Chanchal II (community development block) is an administrative division in Chanchal subdivision of Malda district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Chanchal police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is at Malatipur.[1]

Geography

Bhakri, a constituent gram panchayat of Chanchal II block, is located at 25°23′12″N 87°59′32″E / 25.3865800°N 87.9921600°E / 25.3865800; 87.9921600.

Chanchal II community development block has an area of 205.22 km2.[2] This Community Dev. Block consists of 103 villages,92 mouzas and 119 Gram Panchayat sansads.

Gram panchayats of Chanchal II block/ panchayat samiti are:Bhakri, Malatipur, Gourhand, Chandrapara, Jalalpur, Kshempur and Dhangara Bisanpur.[3]

Demographics

As per 2011 Census of India Chanchal II CD Block had a total population of 205,333 all of which were rural. There were 105,374 males and 99,959 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 17,112 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 13,786.[4]

Literacy

As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Chanchal II CD Block was 99,129 out of which 53,185 were males and 49,954 were females.[4]

Electoral Details

Chanchal-II Dev. Block falls under 47-Malatipur LAC.This Block has 144 booths and 123839 electors with male-female break up 64955 and 58884 respectively.Electoral Gender Ratio is 907.

Samsi College is the one and only college within this Block jurisdiction.Chanchal-II Community Dev.Block has 8 Higher Secondary Schools,23 Secondary Schools,5 Junior High Schools,86 Primary Schools,46 Madhyamik Shiksha Kendras,7 Shishu Shiksha Kendras.

This Community Development Block has One Block Primary Health Centre,2 Primary Health Centres at Chandrapara Gram Panchayat and Kshempur Gram Panchayat and 25 Health Sub-Centres.Moreover, Homeopath doctors are available at 5 Gram Panchayat offices.236 ICDS Centres are regularly attended by children.
