UFC 85 is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the event is to be held on June 7 2008 at The O2 arena in London, England.[1]
Originally, the main event was to be between light heavyweights Chuck Liddell and Mauricio Rua; however, Rua requires surgery on an injured knee and cannot compete. Rashad Evans replaced Rua as the main event with Chuck Liddell,[2], then Liddell himself was forced to withdraw from the new bout with Evans due to a hamstring injury.[3] The UFC has not yet named a replacement for Liddell however Houston Alexander conqueror James Irvin (fighter) is expected to take his place in the main event. A bout between welterweights Ryo Chonan and Roan Carneiro was originally signed[4], but Chonan's name was later removed from the card without explanation by the UFC[1].
