UFC 151: Jones vs. Machida II is expected to take place on September 22, 2012 in at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada.[1]
Background
Rory MacDonald was expected to face former dual-division champion B.J. Penn at the event, but MacDonald pulled out of the bout after sustaining a cut to the forehead while training.[2]
Roger Hollett was expected to face Matt Hamill at the event. However, Hollett was forced out of the bout with an injury and replaced by Vladimir Matyushenko.[3]
Main event background
Joseph Benavidez, (16-2) is set to face Demetrious Johnson, (15-2-1) for the new Flyweight Championship on September 22. They are the finalists from a four-man tournament. [4] Joseph earned the right to fight for the championship by defeating Yasuhiro Urushitani by TKO in the second round where as Demetrious defeated Ian McCall by unanimous decision.
In the other Main Event of the evening the Jones vs. Machida rematch will take place.
