Categories[edit]

Hello. When people are listed in categories, they are typically listed under their last name, not their given name. To accomplish this, when adding a category, for example, Category:XYZ, to an article, for example, "John Smith", add Category:XYZ|Smith, John rather than simply Category:XYZ. This means that John Smith will be listed under "S" rather than "J" in the category. Thanks. McPhail 13:54, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I'm just going by the Wikipedia guidelines, which state that "sorting by last name is preferable". This is the approved means of categorisation within Wikipedia. You aren't obliged to follow this guideline, though. Thanks. McPhail 18:45, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NHL alumni[edit]

I made the following changes to the Prince Albert Raiders article:

Standardized the season standings chart to the same format used for teams in the Canadian Hockey League.
Aligned the NHL Alumni colums.
Removed the following players from the NHL alumni. I know many of them are drafted by NHL teams, but I cannot find a record that they have played in the NHL. If they have played in the NHL, let me know what teams they played on. Thanks. Flibirigit 01:53, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please cite[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Sherwood Park, but we regretfully cannot accept original research. Please find and add a reliable citation to your recent edit so we can verify your work. Uncited information may be removed at any time. Thanks for your efforts, and happy editing! The article on Hitchcock says he was born in Edmonton, not Sherwood Park. --Yamla 20:40, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You said: "Sherwood Park could be considered part of Edmonton even though it is still considered a hamlet and city due to it's size."

Yeap, it's quite likely. But a citation would be appreciated before adding Hitchcock's name. That said, if you are absolutely sure that he was born in Sherwood Park instead of in Edmonton, please do feel free to change the Sherwood Park article and even his article. I won't revert you again. Please be sure that he was born in Sherwood Park, though, rather than just living for a few years there. Also, for future note, please leave messages on my talk page, not my talk archive page. Finally, please do not remove my comments from this page. You can move them to the archive or leave them, please. Have a good day and a good weekend! --Yamla 21:02, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thanks for satisfying my pedantic desire for a citation! --Yamla 22:09, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

It is considered vandalism to remove other people's comments from this page. I already pointed this out to you. Please stop doing this. --Yamla 21:08, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies. I see you are moving them to the archive. Please ignore my comments above. --Yamla 21:09, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anglicanism and the Anglican Communion[edit]

Deleting ECCW page[edit]

Unfortunately I cannot delete the page you requested due to the fact that it has a revision history and you are not the creator of the page. If you want the page Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling roster deleted you need to follow either the WP:PROD or WP:AFD processes. 23skidoo 12:09, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the late response but I was on Wikibreak. About the ECCW roster, I personally made that article a redirect after a discussion I had to make it a redirect to the List of Independent circuit wrestlers. If I remember correctly, I think I took all promotion rosters that was not one of the major promotions like WWE, TNA, etc. I merged them into the article for Independent wrestlers. I don't think the ECCW article existed yet when this happened.
I have removed the prod tag and redid the redirect. I would redirect to the category roster, but since cross-namespace redirects are frowned upon, I wont. And since it's a semi-useful redirect to the list of wrestlers and it has a reversion history, I ain't putting it AFD. — The King of Kings 19:18, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Top 99 of...[edit]

I'm sorry but I can't undelete an article that has gone through the Articles for Deletion process. It was listed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Top 99 of... on June 20 and you can see the results. Three is no requirement that article creators be notified when one of their articles are up for deletion; you need to make sure the article is on your watchlist and keep an eye out for these things. If you really want to challenge the deletion (incidentally I would have voted for deletion as well), you can state your case at Wikipedia:Deletion review. 23skidoo 21:11, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lumiere - copyvio[edit]

Please don't add copyrighted text to Wikipedia[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate your creation of the article, Lumière, but we cannot accept copyrighted text borrowed from other web sites or printed material. Please see Wikipedia:Copyright problems for more information on this topic, or generally, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines. Please do not remove the copyright violation notice placed in the article or repost the suspected infringing text. However, if you would like to rewrite the article in your own words, follow the link in the posted notice to create a temporary subpage. If your new article is appropriate, and not a further copyright violation, the reviewing administrator will move that new article into place once the copyright status of the original has been resolved. Thanks for the message (and for not biting my head off!). Don't worry too much about the template message above - sometimes they can be pretty cold and harsh, but the powers that be want us to follow their procedure. (Somebody really ought to rewrite these messages. Have you ever seen the big page-blanking message? It scares me just to look at it. Paste into a message and see what happens, but don't forget to take it out. Eek.)
I understand that the entire article isn't from copyrighted text, but parts are and that's not allowed. If I hadn't tagged it, someone else would have and they quite possibly would have blanked the page in the interim with that huge, page-blanking, monster copyvio template. The copyright owner could - might not, but could - sue the Foundation for copyright infringement. The rules against copyright infringement are set in stone. This way, your page stays as it is while an admin sorts it out. If you have permission to use that text, you need to say so pretty quickly using the method on the copyright problems page – on a Google search for "In French, Lumière means light, in its purest, most transcendent form" the book pops up as the first 4 results. Amazon.com's sales page for the book has the text and it's the top result for me. Happy editing - Baseball,Baby! take a swing 13:44, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A2NWO[edit]

I Response to User_talk:NickSentowski#a2nwo:

This article has been voted for deletion and I have only sub-paged it as an archive for merging. I have removed the categories and templates so they should no longer appear in the lists that were questionable before. Thank you for catching them for me!!!

Sara's Secrets[edit]

Thats fine, I marked it for deletion because it looked like a vanity article or even something made up, since it only had two lines and bad spelling like you said. Now it is expanded and tidied and is much better, clearly it is a real show and I sorry if I trod on any toes. Keep up the good work--Jackyd101 17:19, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting categories[edit]

Sorry for the delay in replying but I've been away. Regarding your request re:deleting the category Category:Treehouse TV shows, I can't do that on my own. If I created the category myself that would be a different matter. If you created the category and cannot delete it yourself then it needs to be listed at Wikipedia:Categories for Deletion. Hope this helps. 23skidoo 00:38, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Category duplication[edit]

We're not supposed to duplicate categories on Wikipedia. Category:Canadian rock guitarists is already a subcategory of Category:Rock guitarists, so we're not supposed to file people in both categories simultaneously. Bearcat 14:36, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the thing to do, then, is to take the non-Canadian duplicate entries out of the parent category, not to add more duplicate entries into it. Bearcat 22:33, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added no content whatsoever to that article. My only changes were minor fixes to the text. Why don't you talk to the person who actually wrote the article? Everyking 03:56, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you meant to direct your comments to User:142.167.243.107 [1]. An understandable error on their part, so long they don't make a habit of it, and an understandable error on your part as well. Nonetheless, I think you owe Everyking an apology. Regards, Ben Aveling 04:28, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Simpsons Teletoon[edit]

The Simpsons is currently on Comedy Network up in Canada, not teletoon - I can't remember it ever being on Teletoon in the last, but if I'm wrong, please revert my The Simpsons edit (and if possible mention in the edit comment when it was on teletoon?) Thanks. TheHYPO 09:37, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, no problem - I don't personally remember them being on teletoon and thought you might have confused it with Family Guy or another show which was on one network and then switched. TheHYPO 02:18, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Probably from around the same time as the Lumiere page. Please edit this page. I am sorry but I also put a copyright violation on the Lumiere page, it has been several months since you were notified but I think the changes were not extensive enough to count as writing it on your own.

Re: Reverting on CBC page[edit]

By taking away the list of past personalities from that article, you are causing data loss and suppressing insight. Please keep that list there, using the category link as a "see also". -- Denelson83 15:43, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A category is not to be used as a substitute for a list. If you want to get the names off the main article, you can try creating a separate list at List of Canadian Broadcasting Corporation personalities and see how that flies. You cannot, however, simply link to the category as if it were a list; for one thing, it's impossible for the category to include redlinks, and for another, a category is not simply a cached page on the server; the server has to actually generate the category each individual time it's called up, which generates far greater server load than is warranted. Bearcat 04:15, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comment! I just read today. ;) ~~~~ Kassie 13:58, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The policy says: Occupation categories should not be divided into "current" or "former" categories.

That is the reason. -- ProveIt (talk) 01:07, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I actually prefer the Alumni name as well. However, the problem is really to do with mirror sites, printed copies and cds. On wikipedia we can update things any time, but once it's printed in a book thats it. Thus they want to avoid any kind of current/former classification scheme. -- ProveIt (talk) 22:04, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure how to populate it, as I have divided up all Dutch pianists by style (except for one who is unclear, yet not rock). Best regards, gidonb 14:24, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello thank you for your note. As I was adding requested articles I tried to put a strike out through them and the date. I noticed that on other pages. I thought it would show progress, as the Wikiroads project was considered dormant even though it had been growing, just nothing to show changes. I have been adding the Wikiproject banner, as well as multiples if I find them, this has been quite good. I have been adding Sk or multiple banners to existing articles which were barren on the talk pages as well.SriMesh | talk 14:50, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Review Requested[edit]

Could you please help to create the first newsletter for WP SASK ? ... a pilot perhaps could start similar to....WP SASK Newsletter Do you have any other ideas ... it seems like other WP projects have tried to use newsletters, would it be helpful for WP SASK to also have one?.... WP SK newsletter[edit]

Hello there! I emailed Victor to see if he wanted to add the minutes of the meet up for the July newsletter edition, he took the notes, and has them on the meet up page, but would be nice to see also in the newsletter. So will wait for his reply, then shall start anew....: SriMesh | talk 04:34, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Haven't heard back from Victor, however started the July issue. Will you again help out?....Perhaps offer up the direction the Communities WP is headed and any other new items as you did so well last time. It is proposed at...WikiProject Saskatchewan Newsletter: Volume 1, Issue 2 - July 2007. Thank you. SriMesh | talk 02:11, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Experiment[edit]

If folks who wish the newsletter not as a link, but embedded it seems like the wiggly brackets will make it show in a user page. link instead of link So that should be a choice on the bottom of the newsletter... how to receive it I suppose...SriMesh | talk 17:16, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Me again :-} If any subscriber wishes to receive the newsletter it seems like the addition of the following lines on their talk pages will suffice to receive the newsletter, and the changing of month, and year for the newsletter name will change the addition of the newsletter to their talk page. See this page...Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Outreach#Delivery options for example

Full content delivery: ~~~~

Link-only delivery: WikiProject Saskatchewan Newsletter link ~~~~

Category[edit]

I removed the from the newsletter or else is seems like the user talk pages also get added to the category if they subscribe to full content delivery .... SriMesh | talk 05:48, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Newsletter Banner[edit]

There should be a section in the newsletter to ask members / subscribers to design a new newsletter name with its own banner or font style appear ance just as Wikipedia as a whole named their newsletter the Sign post and used old english font, we should have our own Wiki Project name for the new WP Sask newsletter such as the....Star Phoenix, Leader Post, Herald, Booster, or Times Herald (which are already in use)....but something else perhaps What do you think about this new - new newsletter - article? SriMesh | talk 05:59, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fall/Autumn newsletter[edit]

Talked to Delzen talk regarding his students and their contributions re wikipedia/ Saskatchewan in his information processing class, perhaps one newsletter edition could be by the students after school starts again...say September or October if Delzen thinks it would work out...SriMesh | talk 02:29, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did you want to add anything more re the WP communities area? before the July newsletter is delivered? I haven't heard back from Delzen talk re the fall as of yet. I emailed User:Ultraflame to see if he wanted to add a blurb regarding the highways WP, haven't heard yet. SriMesh | talk 18:59, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Outreach[edit]

Yes...it seems like whenever I cruise around to see how other newsletters are getting along, they seem to be within the outreach area, with templates for newcomer welcome; newsletter info-subscribers, archives, delivery options; meet ups; WP Sk links, so it does seem to be a worthwhile thing. And it also seems like sith some WP areas like US roads, the reason why they almost failed a while back, is due to declining membership and non activity, so outreach seems to be viable to keep a WP alive and active. SriMesh | talk 05:27, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did you want to putter away at starting a new outreach page....I have been floating away scoping out Wikipedia:WikiProject India/Outreach Wikipedia:WikiProject Greece/Outreach and they seem to be quite helpful at giving directions about 'what's new' info as well as info for 'who's new'... Kind Regards

SriMesh | talk 05:48, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I like what you have done getting the outreach page started ... that will be an awesome direction for the project I think.SriMesh | talk 01:52, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Collaboration Page[edit]

A collaboration page sounds also like a good idea. It seems like quite a few of the articles start at stub class, get elevated up to "B-class" and rather get stuck there. So maybe WP SK could get a few more above B and perhaps even featured which would be an honour for the province and all the members who are contributing.  :-)

SriMesh | talk 01:52, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Delivery Robots and Wikiproject Template[edit]

Hello again. Cruising around there are 3 choices for robot delivery. The way it is set up on the subscribers page needs a delivery person to add a link or full text delivery. Full text delivery in this mode does not see changes made to the newsletter page after delivery has been inititiated.

Checking out the three delivery robots which are functioning as per WP Newsletters, there is also another option available. HermesBot can be used to tag Saskatchewan related articles with a Wikiproject Template. Would this be a good idea or produce too many articles with WP templates and no ratings? SriMesh | talk 03:23, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Remove names from archives and newsletter[edit]

Yes that is OK. I have to do a brief stint at work soon, but this is all right with me.

Do you want to add the new WikiProject Saskatchewan Communities & Neighbourhoods to the newsletter, and when I return, I will let the members signed up that this rough draft is proposed for the first newsletter, so it can perhaps enlist folks for the meet up...Are you going BTW / ...I was thinking of offering rides from Saskatoon down to Craik for any Saskatoon members who are interesed, I think I do that on the meet up page. SriMesh | talk 18:41, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looks awesome! Did you want to stay with just residential urban communities and rural communities RM's or also add ie.... from....Subdivisions of Saskatchewan - Census divisions, SARM divisions, First Nations, Indian reserves, provincial electoral districts, and Federal Electoral Districts. I think right now those are the main divisions on Wikipedia for Saskatchewan. The School districts are seperate, and part of another WP, and the health districts aren't online yet. Saskatchewan has to have the most different areas ever, I have both Sk Atlases put out by the U of S, and each chapter seems to outline yet another way of describing Saskatchewan regionally!?!

-) SriMesh | talk 16:02, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added a structure template, to help articles get started. It has some helpful URLs listed as well as internal Wiki links to get information about SK communities accessible and handy. SriMesh | talk 17:21, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I believe your reply to be good about the other divisions, it should rather go in order of notability and it makes more sense to get the actual communities and RM's started or further developed before the political divisions, etc. SriMesh | talk 17:33, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Collaboration Page[edit]

Today I will putter at a collaboration page, see how it goes... I will have to do a bit more research to get going on it. SriMesh | talk 17:31, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I think it is started...Wikipedia:Saskatchewan collaboration what do you think? SriMesh | talk 02:17, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the comments about the collaboration page. We'll see how it goes...the Canada nationwide collaboration page collapsed, but it was saved online for ideas anyways. We'll see how this provincial one does...It would be cool to see an article worked on in a collaborative way and rise through the ranks quickly, as I have noticed that the various SK editors, each contribute in a different way which is unique, and fills in articles lovely. SriMesh | talk 00:44, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SKCN newsletter[edit]

The main page newsletter is handy, it is like some WP announcements. It is a nice quick way to show improvements, changes, and growth since a user's last visit to the project, and rather gives direction as well. Good idea. I think even if there are no subscribers to the WP Sask newsletter, I will still update it here and there for the same reason, to show updates, and changes to the project.SriMesh | talk 00:47, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Meet Up[edit]

I looked at map quest, and Craik and Saskatoon are this far apart... Total Est. Time: 1 hour, 34 minutes Total Est. Distance: 90.25 miles The meet up is over lunch at Saturday, June 23 at noon 12:00. I am not sure what time frame to surmise about the actual meetup and the discussion - there isn't an agenda online yet - there is so much developed lately and potential as well. So leave Saskatoon at about 10 a.m. Saturday as I don't know exactly where the eco-centre is to get there by 12:00. ... and arrive back in Saskatoon...before supper I would say for sure. Delzen was proposing 6-8 the night before - a couple of hours, so a couple of hours on Saturday would be what... 12 to 2 o'çlock ish ... and then 1-1/2 hours home would make it 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. arrival at Saskatoon - and if it went 12 to 3, then the arrival would be 4:30 - 5 p.m. arrival at Saskatoon. There is only one meetup where they said the time was 1:00-4:00... Anyways it is cool to catch a ride if you do decide you have the time avail. I am not sure what hour your evening shift begins, if this time frame would get you back in time for it. If you want to phone - email me. SriMesh | talk 01:01, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Featured Articles[edit]

Hello there  :-) It seems like that's how it goes...Ultraflame has done an amazing job keeping the highways project alive pretty much on his own!!! It would be very cool to get a featured article, your 'feature' page offers incentive or a target to aim for. I guess a lot of work was done on Uranium City a while back when it was on the Canada WP collaboration pages to raise it to good and then it slipped back down to B. And it seems like the other SK cities have sort of stuck at B for a while here, and their talk pages have a lot of editors working on them. SriMesh | talk 01:31, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

JAPW[edit]

As you removed the PROD I've put it up for deletion at AfD. My problem is that the article does not assert notability, and a long roster list doesn't really help as it just looks like name dropping to make the fed look more important than it is. If you want it to pass AfD I suggest inline refs and more of them, and more third party support not just its own page, any backyard fed can get a homepage and solie page. Prove this fed is important. Darrenhusted 19:44, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP SKCN Banner[edit]

I see both the talk page and the main page listed in the category, I think the project pages get the talk pages listed in categories as that is where the banner is placed, and the article with category at the bottom gets into the other type of category page. So I think your banner is working very well. I will try to place it on some articles also as I go along. Our busy season is abating somewhat at work, so I should be able to begin again online a bit more in a bit....SriMesh | talk 04:34, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I tried it on Nutana, Saskatoon neighborhood, and the talk page shows up at WPSCN category articles, and this category is linked into...WPSCN category, so I think all is good to go. SriMesh | talk 02:10, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Central Business District (Downtown), Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. Bethune, Saskatchewan[edit]

I noticed the article of Bethune, Saskatchewan was deleted. I am courious as to why it was deleted. If it notability, than that is an invalid reason as it would a long time to determine which articles on cities, villages, towns, hamlets, etc. are notable. Mr. C.C. 06:04, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article was deleted because the contents were complete and total nonsense. If you can write a good article on the community, then feel free to do so. --Carnildo 06:13, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you could have put a clean up tag on the article instead of deleting it. But what's done is done. Mr. C.C. 06:17, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There was nothing there to clean up. Once you remove the made-up statistics, the nonsense, and the defamatory statements, you're left with the sentence "Bethune is in Saskatchewan". --Carnildo 06:55, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

August Newsletter[edit]

Now that July's newsletter is hot off the press, the proposed third edition (blank template awaiting / inviting updates) Volume 1 Issue 3 August 2007 newsletter. I thought maybe give this a try to see if it gets filled in over the next while, instead of doing it all in one go around .... then if you / others would like to add another article or two / another update for the August newsletter, that would be cool! Bam[edit]

No, you didn't give any support as to why it was significant, which is your responsibility as the editor adding the content. Please read WP:V. Thanks, Deiz talk 06:06, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, forums / fan postings do not qualify as reliable sources.. please check out WP:RS, in particular: "Reliable sources are authors or publications regarded as trustworthy or authoritative in relation to the subject at hand. Reliable publications are those with an established structure for fact-checking and editorial oversight" Deiz talk 07:06, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It would appear the main article for JAPW currently has a few problems of its own. Articles like this should comply with WP:CORP. This should be your primary focus before creating categories etc. Deiz talk 08:13, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I note it was kept, although the discussion was closed by a non-admin (who mysteriously retired from Wikipedia soon after), and those who voted were apparently all interested in wrestling. I'd venture that an admin or more experienced closer would have taken slightly more account of the fact that the article was unsourced, and the voters failed to address this.. I'm not pushing for the article to be deleted as it seems a decent promotion, but the sourcing concerns are pretty clear. Hopefully there are some independent reliable sources which reference the promotion, as their own website and forums can help provide information but not establish notability. I have to say that from what I've seen I'm satisfied with my original opinion that without a solid, reliably sourced reference this does not appear to be a terribly significant event in the career of Bam Margera, the projects listed on his WP article such as Jackass, Viva la Bam etc are all major movies, MTV shows etc. that he created or was a major player in. He makes appearances at skating events, store openings, music events etc. in front of a few thousand fans several times a month. On the other hand, the appearance may well have been a fairly big draw for JAPW, hence an appropriately referenced mention could be probably be made on the JAPW article. Deiz talk 08:37, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! I agree with you. The Rosetown article proper would very much benefit from the additional section. I don't think the article on the history will grow to reach feature status with enough information. Did you wish to do the merger? SriMesh | talk 21:52, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know where to find a citation for the statement It had one of the largest population increases of any town in Canada between 1921 and 1931. from the same article. SriMesh | talk 23:46, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mr C.C - Just thought I would let you know something...you left a message on one of the admins talk pages, User_talk:After Midnight - you encased the message in a wikibox, on which you used the <div> tag. You forgot to close the div, which you must do or all subsequent entries become part of the box!!! :) When you finish, use </div> to shut the code... Hello there. I added Wikiproject Communities and Neighbourhoods to the welcome template...Just use the syntax in the grey box at Outreach, and you will be good to go. I will check off yes to all the options as I add it to user pages...so that folks can check out all the various options, as SK grows online! See this testing welcome where I also filled in the interest option with a blurb  ;-) ....

An Invite to join Saskatchewan WikiProject[edit]

Hi, you are graciously extended an invitation to join the Saskatchewan WikiProject! The Saskatchewan WikiProject is a fairly new WikiProject. We are a group of editors who are dedicated to creating, revising, and expanding articles, lists, categories, and Wikiprojects, to do with anything Saskatchewan.

As you have shown an interest in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan we thought you might like to take an interest in this growing WikiProject.
Please assist with any ongoing requests
You might like to take an extra interest in our To Do list
Another project dedicated to Saskatchewan is the Saskatchewan Roads and Highways Wikiproject
Also, a descendant project for Saskatchewan is the WikiProject Saskatchewan Communities & Neighbourhoods
We look forward to welcoming you to the project! SriMesh | talk 18:47, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please re-read the articles started at August 2007 newsletter... We were discussing the portal...Should this news item be worded differently or copy edited for other concepts. Thank you for the communities additions, you were speedy. I have left a message to ultraflame regarding roads and highways... So far the articles don't repeat each too much. I find that is interesting when looking around at other WP newsletters. Have a wonderful long week-end....! SriMesh | talk 01:32, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo...Re: List of communities in Saskatchewan the sections A...E...X are completed as the list stands today! SriMesh | talk 04:43, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - reply on several Saskatchewan topics[edit]

  • Invitiation Template

You did an awesome job on the invitation template...I try to use it every time I add a wp banner and rating...I just thought it would be cool to add the WP communities to it as well, I think you must have done the template before the WP...It is cool to peek into the other WPs to see how they are making out such as ....WikiProject Novels

The template is good, I just popped in WP comunities as an add in, I didn't find the WikiProject Novels template yet. SriMesh | talk 03:32, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Bethune, Saskatchewan article has no categories on the main page of the article. What categories do you suggest?...Did add some statistics to this article, you added quite a lot considering what it had on it.

  • For sections I usually try to add for towns and villages if at all possible....Info box, Introduction paragraph, history naming from the books published about SK names, law and government, geography like nearby parks or regional hills, rivers, lakes, Transportation old and new, Sites of Interest, education, Demographics, Notable peoples, map, image, sports, economics, media, published works like 1981 local history family biography books, area statisics, location in a chart thingie north south east west communities, See also area of wiki links and what links here where I also add WPs, and related lists, external links, references using template, categories, related Sk community templates, sister links and thats about it for sections. SriMesh | talk 03:32, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have spent a little time here when I had web pages open for Bethune, sometimes the main source pages that I use like national archives and becquet maps and sask gen web give info for more than one place at a time... However, please also put it up for adoption in the Adopt-An-Article departmant of WP:SKCN the more editors which focus on an article, the more it grows.

Hello again...I hope you don't mind,... but is it ok if I ask you to do this... Could you pop back to St. Louis, Saskatchewan and place into the text your sources directly where you made your refernce to another article. A short cut way is just to type
    • .

A formal way which is needed for feature status is on...Wikipedia:Citation templates wherein you would then type instead...

    •

and fill in the appropriate fields {any not filled in won't show up}..the only two fields which are required are URL and title. Then this way of citing sources will give a little superscript number in the text...and if you have a section named....References or notes, the only thing that needs to be in that section is this code...<div class="references-small"><references/></div> and the formal bibliographic style of citation will magically auto number and appear nicely referenced down below for you. I hope you don't mind this note.SriMesh | talk 23:45, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello me again. Should the article St. Louis Light be merged into the main article St. Louis, Saskatchewan? SriMesh | talk 23:56, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Reply...Mayor name was taken from Municipal Directory System that would be the place I used as a source. Don't know other than that.
St. Louis Light seems to have a tag on it...so it may not survive much longer. Perhaps if it got added into St. Louis, Saskatchewan, the info would still be available at wikipedia.SriMesh | talk 03:32, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Saskatchewan Portal

This would be an awesome idea for the August newsletter. I too have been having it roam around in my thoughts. The portals seem to be an awesome way to show the WWW and wiki editors the development of the area, and bring attention to the successes so far. It would be awesome now that more Sk folk are getting together, and more editors are grouping together to add articles in their strengths. Thought of also User talk:Royalguard11 in this respect, as they had made a note that they had also thoughts of starting up the WP SK project.

Yes I hope this gets some feedback, I also agree it would be an awesome benefit.SriMesh | talk 03:32, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • August Newsletter

Speaking of which I suppose it is time to start to put articles together here as well for another delivery.

Thank you for adding any articles / new items you can. Should also find a robot to help find newly created articles which mention Saskatchewan in them to make sure they get entered into the newsletter... Have added roads and highways direction from ultraflame. Have tried to contact Victor re the meet up result progress, to see if he likes how that is worded thus far, as I put his name on it, as he was the recording secretary at the meet up.SriMesh | talk 03:32, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From the July newsletter, some articles were suggested that may help Saskatchewan. This article has been begun Sports in Saskatchewan, and....I notice that you have an interest in wrestling  ;-) ...can you improve this section, or any of the rest of the article,... please and thanks.

If you can expand the wrestling area it would be awesome, so far all that is in the 'martial arts' type section is boxing I believe which does not fairly represent them all :-( If you know enough about wrestling to have the section not be lumped together, by all means make a new and separate wrestling section, it is awesome how much SK is growing in the sports arena, and such. SriMesh | talk 03:32, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Saskatchewan articles

Have been adding more to the U of S article, but it is so ginormous, that everything starts a new main article which expands from the U of S section...so now there is on wikipedia more about the U of s such as the academics and alumni. It is so hard to just tweak the main article, without starting another article anew on another tangent. So besides having the U of S article at ACID I have started to place it at other areas of wikipedia for advice for direction of improvement. I also tried the reward board...I made an article for Jainism...and see if they will do a SK one now...should be interesting to see how this works. Maybe I should also post a reward board notice thingie for WP SK. SriMesh | talk 21:30, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • University of Saskatchewan thanks for any peeks you are able to take in regards to this article. Sometimes it is easier to go from scratch and run, rather than editing an existing article. I keep comparing it to the other university articles listed on the talk page...and I think most things are covered, that the other feature universities have sections and info on. Perhaps the article will soon be ready for peer review or good article status review...A comment was made to add more about the buildings first though.SriMesh | talk 03:32, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Govenlock Saskatchewan - there are a few places to have a go at... to find info. I use most of the links at the bottom of the pages I help out with...See also St. Louis, Expanse, Xena, or Bethune...etc, either under External links or references....Expanse, Xena, are also unincorporated areas and I believe there was an article saying only one building was left at Expanse, and Xena was not listed on the 2005 map any more. They (Expanse, Xena) should probably also be on the ghost town listing.... The following paragraph is where I roam around to on the WWW and why I visit them for info.
  • Crichton, Saskatchewan that is pretty bad for an article, hardly even a stub, and it has survived?1?! Sometimes deletions just don't make sense at all, articles with more info, and sources get the axe, and one worded like that,...how long did it stay online??? SriMesh | talk 03:32, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Next time I answer, I won't nest, as this article is getting looooong :-)

Govenlock[edit]

Coming all very well. Much better info than just dry stats and whatnot. Re the references had a peek ... all I did was remove the double http:http: and the around the dates was a good idea...and the usual way to stuff dates into text, but in the automatic template, the template wikifies the date on automatic pilot so users don't have to on the month day year thingies. Good job. user Jeepday gave me a hint recently at... User:Jeepday/Cite Kind Regards SriMesh | talk 02:11, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Invite To WikiProject Saskatchewan Commnunities & Neighbourhoods[edit]

Thank you so much for your invitation. I am more than interested, though I confess that I am only knowledgeable as to Regina, the Qu'Appelle Valley and environs and towns along Number 1 Highway between Regina and the Manitoba border. But I shall certainly keep an eye on the project and add my two bits worth when I can. Masalai 03:44, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added a newsletter tip that was recently added. I will await to hear from fremte to see if the re-wording is all right and then probably set out to deliver the newsletter this weekend. Do you have more to add? I will also contact Sniper Sarge, and see if they have any ideas...from the tip page... SriMesh | talk 05:24, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know??[edit]

As you peek at newly created articles at WikiProject Saskatchewan Commnunities & Neighbourhoods, add a sugggestion to the Did You Know? page. It will let more WWW visitors have a peek at the new article, which will help its visibility. The rules to making a Did You Know? sugggestion are posted here. So articles have to be entered while still young for example be no more than five days old. It is rather fun to do  :-) SriMesh | talk 05:30, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looked at the talk page re Birch Hills and entered my opinion on your comment regarding Notable Persons. Hopefully some sort of resolution can be found. Good item to choose to review. SriMesh | talk 05:30, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Putting notes in a box[edit]

Please don't put notes in wiki articles in a box (like with Backmasking for instance). It makes them not print, and just in general, scroll boxes suck. There's no problem with having notes take up space: wiki is not paper, and people who are not interested don't have to scroll to the bottom. --jacobolus (t) 00:58, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, playing with the portal concept idea thingie.[edit]

Hello I am puttering at the concept of the portal. Please peek in and see what I mean.... I started on my sandbox, and it wasn't a good idea there, so I really really started one under the actual name...so it is a portal under construction... at...Portal:Saskatchewan Making portals is different from making articles because one portal absorbs into itself a bizzilion articles...each little box on the page is actually its own page which is unique...see the Wikipedia:Portal/Instructions under Wikipedia:Portal. I picked green and yellow as they seem to be common SK colours, but tis easy to change.... That is where I am now...but I am puttering this afternoon, but come putter with, or change whatever...I am playing for now...  :-) Trying to get used to the new concept of embedding pages. Thank you that's all for now. Thanks SriMesh | talk 20:41, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Portal, reply I think[edit]

I made the portal all random with the pages that were transcluded-the sections that rotate the content are introduction, biography, feature article, feature picture, and DYK. All the other sections transclude ordinary article type pages with static non changing content, unless an editor edits them. I was reading the talk pages of other portals, and the dormancy was a problem, and the number of volunteers who have time to continually refresh the portals to make them look new was a factor. So if you want to see an item that was within a section box previously, open up itx transcluded page. To do that...you can place the Saskatchewan portal in edit mode, and all the transcluded page are listed at the bottom of the web browser, or just click on the link that says...Read more or more... Then you will see the listing of the grouping of other transcluded pages that can be added to or edited. If you just wish to view various pages hit the Show new selections below the introduction section. For more info about this transclusion concept. Another idea, that isn't done yet, would be to categorize all pages under a category called Portal:Saskatchewan, and they would also be easy to find. I am not sure what you were looking for....but hopefully this is clear as mud  :-) Kind RegardsSriMesh | talk 19:38, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there. I understand. Thank you for updating the news page. I re-added it to the portal page. I had it on and was so nervous that it would look stale dated, as it is one section that really can't rotate random articles, as it is supposed to be current and here you are making it current and alleviating all my worries :-) Oh Thank you. The Canada Portal is in the same way. There is discussion on the talk page they want the current events section re-added on, but the same concern was why it was put into just the source coding. Anyways you made some awesome additions to the current events section BTW. SriMesh | talk 17:18, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter! I hope this will be a good source of news to those people interested in what's happening around our pro wrestlimg community. I plan to release it every Sunday.

This newsletter will just be a way to get the community announcements to people who don't have the time to check the mesageboards, as well that to those just curious about the news. The newsleter will consist of a project news section (to do with what's happening on Wikipedia), and a current events section (relating to news in the "real world"). The newslette will also contain the Collaboration of the Week announcement.

That's all. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please post them at this talk page.

    What's New?

The Assessment Department is new. Please help to assess via quality and importance Saskatchewan articles by using the parent Canada wikiproject template along with the Assessment guidelines.

See also wikiproject template for other work groups with their wikiprojects as well as provinces which can be added to the Canadian template

The new template and assessment table worklist is produced periodically and was created by Arctic Gnome. Thank you very much! Please take a moment to send an award or other recognition

    New Template Saskatchewan

    • AT Bot requests, another very kind user has also offered to help with the transition process (Thank you also to Ρх₥α )

The request conglomerated together the following tasks to help show the quantity / quality of Saskatchewan related articles:

    1. tag all articles in Category:Saskatchewan and all of its subcategories with and if already exists, then can just |sk=yes be added to the Canada template?
    2. all articles which have a Saskatchewan related stub Saskatchewan-politician-stub / Saskatchewan-stub / Saskatchewan-geo-stub to be tagged in their talk pages for wikiproject Saskatchewan and be classified as stub as such:
    3. add GA or FA to to the class parameter of WikiProject Canada articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.
    4. add stub to the class parameter if a stub tag is present on the article page.
    5. Replace the old tag Saskatchewanproject with the new parent wikiproject tag: and if already exists, then can just |sk=yes be added to the Canada template?
    6. add to the class area FL for any Featured-class lists articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.
    7. add to the class area List if the Saskatchewan related item in category:Saskatchewan articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.

Watch Arctic Gnome's assessment table worklist for progression undertaken by Ρх₥α. It is a very exciting time. Please take a moment to send an award or other recognition

    3. Develop quality articles. Increase the amount of good and Featured articles about Saskatchewan related content.
    4. Develop top importance articles about Saskatchewan such as those about crown corporations. the provincial government and its several departments. From the Saskatchewan wiki meeting held back on 23 June 2007 it was discussed to develop an article on Health in Saskatchewan, and to improve to feature status articles: Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Regina.
    5. The University of Saskatchewan became a good article to celebrate the 2007 anniversary of campus, and should now have a peer reveiw to continue on to becoming a feature article. The List of University of Saskatchewan alumni was developed to assist this article and help would be appreciated providing citations for each entry, and to help add to the list.

    Highway Picture Template

    • Just as there is only one image needed for upload for Saskatchewan locator maps, and then various towns can be updated upon this image. So, too there should be a highway picture template, so that the various numbered highways 1, 33, 34, 58, 913, 914, etc can all have their own image without needing to create a bizzilion numbered images online.

    2004 Election

    • Our 2004 Saskatchewan election has resulted in an amazing number of politician biographies coming online! This was an awesome achievement, and something to be proud of!
    • Qyd (talk · contribs) and Arctic.gnome (talk · contribs) are editors of a wide variety of Canadian related articles, and of note as of this date is the enormous amount of work they have undertaken to help amalgamate all the various provincial wikiprojects and Canadian sub projects into one umbrella assessment department. This unique assessment department means that Saskatchewan related articles can be assessed for their own provincial merit, and also belong to the Canadian wikiproject as well. It also means that editors from both Canada wikiproject and Saskatchewan wikiproject can unite in their efforts to provide banners and ratings to articles. This will result in a huge improvement in quality on wikipedia, resulting in Saskatchewan's spotlight award for Qyd (talk · contribs). Welcome and Happy New Year!:

    • Just as panic begins to settle in as to what in the world the next newsletter should mention, new areas of development and growth come about. The coming year of 2008 should provide not only more Saskatchewan articles, but also more articles with higher ratings with the assistance of more editors, and a new assessment department umbrella. The highways and roads project has given a good base for development, and to strengthen the presence and notability of roads and highways and effort is being called upon to help these articles improve, now that they too are under the assessment umbrella.

    Saskatchewan Roads and Highways

Saskatchewan Roads and Highways The WikiProject Canada Roads is undergoing an overhaul. It is aiming to produce some Good articles and Featured articles of highway content pertaining to Canada, and for the Saskatchewan Roads and Highways for Saskatchewan highways. As Saskatchewan is still a work in progress this is a challenging endeavour for as the guidelines are followed as laid out at either Highway wikiproject, they become red link farms because wikilinked articles have not been developed regarding the communities, provincial and regional parks and rural municipalities which the highways meander through. Please keep apprised of the progress, and if any Saskatchewan articles rise above stub we will list it on the main page.

There is also discussion started about assessment and navigation boxes on the talk page. Please peek in to add any comments you may have.

    SK newsletter[edit]

That is a good idea regarding Current, kept, and deleted articles. Which newsletter was it, and how did they find the articles? I think Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser would be able to do quite a lot of these as I used it to compile a list of recent tagged articles for Saskatchewan, so could use it to find those in Category Saskatchewan and Category Deletion as well. ... as Saskatchewan is quite unique for a word. How are you doing? You are still very busy on wikipedia! 'Tis getting time to get the February newsletter as the end of month is rolling around too fast this time. On a side note...with the leap year, met someone getting married on the last day, which will make their anniversaries very interesting. On User talk:Bobo192, Fishhead2100 said:
I am just wondering why the article on Chef At Home was deleted.

Hi there. According to the deleted history of the article Chef at Home, the single and only user content edit that ever existed in that article was from a user who has no surviving contributions on Wikipedia. The single and only content edit consisted of test links, such as those to Example.jpg, Insert text, and even his own signature. Therefore no content as such has ever existed on this article.

Hope this is helpful and assists you further if you wish to write an article on the subject yourself - I'd say an edit of this kind from a onetime user wouldn't prohibit a genuine article on this subject being made, if you feel you can do so. Bobo. 11:45, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to write an article containing actual content relating to the subject. The previous content of the article had nothing to do with the subject itself — which I assume is notable enough by Wiki guidelines. All the best. Bobo. 17:54, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    Template SK[edit]

Sorry for the delay in reply...your template looks good, I think you will be also happy once the AWB is figured out to do list comparing again. The snapshot of compared lists is awesome...Compare what is tagged as CA communities to what is tagged as SK in general is a good way to see what is what. They have revamped it to only do 500 which is not enough, So awaiting reply. Kind Regards SriMesh | talk 03:06, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well it is defintely a bug in the AWB system. For example in the first 500 articles grabbed from template Canada communities and the first 500 grabbed from template Saskatchewan...these are SK communities with banners on them Wikipedia:WikiProject Saskatchewan Communities & Neighbourhoods/Tagged Hopefully soon there can be a snapshot of all the category articles and not just the first few. The time has rolled around again...for the May newsletter for Saskatchewan. Do you have ideas/expansion/ etc. I added more schools than communities for the Royal connections for Victoria Day celebrations on Wikipedia in regards to SK. Do you want to plop a couple more in as well? I only knew of one comment about your area of WP communities, and it first arose in regards to a highway article, but would be appropos for community infoboxes as well perhaps. Finally AWB is working properly! There is listed at Canadian project overlaps an AWB list comparison of those articles tagged with both the Saskatchewan = yes and community = yes! This list comparer can also compare the listing of those in either FA, GA. A,B,Start, Stub, class and High, mid, low importance etc. SriMesh | talk 03:16, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fishhead, I was not able to convince myself on the usefulness of this article. Since it came from a seasoned editor like you, I didn't want to blindly nominate this for deletion. I can see that you have spent considerable amount of energy in coming up with this data and I am not undermining that. But please convince on why wikipedia needs this kind of information. Thanks.--Anshuk (talk) 06:53, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you the it is a good resource to see who has been on the show. But I am still not convince on why anyone will need this data. It is looking more like a Wikipedia:Trivia sections. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to WrestleMania XXIV, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. TJ Spyke 22:10, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you had read my edit summary, you would also see that I don't think the "award" is notable. If I thought it was notable, I would have tried to source it. Also, you should archive your talkpage since it is really large. TJ Spyke 00:13, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am not alone, another veteran editor removed it as being not notable. I like PWR and listen to their podcast, but I don't think their awards are that notable. TJ Spyke 15:13, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The burden of proof is you to prove their awards awards are notable, not on us to prove they aren't notable. Also, 2 editors think they are not notable vs. 1 who thinks they are. As for "Chuck Taylor", I don't know who you are talking about. There are lots of possible uses for that name. TJ Spyke 19:34, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notable People From Prince Albert Section[edit]

Converting a list to prose is advised under these WP guideline type pages...Embedded lists WP:USCITY and WP:UKCITIES The list or bulleted style can be changed back if desired, tis best if all collaborating editors are working in the same happy point of view especially as you are probably the main contributor. I will try over the next little while also to find a way to bring both list/prose format together better / more eloquently. If perchance the article were to go to GA or FA nomination it may need a precedent in another GA/FA article with an embedded list which passed criteria. I will also try to get to look at the neighbourhood article rating over the next while as well, which was your previous note on the talk page. Sorry for the delay hugely swamped at the moment in activity. Kind Regards SriMesh | talk 03:53, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there... I was looking around and found a couple of choices I would run past you and then start to make changes on your favourite....Looking through the Localities which made FA one article just plops their notable residents in a See Also Link Tulsa,_Oklahoma#See_also or this GA South_Bend,_Indiana Columbia,_Missouri#See_also...One writes a miniscule paragraph Radcliffe,_Greater_Manchester#Notable_people and then some combine prose and a link to the main section list of notable poeple.Hillsboro,_Oregon#Notable_residents Leigh,_Greater_Manchester#Notable_people This one just does prose Caversham,_New_Zealand#Notable_people, but as I have learnt is not the be all and end all solution. This article passed GA with a list, and all the people referenced to one citation Summer_Hill,_New_South_Wales#Notable_Residents. I never saw lists at this level before. See point 1 for [[Wikipedia:Good article criteria]. This is the Wikipedia:Featured article criteria and this is manual of Style guidelines and Wikipedia:Lists. And then what I didn't know is that there is a whole wikiproject on lists themselves which are not articles Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists
    • -->What thinks you of this table format List_of_people_from_Youngstown,_Ohio, keeps tiny bit of prose, and the best features of a list together, keeps the notable folks orderly and easy to find, while stating the reason for their notablity briefly along with a citation in the table field. I think a table format would succeed at a nomination process in GA or FA and the article is indeed getting so terribly close to this step.
    • Adding a note on research so far.

SriMesh | talk 01:27, 26 November 2009 (UTC) Thanks for your note. Ok I will proceed again with changes in a bit. I don't know why I only got part way through the notable people in prose and point format mixed, and didn't finish, I think it may have been other conflicts of time, and then I forgot where I left off, but now will get back, and follow along with your notes, perhaps the table format without sections will be a good way to start up and see how it goes. Well got a start on the table format, but not all the people are verified with a citation to prove that they are not spammed entries. And I don't have notes on all of them about why they are particularly notable. But the nice thing is it is consistently formatted now, and not half and half, my goodness!! Had also a peek at Carlton Park, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan whilst I was here.SriMesh | talk 21:02, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
