Ọbẹ́ is generally refers to as soup in Yoruba language which is made out of some selected types of vegetables, herbs, roots, barks and seeds. While other ingredients used are cooking oil, water, seasoning, meat, fish and spices and flavour enhancer like Irú(Locust beans) and Ògìrì to make it tasty, and enriched.[1][unreliable source?][2][unreliable source?][3][unreliable source?]

This category of Yoruba cuisine. Obe is usually eaten with Òkèlè such as Iyán pounded yam, Àmàlà, Èbà and Fùfú, but can be eaten sometimes with rice. Some Obe have the consistency of Sauces so in non Nigerian English they may be called sauces.[4][unreliable source?]
Other Category of Ọbẹ̀[edit]
A sub category of Obe is Obe ata which is a stew or sauce made from a tomato and pepper base. Obe ata is mostly eaten with rice and fried and boiled Yam, potato, cocoyam and plaintains. They are also sometimes paired with some particular Obe to eat with okele. For example, is Ewedu which is eaten with Omi Obe or Obe ata.[5][unreliable source?] Obe-ata and Obe can both be used for tomato pepper based stews and sauces, while Obe-ata cannot be switched to mean vegetable soups or sauces, which is Obe.
