List of sports films

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Amgcatz (talk | contribs) at 04:32, 3 January 2013 (→‎External links). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

This list of sports films is a compilation of films in the genre covering sports activities. Sports movies have been made since the era of silent films, such as the 1915 film The Champion starring Charlie Chaplin. Films in this genre can range from serious (Raging Bull) to silly (Horse Feathers). A classic theme for sports films is the triumph of an individual or team who prevail despite the difficulties. Men often identify with sports films in ways they wouldn't with other genres, such as spy films.[1]
