Salar Kamangar (born 1976, Tehran)[2][3] is an Iranian-American and one of the earliest employees of Google Inc.

Early childhood and education

Salar Kamangar was born in in Tehran, Iran. He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences with honors from Stanford University and was the 9th employee to join Google. He joined after graduating from Stanford in 1998.

Persian heritage

Salar Kamangar is the former president and current member of Meadowood Social Venture Fund of PARSA Community Foundation,[4] a Persian heritage, entrepreneurship and philanthropic society.In an interview with the Stanford University Persian Student Association, he stated that he is deeply grateful to the organization for the positive impact it has made on his undergraduate years and through PSA-sponsored initiatives he has developed a greater appreciation for his Persian heritage.[5]

Google

Salar Kamangar replaced Chad Hurley as head of YouTube.[6][7]

Prior to that, Kamangar created the company's first business plan and was responsible for its legal and finance functions. From there, he became a founding member of Google's product team, where he worked on consumer projects including the acquisition of DejaNews and the subsequent launch of Google Groups. Before taking over responsibilities of Head of YouTube, he was Vice President of Google's Web Applications.
