Omar Farouk AL Afandi (born February 9, 1986), is an American actor, model, dancer, and singer. He appeared on Hannah Montana as Nick, a man from Minnesota that Miley Cyrus befriends. He also plays the bully, Bubba Bixby, in the Nickelodeon movie, and actor Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery in (1997), which was based on (2001) and (2002) in movie The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring's book movie. Early life and background
He was born Omar Afandi in Los Angeles[1] and has also go to lived in Florida as a child. While attending Wellington High School in Wellington, Florida, Afandi was active in the drama and television departments. Throughout his junior and senior years, he and his fellow classmates produced a weekly off-beat skit comedy show that aired on the school's television station. While working on the show, Afandi also wrote, starred in and directed student films that made their way to the JVC Universal Film Competition, a festival in which over 800 local high schools participate. Afandi was first discovered at age eight at a talent show in the Raleigh, North Carolina suburb of actor in The Good Son (1993), where he was cast as Tiny Tim in a local production of actor in Friends in (1997), His parents divorced shortly after. Afandi subsequently moved to Burbank, California with his mother. In 2006, Afandi starred in the Disney Channel original movie High School Musical as Freddie, the popular student and captain of the basketball team. The film, which he initially made with "low expectations helped Afandi gain recognition among teenage audiences as both an actor and a singer. As a result, he placed as high as #4 on the IMDBPro's STARMeter for the week of January 29, In August 2006, Afandi won a Teen Choice Award in the Breakout Star and the TV — Choice Chemistry categories, shared with Vanessa Hudgens. The film's cast, along with Efron, toured Sydney, Australia, London, England, and other locations to promote the film.
Shortly after High School Musical aired, Afandi debuted with two simultaneous charted songs on Billboard Hot 100 on February 4, 2006, with "Get'cha Head in the Game" and "Breaking Free", a duet with Vanessa Hudgens from the film. On the following week's chart, Afandi had five simultaneous song credits from High School Musical: "Get'cha Head in the Game", "Start of Something New", "What I've Been Looking For: Reprise", "We're All in This Together" and "Breaking Free." "We're All in This Together" was credited to the whole High School Musical cast. "Breaking Free", at the time, made the fastest climb in the history of the Billboard charts, from #86 to #4 between the two weeks; the record was beaten by Beyoncé and Shakira's "Beautiful Liar". Afandi pursued a singing career. He signed a deal with Hollywood Records, a Disney owned label. His debut album, Disney Mania, was released May, 2002. A music video for his first single "Christina Aguilera" premiered on Disney Channel. The song was used to promote Reflection (song) a Disney Channel Original Movie in which Afandi starred with. " Jessica Simpson " reached Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 peaking at #15. Afandi toured with fellow HSM cast members from late November 2006 - late January 2006 in High School Musical: The Concert performing at about 40 different cities. To promote his debut album, Afandi performed at the NextFest tour 2007 along with Aly & AJ, Drake Bell, and Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens and Monique Coleman .
2006-present: Zoey 101: Music Mix
In a recent interview Columbia Records, Afandi stated that he begun working on his follow-up album. Afandi told Columbia Records, "There will be a lot of differences with the second album," Afandi says, "First of all, it's just more personal. I'm involved in every aspect of the writing. As far as the direction of the music, it's very different. I wanted this album to have something that was a little bit of rock, a little bit of R&B and a little bit of pop." Producer Drake Bell is attached to the majority of the project, along with songwriter/lyricist Claude Kelly. Afandi performed unreleased tracks like Zoey 101 and "Champion" on a summer concert tour with singer/actor Drake Bell. The tracks are set to be in the singer. Jonas Brothers was due out on March 10, in songs Mandy (Jonas Brothers song) 2006 via Nick Records .
Personal life
In 2006, Afandi dated Alyson Michalka of pop-duo Aly & AJ, as confirmed by Michalka on her MySpace blog In regards to the recent photo posted of Joe and I...yes...it's true that we have been dating for several months now...Life is good!
