Stella Márquez-Araneta, a former Miss Colombia, who became a Miss Universe semi-finalist and the winner of the first Miss International beauty pageant in 1960, is the chairperson of Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated (BPCI) which has been the official national franchise holder of the Miss Universe Organization since 1964.
The Philippines, through BPCI, has produced two Miss Universe winners (Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margarita Moran in 1973) and four Miss International winners (Aurora Pijuan in 1970, Melanie Marquez in 1979, Lara Quigaman in 2005 and Bea Santiago in 2013) and one Miss Supranational winner (Mutya Datul in 2013).[1] The first Miss International crown for the Philippines, won by Gemma Cruz in 1964, is a product of the Miss Philippines pageant, the predecessor of the Binibining Pilipinas pageant.[1][3] The first Miss Tourism Queen International crown for the Philippines, won by Justine Gabionza in 2006, is a product of Miss Philippines Earth. The Philippines is yet to win a Miss Intercontinental crown.
Humanitarian projects
The annual Binibining Pilipinas Beauty Pageant is a project of Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Incorporated (BPCI), a non-stock, non-profit organization and foundation, and the organizer of the Binibining Pilipinas, has established skills trainings and educational workshops for the indigents and philanthropic/humanitarian projects and activities that have benefitted many orphans and street children, poor families and other less fortunate members of the Philippine society.
The pageant, BPCI's primary instrument as it pursues its mission of spreading peace and love across the nation, is a fund-raising activity for projects that would benefit orphans, indigent families and other less fortunate members of Philippine society. Apart from producing the country's best beauties as representatives for various international competitions, BPCI has been a key partner in nation-building for over four decades, providing skills training, educational workshops, mission work, and other relevant services for the marginalized sectors of the community.
Bb. Pilipinas Coronation NightFirst and foremost a charitable organization, BPCI donates all its earnings to a string of orphanages in Metro Manila including daycare centers, in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). In times of calamities, especially the recent devastation brought about by typhoon Ondoy, it is committed to contribute aid to relief operations whenever and wherever such calamities occur. Aside from joining the relief efforts conducted by GMA's Kapuso Foundation for the victims of typhoon Ondoy last year, one of the most memorable relief operations that involved BPCI was when Central Luzon was immensely affected by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991. Binibining Pilipinas past and then current titleholders trudged through the ash-laden town of Porac, the Tent City in Pampanga, and other refugee camps, to distribute food, medicines and other basic needs to the affected helpless residents that included ethnic tribes that lived on the volcano slopes. The institution also contributed to the global effort of aiding the Tsunami Victims when it made its donation during the MTV Asia Aid Event at the Araneta Center last 2005. Other more recent fulfilling endeavors undertaken were regular children's welfare programs at the Barangay Soccoro Day Care Center and the Philippine General Hospital Pediatric Cancer Unit, helping build houses for the poor as volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, bringing relief and inspiration to our wounded soldiers at the AFP Medical Center, and bringing Christmas cheer to indigent children by hosting them during the Disney on Ice Charity Show last December.
With the annual pageant as its main source of funds, the BPCI tries to bring the message of hope and love across the nation. Young Filipina pageant participants are given the opportunity to be carriers of this message as the humanitarian missions make up BPCI's primary goals. Its role in the upliftment of less fortunate fellow Filipinos through economic support generated from corporate sponsorships and other benefactors and donors is the basic reason for BPCI's existence and relevance as an institution.
Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc.'s relevance as an organization lies in more than just the quest for the True Filipina Beauty—it is the gateway to many meaningful opportunities to be able to make a difference in the world, with its enduring commitment to various humanitarian causes.

Binibining Pilipinas – Supranational (for Miss Supranational)
The very first Philippine delegate to Miss Supranational 2011 was Lourenz Grace Salibay Remetillo of Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, who was crowned Miss Supranational Philippines 2011 chosen by a Singapore-based organization.[9]
In 2012, Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. acquired the franchise and appointed the first runner-up to be the titleholder of Binibining Pilipinas Supranational. The winner becomes the official representative of the Philippines in the Miss Supranational pageant. In 2013, the title was added with the four other Binibining Pilipinas titles.
For the first time on September 6, 2013, Philippines Representative Mutya Johanna Datul was crowned Miss Supranational 2013 in Minsk, Belarus. With Datul's win, the Philippines became the first Asian country to win the said pageant.
In 2015, there was an speculation about the possibility of a crown switching between the declared Binibining Pilipinas Supranational who is Rogelie Catacutan with Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2015 Christi Lynn McGarry, since Christi have already represented the country in the Miss Intercontinental pageant in 2010. But in March 18, 2015, three days after the Coronation Night, Missosology Philippines posted in their Facebook Account the text message sent by the BPCI regarding the issue, saying that McGarry is still eligible to compete in the Miss Intercontinental 2015 Pageant, thus there would be no "crown switching" that will happen.[10]
Still, the current titleholder of "Binibining Pilipinas Supranational" is Rogelie Catacutan.

Binibining Pilipinas – Intercontinental (for Miss Intercontinental)
Mutya ng Pilipinas, Inc. sent the Philippines' delegates to Miss Intercontinental from 1993 to 2013. In 2014, Binibining Pilipinas acquired the franchise and crowned the very first Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental under Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc. The winner will represent the Philippines in the Miss Intercontinental pageant.
In 2015, there was an speculation of a crown switch between Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental Christi Lynn McGarry and Bb. Pilipinas Supranational Rogelie Catacutan, since McGarry already represented the country in the said pageant in 2010. At that time, Intercontinental was still not part of the Binibining Pilipinas. Three days after the coronation, the BPCI have ended the issue saying that McGarry is still eligible to compete in the Miss Intercontinental Pageant.
Still, the current titleholder is Christi Lynn McGarry.[11]

The title was revived in 2011 under Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. Starting from that year, it became one of the titles of the competition. Former titles
Binibining Pilipinas – World (for Miss World)
The Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. selected the Philippines' representative to the Miss World pageant from 1992 to 2010. The local title was renamed to Binibining Pilipinas World and was added to the two other major beauty titles: Binibining Pilipinas Universe and Binibining Pilipinas International respectively.
The Philippines highest placement came in 2013 when Megan Young won Miss World but she won in Miss World Philippines to represent the country in Miss World. In 1993, Ruffa Gutierrez placed third. Czarina Catherine Ramos Gatbonton, the representative of the Philippines in Miss World 2010, is the last Binibining Pilipinas World titleholder.
In 2011, Julia Morley ended the contract with Binibining Pilipinas and awarded the franchise to Cory Quirino to hold Miss World Philippines, a separate national pageant for the Philippines' representatives to the Miss World pageant.[12]
