UFC 154: St-Pierre vs. Condit is an upcoming mixed martial arts pay-per-view event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on November 17, 2012 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.[1][2]
Background
An episode of UFC Primetime returns to promote the main event.[3] UFC 154 will be shown in more than 350 movie theaters in the United States.[4]
Fabio Maldonado was briefly linked to a bout with Cyrille Diabaté at the event.[5] However, Maldonado lost to Glover Teixeira on October 13, 2012 at UFC 153, replacing an injured Quinton Jackson.[6] Diabaté is now slated to face Chad Griggs at the event.[7]
Stephen Thompson was expected to face Besam Yousef at the event. However, Thompson was forced out of the bout with a knee injury and was replaced by Matthew Riddle.[8] Yousef was then forced out with injury, and replaced by John Maguire.[9]
On the day of the event, it was announced that Nick Ring would not fight Costa Philippou due to medical problems. As a result the fight was scrapped and a fight between Rafael Dos Anjos and Mark Bocek was moved to the main card.[10]
Main event
The main event features 170-pound champion St-Pierre (22-2 MMA, 16-2 UFC) vs. interim champ Condit (28-5 MMA, 5-1 UFC), with the welterweight title going to the winner.
St-Pierre, who has had a lengthy recovery from knee surgery, will be fighting for the first time since an April 2011 win over Jake Shields and will have been out of competition for almost 19 months when he enters the cage. Condit, on the other hand, competes for the first time since earning the UFC's interim title with a February decision win over Nick Diaz.[11]
