Google Earth Engine, through cloud computing, crunches forest images from U.S. and French satellites at shared data centers to help projects designed to protect the world's tropical forests.[1] Google plans to sell access to advanced aspects of the tool in the future to carbon traders, policy makers, and forestry researchers.[1]
