Wikipedia:Sheynhertz-Unbayg cleanup
This page is currently inactive and is retained for historical reference. Either the page is no longer relevant or consensus on its purpose has become unclear. To revive discussion, seek broader input via a forum such as the village pump. |
The purpose of this page is to coordinate the cleanup of pages created and edited by Sheynhertz-Unbayg (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). The scope of the problem is large. A significant fraction of the articles he edited are in obvious need of some work, not including expansion, and he made about 20,000 edits.

Problems
[edit]- pseudo-disambiguation pages Done
Most prominent are the last name pseudo-disambiguation articles, which have onomastic information and last names included on them that no one could possibly confuse with each other. For example, Baumstein redirected unnecessarily to Baum. These articles are not disambiguation pages at all when they include onomastics and/or lists of people that share the surname but are not commonly known by the surname alone; these articles should not carry disambiguation tags. Inordinate amounts of red links should be trimmed, including all of those that carry no descriptors.
- extremely short articles
Another problem is that he created many extremely short articles, usually consisting of a single sentence of regular text. On some of these articles, he put in lists full of red links. A common occurrence is extremely short articles on places with a list of people that lived there. Other times, the article is about a person and the very brief text is followed by a list of works, such as with Richard von Schaukal. See Wikipedia:SU/Other for a list of his created articles that still need work.
- links to last names
Another problem is that on articles for people, he placed a link to the person's last name, and often a couple of similar last names, at the top of the article. These should all be removed.
- Articles in translation Done
Another problem is that Category:Articles in translation is full of articles that were added to the category by him. Pages are added to the category through the use of a template that requests that no one edit the article while it is being translated. The notices placed by him should be removed, since he is not coming back. If someone wants to do additional translation, they can replace the notice.
- interwiki links
Please check all interwiki links on pages created by this editor. Many of his pages have links to nonexistent articles on the Japanese and other Wikipedias, which should be removed.
- Onomastics Done
Articles listed as "Name (onomastics)" should be moved to "Name" or "Name (disambiguation)". If the article only contains information about a surname and a list of people with that surname, and "Name" is already a disambiguation page, then move to "Name (surname)" instead. Articles should be removed from Category:Onomastics once they are converted to regular disambiguation pages.
Articles
[edit]SU created over 1500 articles. Those not involving surnames generally fall into two categories: stubs and longer articles that he copy-pasted from old public domain encyclopedias. The majority of the articles he created have been cleaned up by other users. The following still need to be cleaned up or deleted.
This page does not include articles created under sockpuppet accounts, most of which also need cleanup.
Stubs
[edit]Reviewed
[edit]All articles in this section have been reviewed for working interwiki links and very poor style issues. Really bad articles that did not have interwiki links, incoming links or (working or English-lanugage) external links are bolded to be re-reviewed again later for notability. Note that most of these articles have not been checked for links to disambiguation pages, or for providing inappropriate in-title links "Such as This".
