topic has been overdue for a while and has attracted attention from various sock farms.Saqib (talk I contribs) 20:45, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Saqib I don't know what the main problem is with you Saqib. I noticed and saw your contribution history that you are Speedy deleting Pakistani articles, mainly related to Media and Entertainment. You are rejecting every article related to Pakistani Entertainment. You are nominating Pakistani actors, drama series, films and more for deletion. It looks like you have a Hired Form for anyone to do this Job. You are doing all the Injustice things. Stop your fake Behavior against Pakistani media related articles. I think you're a Paid editor on Wikipedia. If anyone Paid you, You will accept the article otherwise you Reject them. 223.123.5.5 (talk) 20:58, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@IP - Oh yes, I'm definitely raking in the big bucks for deleting Pakistani articles!Saqib (talk I contribs) 21:09, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@S0091, I wanted to correct Saqib that an AFD closer doesn't count votes, rather the policies cited that are in contact with the appropriate rationale. For example, saying delete: a company article doesn't meet WP:NAUTHOR; this is promptly OP. The nominator can request extended protection of the discussion page. @Saqib, on the other part, tagging UPE on that article doesn't seem appropriate. It has no problem at all since tags are for cleaning up articles. But from looking at the article again, I have no doubt it meets GNG. I think since you have taken not to nominate it, I will go ahead and do that. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 21:05, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Safari, my comment was not about this particular article. I haven't looked at it but simply my surprise by your comment and no, protecting the AfD is not a solution because these not always newbie SPAs which you should know given Justin Jin as all of those accounts were at least AC if not EC and some with perms, including NPP. Also, I am not sure who posted the pic but unless it was Safari, I think we can do without it. S0091 (talk) 21:21, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@S0091 It was me addressing the allegation made by the IP. --— Saqib (talk I contribs) 21:29, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't really necessary. You could have just put it back into draft mode. But as I mentioned, even if I vote to delete, it seems like it will just end up getting rescued anyway.Saqib (talk I contribs) 21:20, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to bother you again, but regarding this draft, it clearly meets WP:NPOL, yet it was declined today. P.S. I wasn't following your AFC reviews. I learned about this from the creator's tp, with whom I was interacting today.Saqib (talk I contribs) 22:14, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a reason why you had to tag an article for notability that you just accepted from the AfC review? Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 08:03, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SafariScribe, Thank you for reviewing my article submission and decline. I have many this to lean from you. It was declined on your thought that there is not much reliable source means like : "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources." However, I used references similar to many other Wikipedia pages, such as film in our country, which I believe are reliable sources. Could you please guide me on how I can properly create this article? Any advice on ensuring my sources meet Wikipedia's criteria for reliability and notability would be greatly appreciated. Because i am confused that my all source are reputed and number 1 news where we say realiable and mainstream news printed portal. And i added most ofvthem that says about the film strongly. I am looking for your kind support to make it live. I do appreciate your step. Alizdirector (talk) 09:06, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Academic Capitalism

I do not agree with the characterization that the references in the article in question were not adequately supported by "reliable sources" The article has eleven references published in peer-reviewed academic journals, and one report was written by a research Johns Hopkins (not reliable?). All sources do mention the theory in the source bodies and support the information in the article. Keep in mind that not every subject is going to have a New York Times or Wash Post article, but this one is most certainly citing 'reliable sources' more than most. In fact, many of these sources are cited on other articles that have been recently approved. The argument for reliable sources is a little bit gray on Wikipedia and it seems to me that many reviews use this template as a quick and easy decline. I would encourage you to actually look at the sites and click on them so that you understand that these are reliable academic sources. Thank you so much for your assistance. Draft:SAMKLEF | Request for Review of Improved Draft

Hi @SafariScribe

I hope this message finds you well. I have made the improvements you suggested to my draft article on SAMKLEF. Here is a brief summary of the changes made:

1. Reliable sources that are independent of the subject

2. More citation to show that the subject Meets WP:NMUSICBIO

I believe these revisions address the points you raised and improve the overall quality of the article. Could you please take a moment to review the updated draft and provide any further feedback or approval for publication?

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Best regards, Afrowriter (talk) 18:27, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have partially reverted your action in rejecting Draft:Planet Coaster 2 because it appears contradictory. You wrote: " I have to reject this without prejudice to accept when there is a line of notability." I am not sure what your intent was, but it appears that this should be a decline. Rejection is with prejudice. The purpose of rejection is to bar resubmission of a draft. If you think that the draft is being submitted too soon, that is a reason to decline it, and to request resubmission when there is significant coverage. @SafariScribe I am attempting to make a page on the first legally recognized invention from space, due to its historical precedent and research significance. It is not a commercial product and I have no financial or social incentive for this beyond my appreciation for the subject. Yet I have submitted twice, each time rejected due to "faulty citations," I'd like to inquire specifics about this. The sources are primary, diverse, unbiased, and independent of the subject, originating from NASA, NatGeo, and the US Government Patent Office. I just cannot grasp why this is continually being denied. Is the patent against the rules? I would appreciate any assistance in putting this through. Gspinty1 (talk

Chris Stark draft

Hi @SafariScribe, my draft article on Chris Stark, the UK's new head of net zero was declined. Which is fine. Before I go and edit though, I'd like to be clear on what the issue was specifically. Grateful if you could give me a steer :-)

Leaving aside Wikipedia's notability and referencing policies for a second, I am assuming that his notability is not objectively in question. He has been named the new UK Labour government's Net Zero czar by the Energy Security Secretary, one of Ed Miliband's first (if not *the* first) appointments since he has come into office. Stark was the subject of an official announcement on GOV.UK. He is one of the UK's leading experts on climate change, and was previously the CEO of the UK government's Climate Change Committee – the UK's main authority on climate change – for 6 years.

If he is not notable, then we need to talk about at least 20% of Wikipedia, who have got past the notability test. For example, how is it different to the article on Tom Delay, who absolutely should have an article on Wikipedia, but whose referencing is very similar. It sometimes feels this rule is not consistently applied (or maybe hasn't been in the past)?

So, to come back to my question, is the issue that the sources were not credible? The Guardian is a tier 1 newspaper, GOV.UK is the government's website, Business Green and Renewable Energy Magazine are credible trade publications, and Carbon Trust and the Climate Change Committee are reputable organisations. I thought this would easily clear the WP:THREE test, but I can accept that:

> Carbon Trust and the Climate Change Committee – though reliable sources in other contexts – might be considered too close to the subject.

> Business Green and Renewable Energy Magazine – though credible trade publications might not be well known outside the sector of energy and sustainability.

If that is the case, this is useful to know. So is it a case of one or two more Guardian-level references? That's ok – there are loads more articles that talk about Stark's work, from the FT, The Guardian, the New Statesman, the BBC. I just don't want to waste my time! :-) KTnow (talk) 13:46, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@SafariScribe Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance! KTnow (talk) 16:43, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Bijon Behari Sarma, and welcome to Wikipedia. I have sent you a welcome note on your talk page. When you want to publish an article, it should first go though the AFC reviewing process, which determines whether your draft is fit to be published to article space. On another note, we don't create draft on user pages like you did, we rather draft it first in the draft space. I hope this solves your problem. There is no need for PDF/DOC, write on your own words, and provide reliable references for it. See the welcome note, and follow the links to learn more. Welcome. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Page mover granted

Hello, SafariScribe. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Elli (talk | contribs) 22:31, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

AfC decline on Wikipedia essay

Hi SafariScribe, thanks your reviewing my AfC Wikipedia:Conduct During Disagreement. However, I'm confused at the justification for the decline. What I wrote is an essay with advice on Wikipedia editing, similar to e.g. WP:EDITDISC. If you review that essay, you will not see any citations of external sources. Is it possible for me to have my essay reviewed by the same standard that WP:EDITDISC was?

Also, I'm not sure if I was supposed to come here or just reply to your decline. Thanks for any advice on what is the most efficient way. Pizpa (talk) 15:12, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think that putting AfC tags on the page may have given the impression that you were trying to publish an Article rather than an internal essay. (that's what the A in AfC stands for). You might use essay instead. -- D'n'B-t -- 16:54, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, SafariScribe,

What's with all of the page moving with this archive talk page? There must have been 5 or 6 page moves here, most of which were probably unnecessary. It left a few broken redirects and orphaned talk pages that I had to clean up. Please think carefully before you move any page, whether article, draft or talk page so that multiple page moves will not be required. Make sure that the page title and namespace are correct before moving a page. It's in the chaos of these multiple page moves that sometimes the actual content can be accidentally deleted so please take more care with any future page moves you do. Thank you. Liz Read! Submission declined without addressing improvements

Greetings, @SafariScribe.

Respectfully, it appears that you declined my previously submitted article, the Draft:El Paso Chamber page, without notifying me or commenting on solutions to previous objections. Each of the objections were discussed extensively on the talk page and then addressed with additional citations from reliable sources, including the New York Times, other newspapers of record, and articles from an academic journal that were focused exclusively on the subject and their activities. There are nine citations from sources on the page, which concerns a 125-year-old organization of historic importance in the largest metropolitan area of a major region in the U.S. I've included historical photographs and multiple links to existing pages on associated persons, events, and related subjects. If you feel that these still remain insufficient, please kindly explain.

Yes, that is a general notice says what it did when the previous reviewer submitted it before on May 30, but simply reattaching it does not address the changes that have been made sense. Those reasons for the decline no longer apply, they have been addressed. If you disagree, then please explain how each of them remains unresolved. Thank you.

(since, not sense) WilliamEHillis (talk) 03:07, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My concerns are primarily with the sourcing in the draft. I couldn't access the contents of the offline citations from Password, and to you, if these sources are accessible, they could help verify certain contents in your draft. If you have them, please send the link or email the content.
Aside from that, your draft has potential but has several flaws that need to be addressed. After thoroughly reading your discussion with Valeree, I decided to decline the draft for the same reasons as Theroadislong. I don't know what to do with this agenda source, and doesn't seem to contain the information about El Paso Chamber. Also the PDF source from The New York Times has nothing to offer that independently and significantly covered the company. Though historical importance is good but it doesn't matter. I also can't see any thing the chamber has done to meet WP:NCORP. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 03:32, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for following up. I am told that past copies of Password are available online to members of the El Paso County Historical Society, but they are behind the firewall and inaccessible to non-members. Printed copies are available at the University of El Paso Library, which is where I read them. WP policy expressly does not discriminate between offline and online sources according to WP:OFFLINE.

As for the Chamber's name, the article is titled according to its current name; but the change of name is addressed twice: in the very first line of the article (The El Paso Chamber ["the Chamber," formerly the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce] ), and then later where the name change is mentioned ("'The organization was rebranded as the 'El Paso Chamber' in 2018.[6])," including citation of the newspaper article announcing the name change.

WilliamEHillis (talk) 03:49, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@WilliamEHillis, Please be careful of the words you may have unintentionally used. Nobody is discriminating b/w online and offline sources. However, I 'd love to see your draft move to mainspace. If you have the copy where you read before citing it in the draft, I will be happy to read, and make some changes before accepting. Thanks. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 15:09, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

RE: "If you have the copy where you read before citing it in the draft, I will be happy to read"

I have offline photographic images of the pages. We are not allowed to publish them as they are the property of The El Paso County Historical Society, but I can post them to you if you will provide contact information. I am not inclined to consider this standard procedure for an offline source, but I am trying to accommodate you and it's the best that I can do.

Question about sources for declined translated page

@SafariScribe Hello there, and thanks for checking out my draft Draft:Sossio_Giametta so promptly. I have the same question as a few other people here - I don't quite understand what more sources would be needed. I used very prestigious and independent Italian newspapers and the Italian BBC. Could you please explain what the problem is? Bravenewworld1984 (talk) 08:27, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dear @Bravenewworld1984,
Having an article about a translator is a not bad, but it's important to remember they are also considered like writers. Your draft appears to lack the sources a possible complete WP:BLP should have, which, as you know, is stricter on the English Wikipedia than on other Wikipedias. Welp, you should also add identifiers for the books, such as the ISBN, Google Books URL, or a citation where he was credited as the translator. These are essential for verification. Cheers. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 15:01, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @SafariScribefor getting back to me so promptly. I have added all ISBNs and inserted Giametta's works as a translator as separate from his authored ones. Also, just a minor note - it's not a bio of a living person but of a dead one as he passed in January this year. Best :-) Bravenewworld1984 (talk) 10:16, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, SafariScribe,

Please raise the bar on what you consider "promotional" editing. If a draft is a straight-forward description of a person or company, it is not necessarily advertising or spam. I have untagged some of your recent taggings because they just read as article drafts, they needed sources, yes, but they were not promotional in any way I could see. Please adjust your guideline on what you see as promotional and just tag drafts and articles that are actually "advertising" which is a better term for what we are trying to remove from the project. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 20:00, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SafariScribe.

I am a frequent user of Wikipedia, and occasional editor to correct small errors.

I am writing my first article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Eiwa_taiyaku_sh%C5%ABchin_jisho

You rejected it.

Please help me make it publishable.

I am a native English speaker, fluent Japanese speaker/reader, and very interested in history of how Industrial Revolution came to Japan.

The new article from NBER cited in my draft article is very interesting. One of the sources it cites is the first Japanese/English dictionary. I wanted to view it, and I was able to find scans, but it took some time. I wish that Wikipedia helped me find it. So I invested a half hour in writing a wikipedia article that would have helped me to find it.

I don't understand exactly why you rejected my article, but happy to listen to your input and try to fix it. Bolaurent (talk) 21:17, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My interest was sparked by the Juhasz article, just published, which points out that Dictionaries and government-sponsored translation of 10,000 technical aticles/books into Japanese helped Japan accomplish its own Industrial Revolution, only fifteen years after the "closed country" policy was forcibly ended by American warships. Hi @SafariScribe! Thanks for reviewing, this is my first Wikipedia article submission so bear with me. Think this meets all necessary criteria for notability, have found other existing pages for films with less of a footprint. Wondering if the issue is overuse of aggregate-style sources? Suggestion on draft improvement

Hello @SafariScribe ,

I hope this message finds you well. I recently came across an artist while watching my favorite morning show on my cable, and after conducting thorough research on the internet, I decided to draft a Wikipedia article about him. I think the artist has received considerable coverage from reliable sources and has a Billboard-charting album and at the same time worked with top chatting musicians.

I have been working on this draft for several weeks, ensuring that it meets Wikipedia's standards for verifiability and notability. However, as this is my first major contribution out of my region on a musical artiste not related to africa, I would greatly appreciate it if you could spare some time to review my draft and provide any feedback or suggestions to improve it.

Here is the link to my draft: Blacc Zacc

Thank you very much for your time and assistance here on wikipedia.

Ok thank you @SafariScribe I am a writer and researcher as stated on my talk page I found AI generated images and stuffs disgusting. in as much other people believe it is an easy way to get things done I still find it disgusting reason be that. Notability Assessment

Tim Sheehy appears to meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for several reasons:

Media Coverage

In the past week alone, there have been at least 8 distinct headlines mentioning Tim Sheehy, indicating significant media coverage. These headlines cover various aspects of his campaign, including his speeches at the Republican National Convention, his fundraising efforts, and his political positions. This level of media attention supports his notability under Wikipedia's guidelines, which consider significant coverage in reliable sources as a key criterion.

Notability Criteria

Wikipedia's notability guidelines for biographies of living persons (WP:BIO) state that a person is presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in reliable, independent sources. Tim Sheehy's media coverage includes:

• MSNBC: Coverage of his statements at the Republican National Convention.
• USA Today: Full speech coverage at the Republican National Convention.
• Montana Free Press: Detailed article on campaign donations.
• Daily Montanan: In-depth interview and analysis.
• Flathead Beacon: Article on his resignation from Bridger Aerospace.
• Wall Street Journal: Coverage of his speech at the RNC.
• KFF Health News: Fact-checking his statements on abortion.
• KTVH: Coverage of his attempts to tie Jon Tester to President Biden.

Achievements and Roles

Tim Sheehy's achievements and roles also contribute to his notability:

• Military Service: Decorated Navy SEAL with a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
• Business Career: Founder of Bridger Aerospace, which went public on the Nasdaq.
• Political Candidacy: Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate in Montana, endorsed by prominent figures like Donald Trump and Steve Daines.

Conclusion

Given the significant media coverage, his notable achievements in both military and business, and his current political candidacy, Tim Sheehy meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Therefore, the draft page for Tim Sheehy should be considered notable under Wikipedia's guidelines. Jbsmitty (talk) 19:19, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Clayton R. Paul is a highly esteemed scientist, highly notable in his scientific field, author of numerous publications and books.

For context: I'm a researcher at the Northeastern University, Network Science Institute. We are working on a project, which aims to understand the differences between Human-curated encyclopedias and Machine-created knowledge. As part of this project we plan to upload 100 articles of notable scientist to Wikipedia in the following weeks. Question on article for creation

Dear SafariScribe, I'd like to ask why my article submission Draft:The Quarterly Journal of Finance has been declined?

I included within it two citations. They are: SCImago which is the standard journal ranking tool and the Midwest financial association. Both of these are independent of the journal itself. Also included in the infobox is the official journal webpage. In fact the SCImago Q2 ranking implies that the articles published by this journal received several thousand academic citations. I looked at other wiki articles (see: Category:Finance journals) for scientific journals and they all look the same.

Thanks for your help, Funcionais. Funcionais (talk) 20:55, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question on reliable sources

@SafariScribe thanks for your quick review of Draft:Fabio Dias. I think my previous writing led you to believe I was putting this as a professor case, when actually this is a WP:SIGCOV case. Can you please confirm why The Jerusalem Post, Jornal Pequeno, Gulf News, Global Banking & Finance Review and Business Insider do not satisfy the criteria of multiple, reliable, secondary and independent sources? These aren’t sponsored posts, this is independent media coverage that has gone through an independent editorial board! Thanks Contributor892z (talk) 22:48, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Here is my source analysis:
• source 1 is a press release
• Source 2 is a promotional content
• Source 3 is good
• Source 4 is a list of former students of the school; isn't independent and a significant coverage
• Source 5 is an WP:INTERVIEW
• Source 6 is tagged with "#Featuredpost", thus promotional
• Source 7 and 8 are not reliable; you can't cite Wikicommons
• Source 9 to 10 were for the company and should reflect his impact, which I can't see. 9 is the article he co-authored
• Source 10 is a press release of the company that is neither independent nor significantly covered
• Source 11 is a promotional piece. Where is then the notability?
Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 22:54, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@SafariScribe thanks for your feedback. I deleted the draft for now while I get more sources. Regarding sources 7 and 8, they are available online directly from the magazine, e.g this one [6] but the full text is under a paywall. Most of the really good references are actually under paywalls. What should I do to use these? Also, regarding source 6, a “featured post” is not a promotional post, is just a front cover post, the two things are different. Hi Safesafari, I saw the message about my article, "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources." Does it need more sources or different sources? Thanks!

Thirdward544 (talk) 22:17, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Thirdward544 (talk page watcher) Generally I would suggest better sources. Also los the boldface, and drop words that are puffery. Any article that passes scrutiny deals with things that are notable. Lose the word, lose any similar words.
Decide if you are writing about the man or the buildings.
For a living person we have a high standard of referencing. Every substantive fact you assert, especially one that is susceptible to potential challenge, requires a citation with a reference that is about them, and is independent of them, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS, and is significant coverage. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact cited, that meet these tough criteria is likely to make this draft a clear acceptance (0.9 probability). Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the person is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 22:28, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for this. I agree.
There do seem to be several requests for assistance on this page from authors whose articles have been declined for 'lack of reliable sources' who are struggling to understand what is wrong with the sources they have already cited. If the aim is to provide actionable feedback in order to allow a draft to be improved, then it would be helpful if authors could receive more pointers. It seems ironic if a finding of 'lack of reliable sources' is itself not substantiated.
I appreciate that the more details a reviewer provides the longer it takes, and that reviewers have to balance the needs of individual authors with the wish to serve many authors by getting through many drafts. Nevertheless I think if a little more information were provided first time around, it would ultimately save time because authors wouldn't need to come back and request clarification. I see that at times you Decline a draft, the creator revises, you Decline again, the creator revises, you Decline again (Draft:Victor Arroyo). While I do not disagree with the weakness of the references in that example, perhaps Wikipedia would be better served if you avoid doing repeats. I suspect that for creating editors, especially those new to Wikipedia, this feels unfair, and that they would be better served with a different reviewer for resubmits. David notMD (talk) 10:14, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

While I appreciate your comment @David notMD, I do like to tell you that the tea house and AFC help desk isn't there for nothing. I started using comments since the decline box doesn't give much for a new editor to know. I will then disagree with "...and that they would be better served with a different reviewer for resubmits.". You are not them, you are presuming, and I doubt it, however it will take them to the appropriate quarter. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 11:24, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@David notMD, I didn't quite understand your comment: "Wikipedia would be better served if you avoid doing repeats." I know you're one of the most dedicated editors, but honestly, such words aren't helpful (for me especially). Are you suggesting I should leave drafts, even if they're pure spam? One thing I've learned in recent months is the importance of encouragement. Reviewing isn't easy, and you know that, but I see your point. @Timtrent can explain better; he's one of my best resources. Theroadislong, 331dot, Jesse, and KylieTastic understand because we're all in this together. Regardless, I appreciate your feedback. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 11:47, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@David notMD (I'm pinging you because I was asked to comment). I'm not in favour of reviewing drafts more than once, because I see it as my duty to sort out egregious errors at the first review. Subsequent submissions I may comment upon but rarely review unless it's an obvious and immediate acceptance.
@SafariScribe It can be difficult when you see partial work done. It's all too tempting to jump in again, and, perhaps, again. I did this when I started. Then I started to understand that too many reviews by the same person, while I meant well, could seem like bullying by the recipient. This is hard for us as reviewers when we see repeated misunderstandings, but it's harder for the submitting editor. Even when asked to re-review I tell the requestor that "Other eyes than mine will get you a better review. I am not too close to it to be of much more help".
It's like when we create articles ourselves. We have to learn to be the new article's father, and let it run free and graze its knees, not to mother it and try to wrap it in warm towels to save it from harm. I let my reviews graze their knees. I do try very hard to answer queries. Sometimes I run into trouble that way if I am overbearing.
I hope that helps you understand my own perspective. If you find it useful, please adopt something similar 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:45, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have chosen to not be a Reviewer, so perhaps overstepped here. I will say that my sympathies are for novice editors who submit drafts, and feel that it is unfair/miunderstood when Declined by the same reviewer, often for the same reason as the first time, i.e., inadequate references, when the concept of what are valid versus invalid references is beyond them. @David notMD I think you made a valid and useful point, but might have phrased it a little differently. We all learn all the time. Yours is a point to learn from.
Reviewing is as tough as we make it, and carries a high burnout risk. If we approach burnout then we review poorly. When we start out, we review as well as we can. When we realise how unimportant we are, then we can do editors who use AFC a service by reviewing usefully. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 22:05, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Darren Jones

Thanks for your recent move and cleanup of Darren Jones (politician). Could I ask you to avoid leaving links of the form Darren Jones? It's a small thing, but I'm on a WP:NOPIPE crusade.

Best wishes, Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 10:29, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jean-de-Nivelle, are you sure am the one? Can I get diffs because I doubt you? Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 11:54, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. For example, here, you changed Darren Jones to Darren Jones, when a better link would be simply Darren Jones. There are many other examples. It's not a big deal, and there's no need to clean them up, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 12:01, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think the script didn't get the command. It was : Post-move cleanup, following swap of Darren Jones (politician) and Darren Jones: Changed link from Darren Jones (politician) to Darren Jones using Move+." Thanks though. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 12:15, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think there are more then enough sufficient references, addressing the subject of the article directly. Furthermore, it is worth noting that the subject has an article in Hebrew. Furthermore, it is worth noting that there are sources that are offline(magazines). I referred to one but I can refer to more. עומר תשבי (talk) 13:10, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Armstead v Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company Ltd

Dear SafariScribe,

Thank you for your very helpful comments/suggestions on this article so far - I think it is much improved. Thank you also for reviewing it so quickly.

Could you please let me know which specific areas of the article require reliable/verifiable sources? I have just reviewed the article and the "Facts", "Previous decisions" and "Judgment" sections are drawn from the Supreme Court decision, do you think that I should make this clearer, perhaps by references to the relevant paragraphs of the Supreme Court decision? The Supreme Court is I think (by reference to the verifiable sources guidance) "reliable, independent with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy" and its judgment is of course a publication (which will be relied on by many lawyers) - but please let me know if this is not right for some reason - as you may have gathered, I am new to Wikipedia articles!

Thanks very much again. All the best, @Tsoko77 Tsoko77 (talk) 15:44, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Angelo_Boffa

Hi SafariScribe,

Could you tell me why my draft for the article Angelo Boffa was declined due to unreliable sources? The same article is already pusblished on the German Wikipedia. The sources are all freely found online. Some of them are in German but that shouldn't make a difference.

Thanks for your answer. Seilerjenny (talk) 11:56, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:DIALux

Hello, thanks a lot for reviewing the dialux draft page and your feedback on improving the page quality. I have now tried to be more precise. Better information is provided with clear references. Some of the details like for example the supported standards of the programm are hard to find. The only source for these is at least the manufacturer homepage. Who else should know these in detail?

There was a disusion on the importance of the topic on the german wikipedia site This could be of help to get an idea how significant the dialux programm is for the work with light. Thanks for your assistance. 2A02:908:1C24:5700:3816:3DE:CFAB:9321 (talk) 09:00, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 09:46:21, 26 July 2024 for assistance on AfC submission by Klighed

Hi, many thanks for reviewing this article. I don't understand the reason it was declined. You have mentioned that claims need to be backed up by reliable sources. I thought that is what I had already done as I have tried to cite well-established national newspapers for historical events; academic journals to verify that the author has written certain works or been appointed editor; university websites to verify an academic appointment; and UK legislation to verify that certain changes were made to UK child protection laws.

Please can you be more specific about which claims you feel are inadequately supported and/or which sources aren't adequately reliable.

Clearly it is not realistic to support every statement made in a BLP – for example articles don't usually provide sources to verify years of birth, and details of an individual's career history are often not backed up by citations – so it's tricky for me as a new author to understand exactly where supporting evidence is required and where it is not. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Draft: Wawa Gatheru

Hi! Thank you again for taking the time to read my Draft: Wawa Gatheru. I was hoping to get more feedback about the notes that the sources are not reliable and that Wawa does not qualify for a Wikipedia article.

In regards to the sources, I tried to make sure to include a wide variety of what I believe are reliable news sources:

Newspapers: Washington Post, LA Times

Magazines: Forbes, Vogue (she has been featured twice), Teen Vogue, British Vogue, Essence, National Geographic, Grist

Reliable News Sources: GBH (which is NPR), WRVO (which is also NPR), WNYC

Well Regarded Nonprofits/Government Sites: National Parks Conservation, EPA

Numerous Colleges: UPenn, UConn, Yale, Williams College, Bryant University

In regards to qualifying for an article, she has won numerous awards for her work and is a leading voice for the Black community in environmentalism. I saw your note about just doing a Black Girl Environmentalist article, but respectfully, most of the articles are about Wawa and her story. She's the driving force behind BGE and most of the articles are about her story and the work she has been doing.

There are numerous other articles about similar climate activists that have been published on Wikipedia and Wawa seems to have received similar or more coverage and have similar or more qualifications for a Wikipedia article. Here are some that I have seen on Wikipedia: Maya Penn, Leah Thomas, Tori Tsui, Nalleli Cobo, Xiye Bastida.

Again, I'm new to writing articles, so I'd love some feedback on what I'm missing and what I need to add to get the article published. Thank you! Jonasstaff (talk) 18:04, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from AcsoGary (19:45, 26 July 2024)

Hello SafariScribe, I am new to Wikipedia but have used it for years. I am the War Memorial Custodian for the village where I work. I would like to create a wikipage about the memorial itself with links to those named on it. I understand that this is a long process and would greatly appreciate any and all help you are able to offer. Kind regards. Gary. --AcsoGary (talk) 19:45, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SafariScribe. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:SafariScribe. The template Paid can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: . If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Blanes tree (talk) 22:15, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There might be some truth in this assumption.
We received spam mails from wikisubmissions.com and idigitalakki.com after our Draft was submitted for reviewing. Both companies wanted to assist us in getting successfully approved.
Coincidence? 212.29.33.164 (talk) 08:10, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@212.29.33.164 I don't know what you may be pointing at, but I have a friend that can break it down, @Timtrent. Fwiw, no reviewer takes prejudice of declining a draft if it merits one according to WP notability guidelines. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 10:55, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
All interested parties should read WP:SCAM, making any reports it suggests
@SafariScribe Despite assumptions that this notice is spurious, we can all expect to be asked the question at some point, and should give a clear and unequivocal answer to it. It matters little who asks it, it needs to be answered. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 11:03, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the clarification. I believe in it.
We should not forget that it is ultimately possible for anyone to evaluate these Pending_AfC_submissions lists and then send spam emails based on the gaterhed information.
There is no reason to say that this was SafariScribe. 212.29.33.164 (talk) 12:04, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. About the draft Draft:Sol Chin, I have supplemented the references and cited reliable sources based on the comments you provided when you declined the draft on July 6th. Thanks so much for reviewing my page! I'd love your help understanding why Antoneta Kusijanovic isn't notable enough for a page – her film Murina is very powerful, and won the top award for a first feature film at Cannes a few years ago. She's also been awarded for multiple other films, and has hundreds of press articles about her and her movies. I've created or edited pages for much less recognized folks (including a number of local DJs and fictional characters) so I'd love some guidance on the types of sources you'd like to see to demonstrate that notability.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Catycherry (talk) 21:08, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Catycherry, there's an WP:UNDUEWEIGHT with your draft. We don't need to know about her directing of Murina. Just tell us any award she has won for directing, any review of her film direction such as styles, themes, etc. Has she directed multiple notable films? I can only see you cite five or thereabout, which isn't enough for WP:NDIRECTOR. Write about her and list the films she has directed as well as maybe few awards of the film that sources recognized her impact. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 06:19, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New draft page review may have missed the sources/references ...

In regard to this new draft page Draft:Ivo_D._Dinov, the actual reliable sources of notability citations are provided but well into the article. Could you please consider rereviewing the content of the draft and confirm if it meets the academic-specific criteria? Here are a pair of conditions that are satisfied (and citations are referenced in the draft article:

According to the 8 wikipedia notability criteria, this draft page for Ivo D. Dinov, an academic satisfies at least 2 of the criteria:
• #3 The person has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association (e.g., a National Academy of Sciences or the Royal Society) or a fellow of a major scholarly society which reserves fellow status as a highly selective honor (e.g., Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers or Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Physics).
The scholar is an honorary member (fellow) of the Sigma Theta Tau International Society, and an elected member (fellow) of the International Statistical Institute (ISI). Both references are provided in the article.
• #5 The person has held a distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education and research, a named chair appointment that indicates a comparable level of achievement, or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon.
The scholar is a named professor and chair, the University of Michigan Henry Philip Tappan Collegiate professor (reference is provided in the article, it self).
