Hello Srikeit! -- Samir 05:10, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

As mentioned in Wikiproject India newsletter of March 2007, the weekly collaboration of the Indian wikiproject has fallen from its once high feats. This message is to request the users to visit the collaboration page and help rejuvenate it.

The present collaboration of the week is Religion in India. Please go through the talk page of the article to see the proposed changes in the article. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 18:47, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Srikeit! Could you, please, tell me why this statement of mine was not included with the rest of the statements here? Was that an oversight, or was there a reason to exclude it? Thanks!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 14:57, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Since there wasn't a specific list of involved parties mentioned, I used my own discretion as a clerk to keep the statements by users whom I felt were more involved in the case on the main page and move the others to the talk page. I assure you I did not have any ulterior motives or mean any disrespect to you or any other editor by doing this. However, if you want that your statement is included on the main page, please inform me and I will do the needful. Thank you --Srikeit 04:18, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply. I, in turn, assure you that I did not suspect any ulterior motives on your part :) I would, however, appreciate it if my statement were included on the main page. Thanks again!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 05:54, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Sockpuppet

Helloou Srikeit. Here is really good case for you. After Ivan's account User:Rts_freak was indefinitely blocked he created another account User:Graciella and tried to camouflage himself editing unrelated articles (IT articles). But his interest was preserved in Alija Izetbegović article: [1], [2] and after a while, when he was caught he started to edit with Graciella account: [3] etc. But the main evidence is that he tried to remove sock puppet tag in User:Graciella page: [4]. Because he was aware that he had been caught. The same behaviour has a long history. This is really sofisticated case, and needs a Check User right, because Ivan is very good actor. First he presented himself as a ethic Bosnian (he is Australian), in order to destroy Bosnian related articles. Now, he pretends to be a woman. So this is really interesting.

Not likely. Not that I am particularly fond of IK, as I was the one who blocked User:Rts_freak, but, just for one thing, Graciella has been editing since 2005. --AnonEMouse (squeak) 17:13, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, I am sure he is the one. Let me explain. When he was earlier blocked by yourself Rts_freak he introduced himself as an ethnic Bosnian and changed his writing style. Now, I think that he borrowed an account from his friend or someone he knows just in the last week, in order to fabricate speculations. He told you that he gave a source, but he didn't tell you that he removed earlier part of the article which contained more complete information. He pretends to be a nice but just look at his edits in AI article. Just look at this example, when I found that this user was him, he made this change: [5] trying to hide his suggestion. Now (this is very important) compare this two edits, by Ivan and by Graciella: In the same project page Ivan wrote: This is one of the IPs I'm talking about in the above section. and few days after that Graciella made exactly the same edit: [6]. They are very familiar with Wiki project pages, they immidiately acted the same way (with a slightly changed style) so this is very good reason to chech the last week contribution and compare IPs.

May I ask why this conversation is going on here? AFAIK I'm completely uninvolved in this situation . Neither am I a checkuser to determine if any sockpuppetry is going on here. The section you're probably looking for is Requests for Checkuser. --Srikeit 17:29, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

RE

Hi, thanks for notifying me of the outcome of my arbcom case.

It's not clear to me what Freedom skies shall select one account and use only that account. Any other account used may be indefinitely banned. Pending selection of an account Freedom skies may not edit Wikipedia. rigidly translates into.

I think it means that I have to choose one account; notify the concerned (who?) that I have chosen that one account; and have to do it in a limited timeframe and may not edit WP till I do that.

Could you tell me where I notify the selection of the one account I use for editing here?

Please help!

IP User 81.149.27.200 and 88.109.215.0 (who are clearly same if you look at their edits) have been repeatedly reverting my good faith edits on Khatri, Malhotra and Luthra. He also accuses me of vandalism.

I will let you judge the two versions yourself. Our diff on Khatri, Our diff on Malhotra, Our diff on Luthra. He also does not explain to me where the peacock claims on Luthra are, instead changing the category from a sourced one to an unsourced one. I think his motivation there is simply because I rvert him on Malhotra. He believes my surname is Luthra without any basis at all. Hopefully admins can judge the two versions. dishant 07:42, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Response to above claim

On the contrary dishant has been Petty stalking my edits and vandalising my and other users entries after his peacock claims about the Luthra family were reverted.

This claim to you appears in retaliation for my being one of four users having supported a Delete case for removal of an entry for an un noteworthy person Ankur Luthra [7] by administrator Xoloz. The article was subsequently removed by Wikipedia.

Dishant55555 vandalism goes back to March after my Correcting his Vanity claims about Luthra. You can see on this link he has made unsourced vanity claims including -

  • "Many Luthra's are extremely successful in terms of business."
  • "The Gupta Dynasty assumed control of Northern India in 400 CE, and the Luthras joined forces with the Guptas to maintain law and order in what became India's Golden Age."
  • Luthras held prominent positions as rulers and warriors.

and adding alleged prominent people with the surname Luthra who do not meet wikipedia guidelines for prominence.

He has since been stalking and vandalising Malhotra, Khatri, Kapoor etc pages by users who have changed his edits to NPOV ones. See his vandalism of the Malhotra page for example where he has removed dozens of lines of entries with authoritative sources such as links to Indian government websites. He has vandalised the Malhotra page again today though I see another user has reverted his edit.

Could dishant please be blocked from doing so. He has already received warnings to stop. Many thanks.

The IP user is mincing facts. The versions that he brings up are long gone and I no longer condone them. Look at the current versions for which he is reverting me for and then make your own decision. dishant 00:09, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

I see you saw fit to delete the page relating to the legendary, now retired model, Andrea Neal on the grounds of notability. This is a travesty, she is probably one of the three most famous models in her field, has appeared in numerous films and shoots, and also won several awards. Would you consider any pornographic model/actress non-notable? Possibly because it is not something of interest to yourself?82.153.138.12 14:11, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

GAC backlog elimination drive

This form message is being sent to you either due to your membership with WikiProject Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. A new drive has been started requesting that all members review at least one article (or more, if you wish!) within the next two weeks at GAC to help in removing the large backlog. This message is being sent to all members, and even members who have been recently reviewing articles. There are almost 130 members in this project and about 180 articles that currently need to be reviewed. If each member helps to review just one or two articles, the majority of the backlog will be cleared. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the GAC talk page. --Nehrams2020 00:01, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Lists of people by name

I'm not sure if you realize this, but the list of people by name article has something like 1400 subpages. Does your DRV closure encompass these? --- RockMFR 04:16, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Yes, all the subpages are covered under the close. I realised that after the closure and was trying to figure out the best way to go about it when I received your message. I requested Eagle_101 to help me out and he has graciously accepted to help me out using a script. --Srikeit 04:40, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
You're carrying a huge load of responsibility now. In your closure, you have failed to address the concerns of all those, including myself, who were against deletion without any replacement. Various suggestions have been made for that, but it seems no measures have been taken. Could you comment on that, please? All the best, <KF> 09:48, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
I don't believe that it is my responsibility to clarify and counter each and every argument in a discussion before closing. I considered the arguments offered, determined the consensus achieved in both the former AFD and the DRV, used the discretion I have been afforded as an admin and made the call, which seems to have been accepted as fair by most (as indicated by the lack of complaints here). However if this close seems grossly unfair or irresponsible on my part, please feel free to start up a discussion about it on WP:ANI or any other avenue suitable to you and if you can garner enough support for your cause, do bring it back to DRV. In the meantime, I stand by my decision. Thanks --Srikeit 10:19, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
It would be awful, wouldn't it, if you as an admin didn't stand by your decision, so I didn't expect anything else. I'm talking about an altogether different thing here, as the inevitability of this bulk of information being eventually deleted was clear to me (although, personally, I don't see any consensus anywhere). No, I'm talking about an alternative to the c.1,400 pages that are now lost. Their removal has orphaned what may well be hundreds of biographical stubs, and the next step might be their being tagged for deletion by an insensitive bot.
Carcharoth has made a suggestion (at the end of Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/List of people by name) what could be done to counter this, and my (and other people's) humble idea was to "projectify" all those pages in the way it was done with User:Black Falcon/Sandbox/List of German actors (from 1895 to the present) or Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/List of literary works with eponymous heroines. That's what you haven't addressed in your closure, and I just want to know what you think about it. Best wishes, <KF> 10:50, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Carcharoth's was an interesting suggestion but even after a dual listing at AFD/MFD and a complete DRV discussion it did not gain any substantial consensus nor did it provoke any discussion elsewhere. However the consensus to delete the pages was quite clear with substantiated reasons in both the discussions so I based my decision on it. As for the loss of information, I request you to look at WP:EFFORT. Anyway, I don't think my talk page is the best forum for drawing attention to the matter. Please go to WP:ANI if you want a more thorough discussion about this. Thanks --Srikeit 11:43, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

And I've added my thoughts there. I hope you will be able to respond there as I somehow managed to miss the DRV completely! :-( Thanks. Carcharoth 14:34, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Tiny DRV procedural note

On the rare occasions when DRV results in an outright reversal to delete (without relisting), I usually annotate the original XfD, so that people won't be confused by the record. I did so on your behalf here. Best wishes, Xoloz 15:13, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

PS. Isn't closing DRVs <sarcasm> so much fun?<sarcasm> It's a certainty that someone will really dislike almost everything you do! ;) Don't let it depress you.

Thanks for the note. I'm rather new to DRV closing so am still on a learning curve. However, this is fun! I wonder if I can be classified as insane now? ;) --Srikeit 15:23, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi Srikeit, i am trying to edit Imran Khan but I cannot do it because of protection. The article is hopelessly out-dated and unstructured. On your DRV closure

You are aware that deletion reviews are to be closed based on strength of argument, right? You realize you closed it for people who had none, correct? How did you come to this conclusion? Keep in mind - "Wikipedia is not Wikinews" is not a reason for speedy deletion, and is not a reason for one person to make a decision, either. You should reconsider this immediately. --badlydrawnjeff talk 05:03, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

I strongly endorse Srikeit's actions. Wikipedia is not a newspaper, and as the largest source of information on the internet, we have some responsibilities to the subjects of our articles. Their lives do get affected by the way they are potrayed here. We have responsibilities. Do no harm, that is what BLP means. Will the victims of a forgettable and despicable crime like this be still known after 10 years? Did they appear on Oprah to gain notability? On a contrary note, they came around to let the society know about the evil that lurks in the hearts of men, and how the guardians of children should protect them. Providing literary and permanent notability would be a great disservice to the young boys and to the society as a whole. On the whole, by wonking process, you are the one doing great disservice to the community. The delete arguments held much more weight than constant reminders that this article should have gone through an AfD atleast. It was more than likely that a responsible administrator would have chosen to close the DRV as a delete and salt. — Nearly Headless Nick {C} 06:06, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Sir Nick for the endorsement above. To Jeff, I did not base my closure solely on "Wikipedia is not WikiNews". It was one of the key statements that influenced it. There were umpteen reasonable arguments endorsing the closure (like the one above by Nick) in the entire 93kb discussion including two highly detailed and cogent statements by NYB. I went through the entire discussion several times, considered the weight of each argument, gauged the consensus and made a judgment call using the discretion afforded to me as an admin. If you feel that my decision is despicable and callous, feel free to bring this up in the arbitration case you have running. I, however, don't think I'll be reconsidering my close. Thanks --Srikeit 08:54, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
I may have to. The closure was not based in policy or argument. That's problematic. I don't see any evidence of weight consideration, for instance, as you seem to have been adversely affected by the false BLP claims. --badlydrawnjeff talk 13:46, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
It's a little strange that my "problematic" closure which was "not based in policy or argument" has received no opposition except yours. Instead the closure has had wide acceptance and endorsements (including three right here) from several respected members of the community. You may very well take this matter to ArbCom, but if you may, do pause and reflect upon this eloquent Alexander Pope quote. Thanks --Srikeit 04:12, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Just wanted to add that I strongly endorse your closure as well. Had I closed it I would have done the exact same thing...--Isotope23 13:38, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of entries for Charlene Downes/Gavin Hopley

I have concerns over your deletion of the entries on Charlene Downes and Gavin Hopley. You appear to have been swayed by a number of contributors (such as 'Guy', 'Doc', and 'One Night in Hackney') that have appeared in deletion debates for several similar entries (concerning white victims of racially motivated killings), all of whom have made extremely similar comments in each case decrying the entries being at all 'noteworthy', in spite of the racial aspect in the case of Gavin Hopley's murder (at least as notable as the racial aspect in the case of Anthony Walker's murder, said aspect being why a Wikipedia entry is maintained on that murder).

Also in spite of the several remarkable aspects of the case of Charlene Downes' murder, beyond the racial aspect of that case, when you consider the accounts of her having underage sex with her suspected killer and people around him, as well as the police investigating the possibility that her body may have been cut up and sold as meat to customers of a takeaway run by her suspected killer, that comments made by these contributors I refer to describing the above as 'not worthy of note' are specious and likely insufficient grounds for deletion. As you seem to feel differently may I ask you why you found the comments in favour of deletion compelling enough to proceed to delete the entries in question. It certainly seems as if you did not apply any critical judgment to the comments made by the people who wanted the entries gone, even when the outlandishness of the comments made in the Charlene Downes entry must have been readily apparent to others, not least the contributors who voted in favour of keeping the entry.

The impression I get is that these contributors seem to have been following a specific agenda of promoting the deletion of these kind of entries, as illustrated by the insistence of some of the particular contributors that the entries served only to further a 'far-right' agenda, comments which indicate the request to delete was itself motivated by a partisan bias and not a wish to adhere to the spirit of neutrality, which to my mind goes against the NPOV policy adhered to by Wikipedia, as does the deletion of the noted entries which unfortunately seems to be a deeply partisan act. I would further note that IMO the deletion may have been influenced by the fact that racial violent crime where white people are the victims in toto is a matter of some controversy, amongst the left and right.

What is especially noteworthy is that the deletion debate concerning the Charlene Downes entry was itself deleted, which is if you will forgive me for saying so, highly suspicious. Again, this comes down to the comments made in favour of deletion, the possible concern being that viewers of Wikipedia would raise questions as to why those comments were allowed to 'carry the day' as it were when they plainly were either repeated from other deletion debates or else sought to deny the noteworthy status of the case itself, rather explicitly in the case of some commentators. I have a copy of that vanished deletion debate saved to my PC and would be able to discuss particular comments with you, with regards to this matter.

The Happy Rampager 22:00, 20 June 2007 (GMT)

I'd just like to add that I am in agreement with the comment above. The Charlene Downes entry should not have been deleted; there is good reason to suspect political motivation behind its deletion. How does one go about reinstating or calling for reinstatement of an article which has been deleted inappropriately?81.102.143.96 11:06, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Srikeit, are you going to do The Happy Rampager the courtesy of replying to his particularly cogent post? I would agree that there are at least some tenuous grounds for arguing that, currently at least, an article devoted to "Charlene Downes" fails the notability test, although in my view the strong and now largely accepted suspicion that she was given the Sweeney Todd treatment by her murderer makes this a particularly remarkable, indeed noteworthy case. Equally a case can be made for the notability of victim Anthony Walker, not so much on the grounds of being murdered. With all respect and sympathy to his bereaved parents, a black lad getting an axe put through his had by some random white racist is tragic and newsworthy, but hardly encyclopaedically notable. What makes Anthony Walker's case notable is the popular hysteria, almost Diana-like in intensity, fomented by the media, leading to such sickening events as what was tantamount to a state funeral service.

I agree with Rampager that those baying for the deletion of this and similar articles about "black-on-white" racist murders give the impression of being a posse of left-wing propagandists; may be some of them are even sockpuppets. Do you always give in the shouting of the rabid mob rather than listening to and weighing the value of arguments?

But what I particularly want to an answer to, and what frankly stinks about your handling of the case, is your decision to courtesy-blank the AfD discussion page, as "a courtesy to the surviving relatives". Really? I wonder if Karen Downes is aware of the existence of Wikipedia, or is even an Internet user. Have you asked her or those around her, perchance? And, if such a consideration applies in this case, should not the same courtesy be extended to the undoubtedly equally traumatized parents of the late Anthony Walker? Should not then both the article and the talk page and every other Wikipedia reference to this unfortunate young man be removed forthwith to spare the feelings of Anthony's "surviving relatives"?

You seem either to display a level of political bias unseemly in an Administrator, or an equally unacceptable willingness to give in to the rantings of a claque of politically biased agitators with a "no-platform" agenda.

Edwin Greenwood 14:38, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Why hasn't Srikeit answered any of the above concerns and how do we file an official complaint against this "administrator"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.237.124.6 (talk) 23:19, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Deletion Review: Brian Crecente

You made some changes to the Deletion Review Log for June, 6 2007 and in the process the outcome of the discussion regarding the above referenced article was removed from the log. I don't know if that's the proper way of handling a re-listed AfD or not. If not, could you please add the information back. I would, but (1) don't know if it's proper (per my question above) and (2) am likely to muck it up since another change has occurred after yours. Thanks. Drew30319 00:05, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

July 2007 GAC backlog elimination drive

A new elimination drive of the backlog at Wikipedia:Good article candidates will take place from the month of July through August 12, 2007. There are currently about 130 articles that need to be reviewed right now. If you are interested in helping with the drive, then please visit Wikipedia:Good article candidates backlog elimination drive and record the articles that you have reviewed. Awards will be given based on the number of reviews completed. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the drive's talk page. Please help to eradicate the backlog to cut down on the waiting time for articles to be reviewed.

You have received this message either due to your membership with WikiProject: Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. --Nehrams2020 23:45, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

compendex

Good day Srikeit,

I don't want to trouble you, but I was wondering if you could give me a little info about Compendex -- it was prod'ed then deleted in Nov. 2006 (you were the deleting admin). I'm wondering what the reason giving for prodding was, since this was one of my articles, and I'm pretty familiar with content standards :) Don't worry, I'm not upset, but I have a handful of other similar database articles that I watch or have created (e.g. inspec) and Compendex shouldn't be any different from these. I just want to check, since I wasn't notified and I would like to recreate the article, at least as a redirect. Thanks for your help, -- phoebe/(talk) 19:18, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 15:34, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

User:Asdfg12345 is edit warring on this article, and has gone well over the 3 revert rule. Please take a look if you get time. ʄ!¿talk? 14:45, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Asdfg12345 reverted parts of my edits as well as Fennessy's, and has indeed gone over the 3RR. But I strongly discourage admin intervention at this moment. I am making active attempts to discuss with the user and the user, albeit displaying incorrect behavior, does not seem to be hopeless. I don't believe 3RR bans will solve the problem at all. Thanks. Modernista! Page Deletion

Hi Srikeit,

Could you please revisit your deletion of Modernista! on 14:06, 20 March 2008? You cited "content was Real person; doesn't indicate importance/significance" for your reason. I don't believe either of these are true. Modernista! is not a real person. It is an advertising agency that is among the top 60 ad agencies in the U.S. and top 20 independent ad agencies worldwide (as of 2007 according to AdvertisingAge [9]), and its significance and importance is evident in that is the agency of record for automakers HUMMER and Cadillac. Further points of significance were described in a "Notable Work" section. Do a Google or Google News search and you will find dozens of references to the significance of the company from highly reputable sources. Heck, there is still a Wikipedia entry for the U2 Window in the Skies video Modernista! created.

The company has come under the scrutiny of the Wikipedia community recently due to prominent linking to Wikipedia from its new website. This is the reason for the large amount of vandalism activity over the past few weeks. There may be some portions of the article that do not belong on Wikipedia, but the agency is certainly important enough to have an entry and join the rest of the American advertising agencies with Wikipedia entries.

Thanks for your consideration. Strixiformes (talk) 15:04, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Osli73

I made the following posting on the Administrators Noticeboard.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents#Osli73_violating_parole.2C_repeat_violator

Fairview360 (talk) 05:29, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

User Osli73 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Osli73 has a history of willfully violating probations including the use of sockpuppets on articles related to the former Yugoslavia.

One can see at the bottom of this arbitration webpage that he has been blocked repeatedly for willfully violating sanctions placed against his edit warring and sockpuppetry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Kosovo#Involved_parties

For example:

Blocked Osli73 (talk · contribs) 3 months per 1 month tthis AE post. Please note this is Osli's fourth block. --wL<speak·check> 07:40, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Blocked Osli73 (talk · contribs) for 2 weeks for breaking the revert limit on Srebrenica massacre; also banned from editing Srebrenica massacre for 3 months. Thatcher131 02:27, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Blocked Osli73 (talk · contribs) for two weeks for directly violating his probation and revert parole at Srebrenica massacre. --Jayjg (talk) 01:52, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Blocked Osli73 (talk · contribs) for one week for directly violating his probation and revert parole by using a sockpuppet to edit war at Srebrenica massacre. --Srikeit 10:06, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Blocked KarlXII (talk · contribs) indefinitely as a sockpuppet of Osli73 (talk · contribs) proven by checkuser. --Srikeit 10:06, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

On March 19, 2008, Osli73 received the following probation from administrator Thatcher explicitly forbidding Osli73 from more than one revert per week on the Bosnian Mujahideen and Mujahideen article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosnian_Mujahadin , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mujahideen

Your topic ban is lifted and replaced with a revert parole. You may edit Bosnian mujahideen and Mujahideen but for one month (from 17 March) you are limited to one revert per article per week. Obvious vandalism is excepted from the revert limit, but you should take care in distinguishing true vandalism from content disputes. You are permitted to revert the edits of banned users such as Grandy Grandy/The Dragon of Bosnia but you should be extremely careful in doing so, because if it turns out the editor you are reverting is not a sockpuppet of the banned user you will have violated the revert limit. It would be better to report suspected sockpuppets to WP:AE or WP:RFCU. Thatcher 14:05, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

see user Osli73 talk page for the above probation notice: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Osli73

Despite the explicit probation against more than one revert per week on the Bosnian Mujahideen and Mujahideen articles, user Osli73 has again engaged in edit warring, reverting the Bosnian mujahideen and Mujahideen articles repeatedly, for example Osli made the following 8 reverts to the Bosnian Mujahideen and Mujahideen articles from April 8 to April 14: diffs:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bosnian_mujahideen&diff=prev&oldid=205563168

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mujahideen&diff=prev&oldid=205562519

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mujahideen&diff=prev&oldid=205439461

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bosnian_mujahideen&diff=prev&oldid=205437228

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bosnian_mujahideen&diff=prev&oldid=205144618

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mujahideen&diff=prev&oldid=204899529

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mujahideen&diff=prev&oldid=204888935

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bosnian_mujahideen&diff=prev&oldid=204184557

From his statements, Osli73 has shown that he fully understands the restrictions placed upon him. From his actions, he has shown that he is not willing to abide by those restrictions.

I am notifying the administrators that have sanctioned Osli73 in the past as well as notifying Osli73 of this posting. Especially with articles involving the former Yugoslavia, it is imperative that users respect the limits placed upon their editing. If the more vitriolic editors involved in former Yugoslavia articles see that Osli73 is not held accountable for his his transgressions, then there is greater likelihood of out-of-control edit warring as there has been in the past. Fairview360 (talk) 05:22, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Sockpuppet?

On 18 December 2006, Srikeit (talk · contribs) blocked Osli73 with an expiry time of 1 week because of sockpuppeteering and directly violating his arbcom probation and revert parole in Srebrenica massacre.

I think Osli created another account Jonathanmills (talk · contribs) in order to edit Srebrenica massacre:

Srebrenica massacre

If you search through his edits you will realise that both of them edited Konjic article (?!) It is impossible that they are both interested in Konjic village in Herzegovina ?! Osli allegedly from Sweden, and Jonathanmills from England, both interested in a village in a country that most people never heard of ?!

Konjic

Due to the fact that it has already been proven Osli was a sockpuppeteer in Srebrenica massacre article, this is a good reason to ask for another check user. They even have the same greetings, it is enough to look at the talk pages.

WikiProject India Newsletter Volume III, Issue no. 001 - June 2008

Project News
  • Tag & Assess 2008, an assessment drive initiated by the assessment department began on June 7, 2008 and will be running until July 2008. Many Wikipedians have started contributing to this mammoth task. This housekeeping activity will help manage articles in better way. You can also get involved!
  • Bot Assisted Assessment was successfully done using Bot0612 in May 2008. 1744 articles (18.5%) of all India unassessed articles were marked if they had been assessed by some other project.
  • What's Featured and Good?
  • IPL was hot on Wikipedia too!!! During the tournament, the article was among the most frequently edited articles. It is currently the only Indian article in top 100, occupying 58th spot.
  • Do you know of an article that is currently underrated? If so, please nominate the article at the Assessment Department's request for assessment. This will allow our project to get a better idea of the quality of our articles.

Regarding Kozhikode Pronunciation

Hey, tiny clarification regarding the ogg file pronunciation of "Kozhikode" that you've created. The 'zh' sounds in Malayalam are usually "rya" or "la"... And not as you've pronounced

So it should be pronounced as "Ko'rya'kode", " Ko'ryee' kode ", or "KoLikode"...

Just dig up some info on this, and change the file. Logik 08:24, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Clue to Kalo article

19 November 2006 you deleted an article on "Clue to Kalo". The reason given is "expired prod". I presume that the article was about the Australian band of that name. Their recently released album was reviewed (favorably) by Billboard. Would you have additional information on why the article was deleted? And would you see a problem with my posting a replacement article? Thanks. Kindofdavish (talk) 04:54, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Devendra Prabhudesai

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Devendra Prabhudesai, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No major notability established; no citations or reliable sources

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. seicer | talk | contribs 03:41, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Respect

Always nice to see editors who are happy to see articles saved if notability can be established. Cheers. ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:24, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

GA Sweeps invitation

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are a member of the GA WikiProject. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.

We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 08:46, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Could you re-record this file with the correct pronunciation please? It's actually pronounced "vayloor" ("vay-loor"). The pronunciation "vell-lore" is how the British pronounced it pre-1947, similar to the Bengalooru/Bangalore difference. Unlike Bangalore however, which is internationally known by its English pronunciation, Vellore is obscure enough that nearly everyone who uses the English pronunciation is corrected and asked to use the Tamil pronunciation. If you prefer not changing the file for any reason, please record a file like File:Vellore-Tamil.ogg, similar to what's used in the Bangalore article. -- Brhaspati\talk/contribs 14:55, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
