Cats of rcats[edit]

H O T  L Z discussions and other H O T stuff[edit]

Main hotties[edit]

  • {{R from song}}, included Unrintworthy cat (needs more work, like a Doc page, etc.)
Blocked: "Lilirhianna" –  Done by Alexf
  • Star Plus, reformatted station name in Lede – get rid of ext. link in Lede (locate policy/guideline)
  • Supergravity, several improvements to include expansion of a section
  • {{Particles}}, added Below section with physics portal plus other improvements
  • {{Science portalbar}}, created /doc, /sandbox and /testcases pages all to get the h-line to wrap for browsers that are set to larger text – see the science portal for example
  • {{tyvm}}, created template –  Thank you very much!
  • Bug 41792, My prefs page is squirrelly – looks like the squirrelliness is in IE9; FF16 opens all the tabs – Closed as resolved invalid
  • Mediocre, converted REDIRECT to Dab page
  • This edit requires more research regarding the hyphens in ISBNs. The trend seems to be to take the hyphens out of the ISBNs. If this is true, then the bot that added the hyphens is questionable.
  • {{Need-IPA}}, converted to code on /doc page, plus several other upgrades
  • {{Orbits}} template, various improvements
  • Bug 14281 on restricted use images, new activity
  • {{R undis}}, created shortcut for little-known Rcat -- check index
  • Atomtronics, added several enhancements and rm'd Orphan template
  • Anonymus (dab), needs more dabifyin' ( OR turned into a list? )
  • Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 109#Content, asked about a problem I have with the word "Content" as a section header. It takes me almost to the top of a page instead of to the section titled "Content".
    • Wikipedia:NOTEVERYTHING shortcut (to a "Content" section)
    • Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Content, where I encountered the problem – I've found that I can replace any section header in any namespace with "Content", and when clicked from the TOC (or an existing shortcut link) I will be taken not to the Content section, but to almost the top of the page instead.
    • As I noted at the VPT link above, I fixed this for IE. Now all browsers should be able to click on "Content" in the TOC and be taken to the Content section. I also fixed the shortcut above that goes to that Content section. However, it's really just a bandaid, because the section link above, Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Content, still won't work properly. Following is the reason why according to jcgoble3 at the VPT:
It jumps down here in Firefox, but to the top in IE. This is because IE is not case-sensitive on anchor links. See this extract from the HTML source of [the VPT] page (and every page on Wikipedia):
(info commented out)
Note the highlighted line; because IE is not case-sensitive with regard to anchors, #Content and #content both jump to the top, whereas on Firefox and other browsers, #Content jumps down here and #content will jump up there. I suppose I should instead consider just renaming the section to "Encyclopedic content". That would resolve the problem even for section links. I'll think about that tomorrow.
  • WP:SELF, converted three deprecated semicolon subheaders to equal-sign types, then changed them to bold subheaders and one to {{Visible anchor}}
  • Manual of Style REDIRECT – edit history, retargeted to original page as a shortcut
  • WP:SEMICOLON REDIRECT – edit history, retargeted to MOS page as a shortcut
  • T:HAT shortcut history, refocused
  • {{cls}}, created shortcut – {{Cls|Stubs}} produces Cat:Stubs
  • Taxonomy, dabified just a bit
    • (from March, 2013) Taxonomy REDIRECT, if you're looking for something to do, check "What links here" to find about 3,600 pages that need to be checked and disambiguated before this can be made into a disambiguation page (see Taxonomy (disambiguation))
      • as of 02:52, 4 May 2013 (UTC) the wp:DPL people have taken care of most of those pages – a m a z i n g !
    • User talk:Niceguyedc#Evil eye, kilokudos and question

  • SPD (disambiguation), no primary topic – more on talk pagereverted
  • Style guide talk page, responded to printworthiness questions
    • Figure out the deal about omitting redirects from search drop-down menu – found nothing, nor do I understand why anyone would want to do this; redirects are search terms after all
  • TfD, left a keep
{{Tmbox

}}

  • Cat check – left off at {{R fr}} Done
  • Concept, keep track of recent edits
  • Have a question in regard to CS1 maintenance messages similar to CS1 error messages
  • Compare APX with the ΑΡΧ redirect (the latter comprises Unicode Greek letters).
    • Also, the former and SNP (complexity) need rethinking (relinking) with the Max SNP redirect retargeted to the former (the APX article).  Done
  • P64 asks on my talk page
  • Template talk:Thinsp, note to Edokter about restoration of parameter
    • Help:Magic words#Variables, the colon and pipe in the note following the first table of variables seem to be rendered invisible by the {{thinsp}} template –  Fixed – found several more instances, so I restored the parameter in the {{Thinsp}} template (see above)
  • WP:NOT Policy RfC, oppose –  closed as "Consensus is against making an exception for redirects."
  • {{Thank You IP}}, added auto sig tildes – user name, time and date
    • Why doesn't the /doc background extend past the Welcome template? –  Fixed
  • UFC 28, rm'd AfD2 template that goes on AfD page, not on articles

Pleasant pathways, Painius  01:34, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • .mf, restored redirect
  • {{High heels}}, learn all about women's shoes! – several minor fixes
  • Cameo (disambiguation), needs work! –  Done
  • Alice Cary, continue to search for a replacement link for a Phoebe Cary quote! –  Done
  • {{Edmonton}}, check it out! – Excellent! – general improvements
  • Huế, several improvements
  • Category:Protected redirects, fix this (five times as many entries as rcat transclusions)! –  Done – the reason there are so many more than the {{R fully protected}} protects is because the rest have full move protection even though they may have lesser edit protection.
  • {{High-use}}, reverted undiscussed edits
  • Incorrect redirect test, keep an eye on this (add {{R from song}} and {{R unprintworthy}} to test) – surprising little discovery that sometimes – sometimes – the Incorrect redirect box doesn't show up on preview, although it will then appear if the redirect is saved, and much of the time it does show up on preview. "Curiouser and curiouser!" mused Alice. (L. Carroll)
  • Navbars at bottom of Procyon article – WTF? redirects bypassed
  • {{R from modification}}, xfer sandbox to live template about 2 days from 19:45, 30 March 2017! –  Done 01:19, 3 April 2017 (UTC)

  • Homo, tweaked the lead

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia
This encyclopedia was created and designed to be written by readers for the benefit of readers. It combines many features of general and specialized encyclopedias, almanacs, and gazetteers. There are several things that Wikipedia is not. Wikipedia is constructed so that future generations can also benefit from the ever-increasing sum of all knowledge found on these pages.
  • {{UFW}}, edited
  • User talk:Frietjes#Happy Holidays!, thanks and inquiry
    • a few things: (1) the default is autocollapse, so {{{state<includeonly>|</includeonly>}}} is functionally the same as {{{state<includeonly>|autocollapse</includeonly>}}} (2) the includeonly makes it functionally {{{state}}} on the main template page and {{{state|}}} everywhere it is transcluded. (3) there are three cases for state: (a) collapsed, (b) autocollapse, (c) everything else. so when you pass {{{state}}} this is the same as expanded. when you pass blank, it gets converted by Module:navbox to autocollapse. (4) the reason why autocollapse makes the box collapse on the main template page is that there are two navboxes on that page. if there is more than one box on a page, the autocollapse makes them collapse by default. if there is only one box on a page, the autocollapse makes the one box expanded.
  • Muhammad, finish navbars, left of at "Islam topics" –  done

Missions[edit]

New pages reviewed[edit]

RMs[edit]

  • Rationale used at Commons: Recently granted the filemover right on en Wikipedia, I would like to achieve that privilege here on Commons. My edit count is lower than the limit stated above; however, many of those edits were move requests, and none of them were denied. So I'm well-versed in knowing what files should or should not be renamed. I have studied several pages including the File renaming page and its subpage, /Recently declined rename requests. Two days ago I moved 31 Genus species pages, most of which had at least one Commons file and some with two. All but two files needed to be renamed to the correct genus. So there is a need, and I would like to help. I also like to pitch in with backlogs if and when they arise.
