London Buses route 158 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Stratford bus station and Chingford Mount, it is operated by Stagecoach London.

History[edit]

Route 158 commenced operating on 31 January 1981 between Stratford bus station and Chingford Mount via Leyton and Walthamstow.

Upon being put up for tender, the route passed from London Forest to Capital Citybus on 23 November 1991. Route 158 was included in the 8 July 1998 sale of Capital Citybus to First London.[1][2][3]

Upon being re-tendered, route 158 was retained by First London with a new contract commencing on 26 February 2000. When next tendered, it passed to Stagecoach London’s Stratford garage on 5 March 2005, moving to Bow on 29 April 2006, Leyton on 28 November 2009 and West Ham on 25 June 2011.[4]

Stagecoach London successfully tendered to retain the route with a new contract commencing on 3 March 2012.[5]
